For the last five years, Dog Gone Good has operated a food cart, serving delicious hot dogs, Polish dogs and jumbo dogs in Tuolumme County, centering around the greater Sonora area.  Matthew serves some of the best hot dogs in the area, with a friendly smile and a flair for grilling a great hot dog at area events.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's late Saturday morning, June 15, 2024, and I'm at the 55th Annual Father's Day Fly-In event held annually the Saturday before Father's Day at the Columbia, CA airport.  It's a little past 11:00 in the morning, and the line is long to enjoy delicious hot dogs.  It's good that I got in line, as the restaurant was sold out of all hot dogs and sausages a little past noon.  Such can be assumed by hot dog connoisseurs that this restaurant offers quality hot dogs!

Photo:  Head chef, chief cook and bottlewasher, Matthew O. grills hot dogs on his portable grill.  This guy was busy, as he was not only grilling the dogs but serving them too.  It was truly a "one man show."

Photo:  Dogs cooking on the grill.  The chef soaks them in water to add extra flavor and tenderness to these amazing dogs before putting them on the grill.

Photo:  Today's menu was short and simple, and centered on hot dogs, Polish sausage and hot links.

Photo:  Chef Matthew show me two perfectly grilled dogs he has taken off the grill, ready to be served.  After taking the photo, I got in line so I could enjoy one of his delicious dogs.

Photo:  Chef Matthew hands a grilled dog, in a roll, to a customer.  As you order your dog, you pay for it.  The system is informal and the chef seems to always to keep track of what's happening.

Photo:  Meet the chef, owner and operator of Dog Gone Good, Matthew O., who presented my "Jumbo Dog," hot off the grill, in a bun, with a smile.  Note the private aircraft in the background at the 55th Annual Columbia Father's Day Fly-In.

Photo:  The condiment bar is located on the side of the hot dog trailer kitchen, and offers mustard, relish, hot sauce, ketchup and diced onion.  Note my "undressed" dog, ready to be dressed out to my preference.  The condiment bar is serve-yourself, you you can dress your dog to your liking.

Photo:  I've dressed my "Jumbo Dog" with dill pickle relish, mustard and diced onion and I'm ready to enjoy!  The lady behind me seems to enjoy that my photo is being taken.  Great Gold Country Dining!

Photo:  I went with the "Jumbo Dog," which is a large, 1/4 pound hot dog, perfectly grilled, and served on a large, fresh hot dog bun.  The bun-to-dog ratio was perfectly, as chef Matthew "nailed" this crucial part of what it takes to make a superior hot dog.

My "Jumbo Dog" began with a large, 1/4 hot dog, perfectly grilled, complete with grill marks.  It was placed on a soft, fresh hot dog bun, which was perfect.  My dog was handed to my by chef Matthew, fresh off the grill, ready to load up with the condiments of my choice.

As far as condiments, I kept it simply, as I went with dill pickle relish, mustard and chopped white onion.  The condiment bar offered several varieties of ketchup, but I as a hot dog purist, I feel that ketchup desicrates a fine hot dog.  On the other hand... to each his own when it comes to taste...

One bite into this juicy "Jumbo Dog" and I was rewarded with a hot dog taste sensation and a CRUNCH, which the trademark of a delicious hot dog made with natural casing.  The perfectly grilled hot dog worked with the fresh bun, and the dill relish, mustard and chopped white onion enhanced the dog, and made it the sort of meal that you'll smile about for a long time.

The name "Dog Gone Good," certainly describes this fine food cart, or pop-up restaurant, as the dogs are simply delicious, the service is exceptionally fast, and the owner and chef, Matthew O. is as friendly as it gets.
