Some restaurants seem to "have it all," including great food, fantastic service, a full bar, and comfortable dining. When it comes to an amazing dining experieince, Lazy Dog, located in Roseville, CA comes to mind... especially considering their spacious, comfortable patio. As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's a little before the 10 o'clock in the morning weekend opening time, Saturday, September 23, 2023, and I've arrived at Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar to enjoy a delicious weekend brunch. Weekday opening times are 11:00, but on weekends the restaurant opens an hour early, and offers a weekend brunch menu. Photo: As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member, who will seat you, give you a menu, and let the servers know that you're seated. Photo: The dining room is absolutely HUGE, and centers around the u-shaped bar, which lots of video monitors, which on this Saturday morning, were tuned to college football. There is a touch of rustic to the attractive dining room, as the supports and beams are natural wood. The dining room is both comfortable and attractive. Photo: The kitchen isn't exactly open to view, but if you carefully peek over the counter, you can get a look at the talented staff performing their magic. Photo: The centerpiece of the dining room is the full-service bar, which mixes every drink that you can imagine. The kitchen is in the rear of the photo. Photo: The large patio is very dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your pet with you. The only rule is that dogs must be well-behaved and on a leash... they are welcome and the restaurant even goes out of their way to provide bowls of water. There is a large fireplace in the center of the patio, but on this late September morning, it wasn't lit, due to the beautiful 70-degree weather. Photo: One of the greeting staff has seated these gentlemen, along with their companion on the patio. The staff dresses very informally, as jeans and flannel shirts are the "uniform" of the day, everyday at Lazy Dog. Photo: The weekend "Brunch" menu. I went for the "Breakfast Burger" as I'm a sucker for burgers, especially for breakfast. Photo: Meet Taylor, my amazingly friendly host, who brought my brunch to me with a smile. Like other guests for brunch, I was treated to a bottle of ketchup and a quartet of delicious sauces to enhance my breakfast. Photo: I'm a happy guy, as I relax on the wonderful patio and I'm ready to enjoy one of the best brunches in Roseville. On this late Saturday morning, the temperature was about 70 degrees, which made for perfect dining outside on the patio. Photo: From the weekend "Brunch" menu, I went with a "Breakfast Burger," which comes with a side of some of best fries you'll ever enjoy in Roseville! The menu describes this amazing breakfast as, "Grilled beef patty, smoked bacon, sunny side up egg, hash browns, Cheddar, bark plus bite sauce, fries." I describe this breakfast simply amazing! The breakfast began with a generous - about a third of a pound - grilled patty of seasoned beef, grilled perfectly medium. I didn't request the meat to be grilled medium, and my host didn't mention how I preferred my beef cooked when he took my order. If medium isn't to your liking, you will need to mention your preference to your server. Whatever the case, I'm a "medium" kind of guy, and the meat was cooked moist, juicy and tender... absolute perfection. The meat patty was served on a fresh, brioche bun, lightly toasted on the grill. Both buns were toasted, and garnished with what the menu calls "Bark plus Bite Sauce," which was a new term for me, but basically it was simply "Thousand Island Dressing." The meat patty rested on a hash brown potato slab, which was similar to what you see in the local supermarket. Topping the meat was a slab of perfectly melted Cheddar cheese, two pieces of bacon, along with a fried egg, sprinkled with oregano. If you had a hangover, this amazing breakfast would be a sure cure... Such a great burger for breakfast! And the side of fries... oh my! The fries were regular cut fries, but they were lightly battered - most likely with beer - and deep fried to a perfect crispy, crunchy golden brown on the outside, yet moist, juicy and tender on the inside. On my first bit into a fry, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, as these fries were INSANELY DELICIOUS! Honestly, it's bee a long time since I've enjoyed such amazing fries... Come for the burger, but stay for the fries. Condiments included the usual bottle of ketchup, and a quartet of spicy barbecue sauce, soy sauce, brown mustard, and a sweet, smoky barbecue sauce. I took a sample from each bottle - with the exception of the ketchup - on a fry, and all were great, but settled on "Bottle #4," the smoky, sweet barbecue sauce, as it made for a delicious dipping condiment, and complimented the crunchy, delicious fries. I enjoyed a pint of draught Coors beer for dessert! The "Breakfast Burger" was simply delicious, and the battered fries made for a great side dish. An added treat was the quartet of in-house-made condiments, which made for a delightful brunch on this late Saturday morning. I have nothing but good things to say about the fine cuisine served at Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar! Photo: "Breakfast Burger" along with the side of fries... this is some of the best food you'll enjoy in Roseville. Photo: I hold my half-eaten breakfast burger, so I can see all the layers of goodness this fine burger offers. This is a Saturday and Sunday weekend treat! My "Brunch Burger" was simply as good as it gets! Come for the burger, but stay for the beer battered fries! The cuisine served at Lazy Dog is as good as it gets... and the friendly service pairs well with the delicious food. Fine dining, any way you look at it... Lazy Dog, located in Roseville, CA.
