Friday, May 24, 2013, we held our meeting at Cricket Country Kitchen, located on Auburn Blvd., in suburban Sacramento. What an experience! If you're a regular of our web page, you'll recall that the Sacramento Breakfast Club has visited Cricket's before, but... WOW! Cricket Country Kitchen serves a breakfast "to die for!" Read on... Photo: Cricket Country Kitchen is quite unpretentious from the street, and looks like, "just another restaurant" along Auburn Blvd., which, back in the day, was U.S. 40. Cricket Country Kitchen has been serving Sacramento since 1986, but this building certainly pre-dates the 1980's... next time we visit, I'll have to ask for a history lesson. The Harris Ranch Steak and Eggs banner for $6.39 grabbed my attention, and Sean's as well. Photo: Now that Uptown Café has more or less "normalized" their decor, we give Cricket Country Kitchen the award for the "funkiest decor" in Sacramento. The tall male mannequin greets you when you walk in the front door, as he stands by the cashier's station. Photo: Almost everything about Cricket is "quirky" except for the food, as Cricket produces one of the best breakfasts in the area. As I took this photo, a customer jeered at me, "Are you with the F.B.I.?" I answered back, "Heck no, I'm with the Secret Service!" Enough said... Photo: Cricket Country Kitchen's kitchen, is open, and in plain view of all to see and photograph. Photo: Our friendly server, Krista, just brought Sharlene's meal to the table, and poses for my digital camera. She remembered the Sacramento Breakfast Club, and reminded us that it's been almost six years since our last visit. We told her that it had been six years since we've seen her, as we've been back a couple of times when she was off. She has quite a memory, and is an excellent server! Photo: Photo: As posted in the opening photo, Cricket has a banner posted on the front of the restaurant, advertising the $6.39 Harris Ranch Steak and Eggs breakfast, which got my attention, and Sean's as well. So, Sean and I "went for it..." and I'm glad I did, as this was one of the best breakfasts that I've enjoyed in a long time. I ordered my steak cooked medium, and it arrived perfectly cooked, and it was so tender, that you didn't need a steak knife to cut it, as the fork did the job. You can't beat the quality or the price of this breakfast! It was just the right size for me, as it filled me up, yet I wasn't stuffed. Sean was so impressed with his breakfast that he said when it is his turn comes up to choose breakfast, his choice will always be Cricket Country Kitchen. That works for us... Photo: Today's members of the Sacramento Breakfast Club, from left to right, Eric Rench, Sean McCloud, David Rowland, Teri McCloud and Sharlene Rench. We were amazed and astounded! Ah! Talk about a breakfast... All of us were stunned at the awesome breakfast we enjoyed. Cricket Country Kitchen serves a breakfast that is as good as it gets. If you're in the mood for a superior breakfast, head for Cricket Country Kitchen! Cricket
