Back in 1992, Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant has been serving legendary Chinese cuisine to Rosevillians, and all who appreciate quality Mandarin and Szechuan cuisine. This fine restaurant is located in the Bel Air shopping center, in Roseville, CA. As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant is located in the Bel Air shopping center, in Roseville, CA. It's a little past 12:30 in the afternoon on Friday, July 14, 2023, and I'm hungry and ready to enjoy some great Chinese cuisine. Photo: As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly hostess who will seat you, give you a menu, along with a glass of water. The restaurant has two dining rooms, with mostly booths as furniture in the main dining room. The other dining room has both booths and tables, and several huge round tables, which could seat your whole family, and a few friends. Photo: The main dining room is sparsely decorated, but the seating is very comfortable, and features a mixture of booths and tables. The staff has the booths and tables already set, which is a nice touch. For my taste, the lighting is a little on the dim side, as I prefer bright light when I dine. Photo: You know your fish is always fresh, as the restaurant showcases a huge aquarium with lots of koi and goldfish. Just kidding! These fish are simply decoration and would be too small to enjoy for your meal. Photo: View of the main dining room, showing the central large table, and the many booths and smaller tables. The lighting is on the dim side, so a staff is blurred as she rushes back to the kitchen. Photo: Lunch menu features combinations and special rice plates. I went from the "top" and chose "#1," the "Cashew Chicken Combo" which was simply delicious. Photo: What a better way to begin lunch than with a bowl of "Hot and Sour" soup, and a Tsingtao beer? I was busy taking photos of the restaurant when the staff brought these goodies to my table. When I came back from my photo taking, I was rewarded with all of this goodness. Photo: My appetizer of a bowl of "Hot and Sour" soup, which was simply amazing! The chef at Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant has talent, and prepares great soup! Photo: Meet Kim, my friendly hostess to seated me, and brought my lunch to my table with a smile. Photo: I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready to enjoy an amazing lunch at Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant, along with a Tsingtao beer for dessert. Photo: From the "Luncheons Special Combination" section of the menu, I started at the top of the menu and went with a "#1," which seemed like a great place to begin. Lunch specials are served Monday through Saturday from the opening time of 11:00 in the morning until mid-afternoon. The menu describes this amazing dish as "Cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork, pork fried rice, cookie and soup." As you can expect, the cookie was a pre-packaged fortune cookie which seems to be a de facto standard at most Chinese restaurants. The portion size of the meal was simply enormous, as I enjoyed a mountain of delicious food. In fact, I took half of my lunch home with me to enjoy for dinner. I was given the choice of "Hot and Sour" or Egg Drop Soup" as an appetizer, and I went with "Hot and Sour Soup," as it's my favorite and a standard soup at any Chinese restaurant. As I was taking photos, a small bowl of "Hot and Sour Soup," as an appetizer, along with a bottle of Tsingtao beer. Soup and beer... does it get better for an appetizer? The "Hot and Sour Soup" started with a rich, flavorful broth, with a few sliced shiitake mushrooms, with lots of spicy, sliced tofu and thinly sliced bamboo shoots. As an added bonus, the soup had diced green onion, which added an additional layer to the great flavor and texture. The chef has talent, as this soup was simply amazing, and made a great starter for my lunch at this fine restaurant. My delicious lunch started out with "Cashew Chicken," which is diced, marinated chicken, which I assume was marinated in Chinese cooking wine, but whatever the marinade was, it was wonderful. Veggies included diced bell pepper, chopped onion, diced zucchini, a little garlic, and as a crunchy and special treat... sliced water chestnuts. Cashew nuts were added for more crunch! The chicken, cashews and veggies were stir fried in a rich, savory sauce, which was seasoned to perfection. The "Sweet and Sour Pork," was both sweet and sour and simply delicious. The pork was marinated in a sweet and sour sauce, lightly battered, and fried so it was crispy on the outside, but sweet and tender inside. Like the chicken, it was garnished with a little garlic, diced onion and bell pepper. Delicious! A very generous helping of "Pork Fried Rice" was a side dish. What Chinese meal could be complete without fried rice... well maybe substituting "Chow Mein..." The rice was tasty - most likely jasmine rice - and fried to a perfect brown in soy sauce, and a touch of Chinese cooking wine. Diced ham and fried egg made the rice a meal in itself. The rice had the perfect texture, as it was firm, but tender, and it wasn't crunch or soggy. The rice was perfect. What more can I say about a bottle of Tsingtao beer but... oh yeah!!! The meal was rounded out with the customary, packaged fortune cookie, which added a sweet ending to my wonderful lunch. Cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork, Chinese rice, an appetizer of soup, with a Tsingtao beer for dessert... such an amazing lunch! The food was perfect and the service was great! I recommend Rose Garden Chinese Restaurant as a go-to restaurant in Roseville for great Chinese cuisine. The staff is friendly, the service is great, the staff is friendly, and the food, and the HUGE portions are simply delicious.
