Pizza grilled over a oak wood-fired grill,  baking pizza directly on the grill...  no pizza oven is needed!  It's easy,  a lot of fun, and it's sure to please every diner.  Fire up you grill and enjoy great pizza!

It's Friday, March 07, 2025, and pizza is on the menu for dinner tonight.

The crust is the foundation of every pizza, and I was lazy today, so I simply used a supermarket pizza crust, which works well, but it's not the same as homemade.  My pizza sauce was homemade, from a recipe I found on the web a couple years ago, a very basic and simply pizza sauce.

Photo:  I've fired up my Weber "Smokey Joe" grill to get the grilling started.  I prefer "old school" grilling, and this afternoon that's how my pizza is going to be grilled.

Oak wood grows everywhere in western Placer County, and oak wood is 99% similar to hickory when it comes to grilling, so I use oak wood most of the time.  I simply gather it up locally, bring it home and cut it to size, and it makes perfect fuel for grilling sessions.

I use a Weber brand "Smokey Joe" grill for my patio grilling at home, as it's the perfect size for a small barbecue session.  I've "tricked it out' as I constructed a table to bring it to a decent grilling height - no more bending over - and I've included tool holders, a grate holder, and metal fire pans to catch all of the hot ashes.  When the grill is cooled down, it's kept covered, as I take pride in the care of my grill.  I recycle about half of my charcoal to use for a future session.  The "Green Guys" should love all of this!

Photo:  Today's grilling session found me with extra room, so in addition to the pizza, I threw on an extra link of chicken sausage, a cut up Russet potato, and a jalapeno pepper.

Photo:  I lift the lid to the grill, and my pizza, sausage, potatoes and jalapeno pepper are nearly ready to enjoy for this Friday evening dinner.

Photo:  Tonight's pizza, grilled over oak, is almost ready to enjoy.  You simply can't beat homemade pizza on your grill, and it adds a whole new dimension to pizza enjoyment.

Photo:  I cut the "personal size" pizza into quarters to enjoy.  One bite told me that I was in business and that I'd grilled a delicious pizza!
