Every few years, the fast food chain of McDonald's re-introduces the "McRib" sandwich, much to the delight of those who crave this fine sandwich. During a recent stay in Bishop, California, I couldn't help but to notice the McDonald's, located across Main Street from my motel room, had "McRibs" at the price of 2 for $5.00. How could I resist? As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: McDonald's Restaurant, located in Bishop, CA in the early evening. Yes, it features a full playground for the younger set. This fine restaurant is state-of-the-art, 2018 in every sense of the word. Oh... the location of "McD's...?" the store is located just across the street from the motel where I was staying. Something like a 2-minute commute... I can function like that! Photo: The main dining room is clean, spacious, and the staff are friendly and efficient. Note the "high-tech" menu boards. Hey, I have to pinch myself and remind me that I'm in Bishop, which is about as "low-tech" in California as it gets... Photo: It's Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 5:03 in the afternoon, and I've just ordered two "Quarter Pounders with Cheese" from the 2-for-1 coupon that I received from my bargain-priced snack that I ordered only two days ago. The friendly staff seems a bit surprised as I take the photo, and I really don't blame them. Besides guys like me, who actually takes photos in fast food restaurants? Photo: I smile, as the friendly staff sets my two "Quarter Pounders with Cheese" on the order counter, and calls my number. McDonald's Restaurant, in Bishop, works on the "taqueria" format, in that you make your selection from the posted menu above the counter - in Bishop, it's a "hi-tech" LCD screen - pay for your order, receive a number, and when your order is ready, your number will be called. It's a simple and efficient system. Photo: A two-for-one deal of two "Quarter Pounders with Cheese." Whatever opinion you have about the food served at McDonald's, you can't beat the price. Oh yes, I absolutely LOVE these burgers! Meanwhile, a couple of days earlier at 15:36 on Thursday afternoon, November 15, 2018, I spent a whopping $2.00 plus $.25 tax to enjoy a late lunch/early dinner. How can you beat that? Photo: My $2.25 lunch is delivered to me with a smile. The staff at the Bishop location is extremely friendly, and your orders are delivered in a timely manner. During my 50+ years of dining at numerous McDonald's locations - they're everywhere - the Bishop location ranks among the best. Not to take anything away from Bishop, but the McDonald's I visited early this year in Mojave treated me well... Photo: I smile... I will be enjoying lunch for the total price of $2.25. These delicious sandwiches are certainly a "loss leader" for "Mickey-D" and his friends. Photo: My late lunch/early dinner for the total price of $2.25. Left is the "McChicken" and to the right is the "Cheeseburger." Talk about "old school" fast food from the 1970's... I absolutely LOVE the food, and I totally LOVE the price. You can't beat this with a stick... Photo: It's mid Sunday afternoon, November 11, 2018, and it's half-time as I'm watching NFL football action, and I definitely am in the mood for a "McRib" or two... or four? The "high-tech" order counter of the McDonald's location in Bishop features large LCD screens that display the menu, along with animations of goodies designed to make you hungry. I'm waiting in line, but that's not a problem, as this "McD" location is efficient, as the line moves very quickly, and your order will be ready in just a few minutes. Photo: Thanks to the friendly staff at the McDonald's Restaurant location in Bishop for taking my photo. Yes, I ordered FOUR "McRibs," two to eat, and to go for later enjoyment. I smile, as I know that I'm going to be eating well. Since I visited the restaurant - located just across the street from my motel - and visited during NFL football half-time, I didn't miss a play of the game. Photo: Two "McRib" sandwiches for $5.00, plus tax. Such a great deal, and such a great lunch. Photo: One "McRib" sandwich spread open. This is one of the actual sandwiches that I received, but it looks like a publicity shot that you'd see on a television commercial. I was amazed at the presentation! The meat is pork and shaped to resemble a small rack of ribs. Add barbecue sauce, diced onion, sliced dill prickle and place it all on a bun, and you've got a heckuva good sandwich! $5.00 for two of them and you've go a great lunch! The McDonald's store in Bishop, CA is clean, modern, and very well-staffed. If fast food is your "thing," and McDonald's is your choice of cuisine, you can't go wrong visiting the McDonald's location in Bishop.
