Until paying a visit to Taco Twist, I didn't know "Indian style" tacos existed!  No, I'm not talking about the "Navajo Tacos" that I've enjoyed during visits to the Navajo Nation, I'm talking about the COUNTRY of India, and tacos with truly  an "Indian twist."  That's Taco Twist, located on Foothills Blvd., in Roseville, CA.

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's just a little past the 11:00 in the morning opening time on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, and I've arrived at Taco Twist to enjoy a couple of tacos, with a definite "Indian" twist.  No, I'm not talking about the Navajo Nation and "Navajo Tacos," as I'm talking about the country of India!  Until today, I had never heard of an "Indian" taco...

Photo:  Taco Twist has a tiny dining room, with just a couple of tables, and the small restaurant is dominated by the order counter, along with the tortilla press, toppings trays, and the table where the tacos are assembled.  Dine-in customers are in the minority, as the restaurant caters mostly to the "to-go" crowd.  I'm "old school" as I prefer to enjoy my meal in the ambiance of a dining room.

Does this dining room look familiar?  Until recently, it was Chicago's Pizza with a Twist Foothills, which recently moved over near Top Golf.  Editor's note: I haven't been able to review the new location of Chicago's Pizza.

This storefront seems to be "twisted" on the Indian side of the dining room, as Chicago's Pizza served "Indian" style pizza, and now Taco Twist, with a true "Indian" slant on tacos, occupies the same store.  Hmmm...

Photo:  The poster, along with the remnants of a vintage India-made Tata three-wheeler, say it all about the interesting and delicious tacos served at Taco Twist.  Taco Twist is "Roseville proud!"

Photo:  The "Dream Taco" side of the menu is very simple, and offers seven entrees, two meat choices and three options on the vegetarian side of the plate.  I started at the "top" of the menu and went with "Street Tacos."

Taco Twist works like a taqueria, as you make your choice from the menu, posted over the counter, pay for it, and when your order is ready, it will be placed at the pick-up side of the counter, and you pick up your order from there. If you're dining "in," you simply choose any table of your liking, and if you're doing "to go," you pick up your order and leave.

Photo:  After I placed my order for two "Street Tacos," my hostess got busy and sprayed the tortilla press with non-stick cooking oil and placed two small, flour tortillas on the griddle and cooked them to perfection.

Photo: Fresh toppings are placed in stainless steel trays, and the chef makes your tacos as you watch.  You get to choose as many of the toppings from the selection as your taco can hold, as tacos at Taco Twist are made YOUR way.

Photo:  My hostess squeezes "Tikka Masala" sauce onto my tacos.  The menu states you get two choices of sauce for your tacos, so I started at the "top" and went for "Tikka Masala" and "Siracha."  The sauces made for very delicious and unique tacos!

Photo:  My hostess puts the final touch on my order of "Street Tacos," which was a sprinkling of shredded mixed, and Cheddar cheese.  She simply set them on the counter and said "Your tacos are ready" and disappeared into the kitchen.  No worries as the tacos were delicious!

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I'm getting ready to enjoy my first taste of an "Indian" taco, from the cuisine of India.

Photo:  From the "Dream Taco" section of the menu, I went with two "Street Tacos," with "Greek Lamb" as my choice of protein, along with "Tikka Masala" and "Creamy Siracha" as my "flavors" of choice.  Such an amazing combination, with the cuisines of India and Mexico combined to create some of the most unique tacos I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy!

After placing my order, my hostess immediately went to work, placing two small flour tortillas into the tortilla press. She was a busy lady and had my tacos ready for me to enjoy in less than five minutes.

Each taco is based on a small, DVD-size four tortilla, and toasted on the taco press while you watch.  You have a choice of "Greek Lamb" or "Spicy Chicken" as your... as the menu describes it ... "proteins," which is prepared in the kitchen.  The small flour tortillas were expertly toasted, and my choice of "protein" was "Greek Lamb" which was marinated, juicy and simply delicious.

Next, she applied the two sauces of my choice, and since this was my first time to enjoy an "Indian style" taco, I went at the "top" of the sauce menu and went with "Tikka Masala" and "Creamy Siracha" sauce, which she drizzled on top of the lamb.  Next, she asked me what toppings I wanted, and I replied "as many as you can fit on the taco; it's your choice," and she scooped on mixed lettuce, diced onion, spicy salsa, diced tomato, shredded Cheddar cheese, cilantro, and finished off my order with a slice of fresh lime.  The tacos were a work of art, and almost too pretty to eat!

One bite into my first taco announced that this wasn't a typical Mexican "street taco," as this was an Indian "street taco!" The curry taste of the "Tikka Masala," mixed with the marinated lamb was a totally new taste sensation, and the "Creamy Siracha" added a little bit of heat, and lots of flavor.  The "Spicy Salsa" was definitely from the Country of India, as it wasn't the kind of salsa that you'll find in Tijuana, or any other city in Mexico.  This truly was the "Salsa of India" and it made for a new taste sensation!

Now I can say that I've enjoyed an "Indian" taco, and I can tell you that the tacos I enjoyed at Taco Twist were both unique and delicious!  There's a whole lot of India in Roseville!

Photo:  One of my "Street Tacos," showing all of the fresh, expertly prepared toppings.  These tacos aren't the kind of taco you're used to, if you're a lover of Mexican "street food" like I am.  These tacos are direct from Mumbai, India, and simply delicious!

The "Street Tacos" I enjoyed at Taco Twist were simply delicious, and were like no other tacos that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy.  Mumbai meets Mexico City at Taco Twist, located in Roseville, CA.  When you're in the mood for an entirely different taco experience, pay a visit to Taco Twist.
