Friday, February 14, 2025... what to do to make for a perfect Valentine's Day dinner when you're home along? My choice today was simple: Fire up my Weber "Smokey Joe" grill and grill a fillet of wild Alaskan Silver Salmon. Photo: Late in the afternoon, Friday, February 14, 2025, I fired up my Weber "Smokey Joe" grill, using locally grown and gathered oak wood. Oak wood works for everything, as it's very similar to hickory. Oak wood grows everywhere in western Placer County, and all I have to do is gather it, bring it home and cut it to size. It's already aged and is ready for the grill or for the smoker. Photo: Wild Alaskan "Silver Salmon," twice-baked potatoes, green squash, along with a jalapeno pepper are almost ready to remove from the grill. Photo: I lift the lid from the grill to show my handiwork for the afternoon. Photo: Tonight's dinner of salmon, twice-baked potatoes, green squash, cabbage, with cocktail sauce for enhancement. Look at the beautiful grill marks on the fish! Last year, my friend Dan Weir enjoyed a fishing trip near Kodiak, AK, and brought home lots of fish, including many fillets of the silver variety. I was the benefactor of his generosity! Photo: The mellow late afternoon light highlights all of the goodness of the grilled fish and potatoes. Copyright(c) 2025 eRench Productions.
