Let's see... I'd just come back from nearly a week touring Baja California, Mexico. Don't get me wrong, as I LOVE Mexican food, but since I'd just been back into the U.S.A. for a few hours, and i had a few beers under my belt, I was in serious need of a decent burger. Del Taco #762 was only six blocks away from the motel where I was staying for the night, and despite the "taco" name, Del Taco produces a seriously-good burger, which was what I was looking for. Photo: It's Saturday evening, at 1833, on September 15, 2012, and I'm ready to enjoy a great burger at Del Taco, in Yuma, Arizona. Photo: Yes, the #762 location is a cookie-cutter of nearly every Del Taco location, as it features spacious, modern, clean dining, an open kitchen, and a brightly lighted menu above the order counter. You walk up to the order counter, make your selection, pay for your order, and then you're rewarded with a number if the restaurant is busy. On this early Saturday evening, the restaurant wasn't busy, so I was rewarded with personal service. Photo: Del Taco #762 features an open kitchen, where you can watch the staff in action. Unlike other fast food restaurant chains, Del Taco doesn't seem to mind photos of their operation, unlike the nearby In 'N Out restaurant, who gracefully admonished me for taking photos inside their store. Thank you, Del Taco, for freely allowing photos, and producing great food! Photo: The restaurant wasn't busy, so I was rewarded by friendly Erika bringing my order to the table. She was amazed that I asked to take her photo, and asked the classic question, "Why do you want to take my photo?" I have about 10, canned responses to the "classic" question, and since I'm old enough to be her grandfather, I can get away with practically anything, so I replied, "I love to take photos of beautiful women," and I received the usual giggle. After I was rewarded with the "giggle," I told her about what I do, and what my web site is all about. I'm not sure if it really registered, but, whatever the case, this gal is friendly and a real "keeper" as a hostess. Photo: I took "her's," so she took "mine..." as I pose with, as the menu check describes it, "Meal #11." More on that subject in the next photo... Photo: Ok, the name, "Meal #11" sounds like something reminiscent of San Quentin prison or the Auschwitz concentration camp, but it's not that quite dreary at Del Taco. For the price of $5.69, plus the outrageous Arizona State sales tax of $.70 - at 11.40%, not a fault of the restaurant - I received a delicious double cheeseburger, with all the trimmings, an order of fries - Del Taco makes great fries - and a small, unlimited soft drink refill. I admit that Del Taco makes great tacos, especially fish tacos, but you don't want to pass by their burgers, as the make delicious burgers that I can rarely ignore. The staff at Del Taco #762 are very friendly, and they really seem eager to please. The food is identical to any other Del Taco that I've had the privilege to visit... good, generic, and quite predictable, and I come back for more... more... and still more! If you love Del Taco, as I do, you'll love Del Taco #762, in Yuma, Arizona. Del
