The "World Famous" Clown Motel, located in Tonopah, Nevada, bills itself as the "Scariest Motel in America," thanks to the clown motif, and the fact that it's located near the town cemetery. The motel is anything but scary, as the lodging is comfortable and the staff is super friendly. Alright... this is not a dining experience, but here it is, as it's a "motel experience" within easy walking distance of some of the best restaurant cuisine in Tonopah...
Photo: It's early Saturday afternoon, November 16, 2024, and I've arrived at the "World Famous" Clown Motel, located just north of downtown Tonopah, Nevada, to enjoy a restful night, after camping in the desert for nearly two weeks. It was COLD this early afternoon in Tonopah... as the temperature was 32 degrees and by the end of the afternoon had climbed to a balmy 34 degrees.

Photo: Looking at the motel from my balcony. The balcony included tables and chairs, but sitting outside wasn't much of an option on this cold afternoon in mid-November. There isn't a pool - who cares in Tonopah?... - but there's lots of easy parking, including pull-thru's for the trailer crowd, and the staff is super friendly. Talk about convenient location, as the motel is located on the north end of town, and only about a half mile north of downtown, including the landmark Mizpah Hotel. During my stay at The Clown Motel, I hiked to Tonopah Brewing Company for an early Saturday evening dinner, and on Sunday morning, I enjoyed breakfast at Pittman Cafe. All of the amenities that the town of Tonopah has to offer are within an easy walk from this fine motel.

There are clocks on the wall behind the check-in counter that give the time for major cities around the world. What time is it in Tokyo? Just check the clock at The Clown Motel.

Photo: Since I was by my lonesome, I went for a simple room, with a queen size bed. Boy... was I surprised, as the room included a lot more than I imagined! Besides a comfy bed, the room included a refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, coffee pot, flat screen television with ample cable channels and a sitting area. Great motel!
