Unity in the Community is an annual event, hosted by the Sacramento County Sherriff's Department, and held in Gibbons Park, in the suburb of Carmichael. It's a free, family event, that features live and static displays of current, and past law enforcement vehicles and operations, and the event also includes a free barbecue. As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my eating adventures. Photo: It's just a little past 11 on Sunday morning, June 30, 2019, and I've arrived at Gibbons Park, in Carmichael, CA, to attend the "Unity in the Community" event, held by the Sacramento County Sheriff Department. It's a free event, and all members of the community, and for everybody to attend. OK, I'll call in my markers, as this is definitely a "public relations" event, sponsored by the sheriff's department. No worries, on my part, as the men and women who work for the sheriff department are my friends, neighbors, and the people I sit next to in church. They're your average citizens, taxpayers, community members, and just great people. The "Unity in the Community" is a great event! This patrol car is definitely not your "daddy's" Camero... Look at the vintage, 1957 Chevy patrol car in the rear of the photo, complete with Motorola "Progress Line" VHF radio transceivers, and a ball mount, VHF low-band antenna. Photo: The sheriff department provided plenty of opportunities for the younger set to enjoy the event, including a talking, radio controlled car, that actually talked to the kids, and let the kids talk to it. Photo: It's just a little after 11:00 in the morning, and there is already a line for free barbecue. Thank you, Sacramento Sheriff Department, for sponsoring this great event. Photo: Cheers! The grill chef proudly displays his skills at the charcoal-fired grill, where hamburger patties and hot dogs are grilling. It's all free! Photo: "Chillin' on the grillin'" as I catch this deputy sheriff relaxing, as the hamburger patties and hot dogs grill perfection on the charcoal grill. All of the staff are members of the sheriff's department, and all of them were super friendly. Quite an event! Photo: Close up photo of meat patties grilling on this late Sunday morning. Don't you just love grilled hamburger? Photo: You make one of your life's major decision: a) Hot dog ... or b) Hamburger When you've arrived at your decision, you face the line of friendly staff who will fit you with a bun that suits your choice, and answer any questions that you might have. Photo: After you pick up your burger, or your dog, you can head over to the nearby condiment table, which features ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise. Photo: I elected to enjoy a hot dog, so I'm all smiles after I have received my "dog" and I'm ready to enjoy. From the serving line, I requested a slice of cheese, and it was cheerfully provided. Photo: I hit the "dress out" line, but I chose simply mustard and mayonnaise. The cheese was added at the "line," mostly for cheeseburgers, but the friendly staff gladly gave me a piece a cheese as I mentioned that I wanted to "enhance" my dog. I picked up the bag of Dorritos chips after I was served my hot dog. I added mustard and mayonnaise at the condiment station, located just to the left of the food serving line. No ketchup on my part! Thank you, to Sacramento County, and the wonderful men and women who work for the Sacramento County Sheriff Department, to keep our community safe and thriving. Thank you for giving back to the community, and sponsoring this wonderful event. Photo: After the fact, I was happy to enjoy the company of Good Day Sacramento host, Sabrina Silva, as she and I get to know each other at Gibbons Park. Thanks, Sabrina, for being a great media host, reporter, and a nice person. Thank you, Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, and the brave men and women of law enforcement, for hosting this wonderful community event. Thank you for your service, pinning on a badge, and helping to make our community a safer, and better place. Gibbons Park Copyright(c) 2019 eRench Productions. All rights reserved.
