The Great Greek Mediterranean Gill is the lastest restaurant to open in the Westpark section of Roseville, CA, which is the newest section of town, that's still growing strong.  As the name implies, the restaurant serves Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, which is a welcome addition to west Roseville, as there is no Mediterranean restaurant even close.

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little after 01:00 in the afternoon, Friday, November 10, 2023, and I've arrived at The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, located in The Placer at Blue Oaks strip mall, in the Westpark section of Roseville, CA.  This fine restaurant enjoyed their "soft opening" back in August, and has become of favorite of west Roseillians who enjoy delicious Greek and Mediterranean cuisine.

Each The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill location is a franchise,  and is independently owned and operated. As of this writing, there are around 100 or so stores scattered from coast to coast.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll note the cheery, modern dining room with the floor-to ceiling windows. The decor is simple, modern, comfortable and "no frills."

Photo:  The restaurant features a large outdoor patio, with umbrellas that will shade you from the hot Placer County summer sunshine.  The patio is about the same size as the dining room and seems to actually have more table.

Photo:  The restaurant operates on what I refer to as a "taqueria format," in that you make your selection from the menu, pay for it, and in return, you'll receive a receipt and a number.  You sit an any open table of your choosing and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you by one of the friendly staff members.

On this early Friday afternoon, customers are lined up to place orders, as the dining room is quite busy.

Photo:  The menu is posted on a video monitor above the order counter, and... naturally, online on the restaurant's website.  There are no printed menus, and all to-go orders are placed online.

Photo:  If you get at the right angle, you can take a peek into the kitchen, located behind the order counter, and watch the talented chefs at work.  Note the chef slicing meat from the vertical rotisserie, which is standard Middle Eastern grill.  You'll also find vertical grills, known as "trompas" in Baja California, and other northern Mexican states.

Photo:  My hostess brought my fries and my sandwich to my table with great efficiency.  I didn't manage to catch her name...

Photo:  I'm all smiles, as I have my "The Great Greek Gyro," along with an order of some of the best fries I've enjoyed during my countless dining excursions in west Roseville.  Thanks to my hostess for gracious snapping my photo.

Photo:  From the "Sandwiches" section of the menu, I went with "The Great Greek Gyro," along with an order for fries.  Gyros are a quintessential Greek sandwich, that are as Greek to Greece as hamburgers are to America.  Along with the gyro, I went with an order of "French Fries" as a side dish.

When you order a gyro, you get a choice between "Gyro Meat," which is a mixture of beef and lamb, or chicken.  In keeping with my character, I went with "Gyro Meat," and I'm glad I did, as it was simply delicious!  As the menu states, it's a mixture of  tender, seasoned, marinated and grilled lamb and beef.  Lamb has a rather strong taste - you love it or you hate it - and the seasoned beef helped to moderate the strong lamb flavor, but the meat definitely retained the strong, in my opinion delicious, taste of lamb. The lamb and beef meat combination complimented one another and it worked out well.

The meat, along with the fresh Romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, diced red onion, tzatziki and feta cheese were laid out on a freshly baked Greek flatbread, which reminded me of a large, puffy Mexican flour tortilla.  A gyro is known officially as a "sandwich" or a "wrap," but essentially it's a Greek taco, filled with amazing Greek ingredients. Whatever the case, the flatbread was baked to perfection, chewy, delicious, held together well, and provided a delicious foundation to this wonder sandwich.

The tzatziki sauce, a creamy dip made with yogurt, cucumber, garlic and herbs, added a creamy tangy richness to this delicious sandwich. The sandwich was topped off with a generous scoop of tangy, feta cheese, which is a brined, Greek cheese made from a mixture of sheep and goat milk.

The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill simply "nailed" the sandwich, as all ingredients were fresh, with the meat perfectly grilled, and the veggies crisp and fresh.  The tangy tzatziki sauce and feta cheese added just the right amount of "tang" with lots of Greek flavor.  The meat-to-bread ratio was perfectly, and the lettuce, tomato, onion sauce and cheese made for a delicious, well-balanced sandwich.  As an added bonus... this gyro is healthy!

The fries were simply delicious and made for an outstanding side to the sandwich.  The fries were deep fried to a rich golden brown on the outside, yet tender and juicy inside, just the way delicious fries should be cooked.  The taste was amazing, as they had just enough salt, but not too much like you'll find at many of your fast food restaurants.  I simply LOVED the fries!  At $5.95, they had better be good, and the amazing fries didn't disappoint.

The sandwich and the fries made an amazing lunch!

Photo:  My delicious "The Great Greek Gyro" sandwich, open, and showing all the amazing goodness, including the tzatziki sauce and the feta cheese.  The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill is the only Greek restaurant in the Westpark section of Roseville, and since the "soft" opening last August, as attracted all Greek-loving "foodies" in west Roseville.

The food is amazingly delicious and, shall we say? ... Mediterranean?  The food is delicious, it's healthy, it's fresh and The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill makes an attractive alternative to the multitude of restaurants on the west side of town.  The staff are friendly and efficient, and the dining room is modern, clean and comfortable.  The spacious patio offers a great outdoor dining experience, along with a view of the happenings at The Placer at Blue Oaks strip mall.  For amazing Greek and Mediterranean dining, choose The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill, located on Blue Oaks Blvd, in Roseville, CA.
