What an event!  Walk through the streets of downtown, and historic old town Auburn, CA, and enjoy the cuisine of Placer County, showcasing wine, ale, beer and food.  How could life get any better?  Auburn Wine, Ale and Food Festival 2023...

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's just a little after 12 O'clock, Saturday, October 07, 2023, and I've arrived at "Central Square" in downtown Auburn, CA, to check into the Auburn Wine, Ale and Food Festival 2023.  The  event didn't actually start until 01:00 in the afternoon... but I decided to register early.

After showing my bar code from the ticket I purchased online, a couple weeks before the event and having the staff check my ID - this is a 21-and-over-event - I was given a wine glass, as small plate, and most importantly, a purple wrist band, to prove that I was over 21, so I could enjoy all the beer and the wine the event had to offer. Good times!

I was pleasantly surprised there wasn't a long line at check-in, which I suspected would happen.  The event was amazingly well organized in every way.  By the way... this was an event that all Placer County "foodies" should think about attending, as the food, wine and ale are simply amazing!

Photo:  When you register, you receive a brochure that will show you where each restaurant, winery or brewery is located.  It's a walking event, and each venue is located inside a different store or restaurant, so you get a great chance to explore downtown or old town Auburn, as you sample great food, beer and wine.

Photo:  Each location where food, wine and beer is hosted is located on the map.  The map really isn't to scale, as it's a short, about 10-minute walk from old town Auburn to downtown.  Talk about a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

There were something like 25 different food, wine and beer vendors.  I attended the event for the whole four hour time and I only had the chance to visit a fraction of the vendors.  Of course, I spent lots of time taking photos, which made things difficult, especially when you're handling a wine glass, a plate and a camera.

When it comes to the subject of food, the event advertises "small bites" since there are many vendors offering "small bites," you won't be leaving the event hungry.

Photo:  The first stop today for me was at Smoking Barrel Winery, with Carol's Market and Deli, who had set up shop inside US Artisan Marketplace, in downtown Auburn.

All of the events are numbered, as per the program you receive when you register for the event, and all locations are clearly marked, so you know your destination.  Each "number" corresponds with the "number" listed on the program.  This event was superbly organized!

What a great way to explore downtown Auburn!

Placer County features an amazing "wine trail," located between Auburn and Lincoln.  You'll enjoy wine tasting, micro breweries and lots of good eating.  It is truly a destination for all "foodies" to enjoy.

Photo:  My first stop on today's adventure was Smokin' Barrel Winery, where I enjoyed a chilled glass of Cabernet Savignon wine, which hit the spot for this warm afternoon in early October.

Photo:  Here goes a glass of Merlot wine...  Poured to perfection.

Photo:  I toast to the great wine, and the friendly staff at Smokin' Barrel Winery, and enjoy a refreshing glass of Cabernet Savignon wine. Good times!

Now... it was time to enjoy some good food...

Photo:  Carol's Market and Deli, located in Loomis set up a booth today inside US Artisan Marketplace, located on Lincoln Way in downtown Auburn.  Jacquelyn and Cade, with the help of Carolyn, provided today's friendly service.

Photo:  Carolyn served me a ground beef slider. So delicious! The restaurants serves what the venue describes as "small bites" but you can return as many times as you choose, and there are over 20 restaurants to choose from.  Bring your appetite.

Silly me, as today was my first time attending this amazing "foodie" event, I'd already enjoyed a full breakfast of prime rib at nearby Edelwess Restaurant 2, so my capacity for eating and drinking was severely limited.  Next year, I plan to arrive with an empty stomach!

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready enjoy a delicious hamburger slider from Carol's Market and Deli, located in nearby Loomis, CA.

Photo:  Hamburger slider, complete with cheese, on a small biscuit, thanks to Carol's Market and Deli.  Delicious!

Photo:  Meet Cade, who set me up with another slider, and along with the fellow staff, provided outstanding food and friendly service.

Photo:  Rebellion Brewery, an Auburn, local micro brewery poured some of the best beer for the event and was popular with the guests.

Photo:  Meet the amazingly friendly staff who poured the Rebellion Brewery Company beer, for this Oktoberfest event, in downtown Auburn.  "Marzen" lager beer worked out great for this Saturday afternoon.

Photo:  The super friendly lady is giving me a generous pour of locally, Auburn-brewed beer.  I spent over an hour at this amazing location, thanks to the hospitality of the friendly staff, and an inviting bench outside the store.

Photo:  Hot dogs were prepared and cut up into "small bites" and set out on the table for you to enjoy.

Photo:  I'm a happy lover of a hot dog, especially when it's paired with a glass of beer, thanks to Rebellion Brewing Company.  Las Vegas met Auburn on this Saturday afternoon!

Photo:  Small bite of one of the best hot dogs you can find in downtown Auburn!  Grilled hot dog on a roll, grilled onion along with a drizzle of mayonnaise.  Simply delicious!

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready enjoy a treat from Restaurant Josephine, located in downtown Auburn.  Note the purple wristband I'm wearing, which proves that I'm over the age of 21.

Photo:  My "small bite" of food today from Restaurant Josephine.  Honestly, I know absolutely nothing about French cuisine, but all I can say is this was good... I don't even know what it was.

Photo:  Ponderosa Cider Company, a local Auburn venue that makes amazing "hard" cider, set up shop today inside of C Hoshall Designs, located on Lincoln Way, in the heart of downtown Auburn.  I chanced to meet this professional photographer, who was chatting with the owner of the store.

Photo:  Cheers!  I'm ready to enjoy a pour of "Super Bloom Hibiscus Cider," thanks to Ponderosa Cider Company, located in Auburn.

Photo:  My last stop today was at Auburn Ale House, who set up pizza and beer at Herschel Young Park, located in historic old town Auburn.  This park is the smallest "official" park in Placer County, and it's not much larger than your suburban back yard.  Pizza and beer... does it get any better?

Photo:  Meet Julie, one of the organizers of today's event, who handed me a pour of ale, with a smile.

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready to enjoy a slice of pizza, along with a pour of beer.  Life is good at Auburn Wine, Ale and Food Festival!

Photo:  A slice of "Pepperoni Pizza," from Auburn Alehouse, located in old town Auburn.  Great pizza in Placer County any way you look at it.

Photo:  Slice of delicious "Combination Pizza," with everything on it.  Talk about great pizza!

In keeping with the format of today's festival, food was served in "small bites.  No worries, as you could always go back for seconds... or a fifth helping!

Just a couple months ago, I enjoyed a "flight" of beer, along with an amazing lunch of "Fish and Chips" at Auburn Alehouse.  Click on THIS LINK to read the article I posted about my visit.  Enjoy!
