Dominick's Italian Market and Deli is a small, family owned and operated deli and store, which offers a great selection of "everything Italian," including deli selections, fresh, in-house sandwiches, Italian groceries and lots more.  Dominick's has become the "go-to" deli in the Granite Bay area of Roseville, CA as the locals have come to appreciate the amazing sandwiches this restaurant offers.

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  Dominick's Italian Market and Deli is located in the Granite Bay district of Roseville, CA in the Granite Rose Shopping Center.  The deli shares space with a small Trattoria and Bar - co-owned and operated with the market and deli - which offers the delicious cuisine served by the deli and additional Italian choices.  The trattoria wasn't open during my visit, as it doesn't open until late morning.

It's a little past the 10:00 in the morning opening time, Friday, April 22, 2023, and I've arrived at Dominick's to enjoy a "Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich," which I'd been hearing about from local "foodies."

Photo:  As you enter the deli, you'll notice the order counter, with the sandwiches and panninis listed, the deli display and the open kitchen behind the counter.  The layout of the deli is both spacious and attractive and reflects the pride locals take in the upscale community.  If you look to the far left of the photo, you can see the entrance to the tratoria, and get a peek at the full-service bar.  Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed during my visit.

The deli operates on what I refer to as the "taqueria" format, as you make your selection from the overhead menu, place your order at the counter, pay for it and in return, receive a receipt.  Then, you seat yourself at any open seat and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you by one of the friendly staff.

There is no seating inside the deli/market, but there is plenty of comfortable seating outside on the sidewalk in front of the deli, and on this 75-degree day, outdoor seating was simply delightful.  I would have sat outside today, even if indoor seating would been an option.

Photo:  The "Pizza and Calzone" menu is displayed above the cash register, and is available from the deli.  The deli/market area is very spacious, attractive and is inviting for all of your Italian shopping needs.

Photo:  A display of Italian canned goods and other grocery items is located near the window.  The market has the best selection of Italian groceries in Placer County, and the deli offers one of the best to-go and dine-in Italian food selections.

Photo:  The "Sandwich Menu" offers both hot and cold "Hero Sandwiches" along with "House Specialty Grilled Panini" sandwiches.  More menu choices are offered from the "Pizza Menu" along with the menu at the co-located restaurant next door.  Dominick's also offers catering choices as well.  I didn't see any printed menus, but the menu is offered on the deli's website, and to-go orders seemed to be very popular on this Friday morning.

The owners of Dominick's, along with the trattoria are originally from New York and New Jersey, and the menu reflects the cuisine of the mid-Atlantic area, with a "walk on the Italian side."

Photo:  The open kitchen is located just behind the order counter, where you can watch the talented staff prepare your order.  Everything is fresh, made in-house from locally-sourced ingredients, when possible.  Note the rolls of freshly-baked bread, ready for delicious sandwiches.

Photo:  Meatballs and more are displayed in the deli case and are sold by the pound.

Photo:  Olives are very popular in Italy and in the deli at Dominick's, you'll find varieties of olives that you won't find at any other place in town.

Photo:  One deli case offers fruit, green and Italian salads, along with coleslaw.  Although it's not Italian, I chose coleslaw as a side for my sandwich.

Photo:  I watch as the talented staff prepares my sandwiches in the open kitchen.  Chef Kiki is seasoning my rolls with melted butter before placing them on the griddle to toast.

Photo:  Meet friendly Kiki, who brought my delicious lunch to me with a smile.  Kiki is not only a great hostess as she's a talented chef, as she prepared my delicious sandwiches.  My meal arrived with a smile, in about fifteen minutes after I placed my order.  Notice the lovely patio, which offers comfortable dining a vantage point to watch the "goings on" happen in the shopping center.

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready to enjoy perhaps the best "Philly Cheese Steak" sandwich in Placer County, along with an order of delicious "Coleslaw."  The Dos Equis beer was my appetizer!

Photo:  From the "Hot Hero Sandwiches" section of the menu, I went with a "Whole Philly Cheese Steak," along with an order of "Coleslaw," fresh from the deli case.

The presentation was attractive, but not fancy, as the sandwiches and salad arrived on a plastic tray, with simple paper as a "plate."  The slaw was served in a little cardboard deli box, in the style of a New York deli.

Each sandwich - my order included two, since I ordered "Whole" - is based on fresh, in-house baked ciabatta roll which was lightly buttered and toasted.  The rolls were "crunchy" on the outside, and sweet and tender inside.  Each roll was about 6-inches in length and matched with the filling perfectly.

Thinly sliced steak, sliced the way it's prepared in Philadelphia was the main ingredient in the sandwich.  The steak was marinated, grilled, juicy and tender, and simply delicious.  Dominick's gives you a large portion of steak in your sandwich, so even if you order a "Half," you'll leave full, especially when you combine your sandwich with a side salad.

Diced red and green peppers along with diced onion completed the vegetable portion of the sandwiches.  Like the meat, the peppers and onion were sauteed on the grill, and perfectly grilled, which added another dimension to this amazing sandwich.  The finishing touch was a large helping of perfectly melted, mild provolone cheese, which added a taste sensation, and held things together.

Each bite into the sandwich was rewarded with a satisfying "crunch," thanks the "crunchy" roll, and the combination of lots of perfectly grilled steak, peppers, onion and lots of gooey provolone cheese made for an "Philly taste sensation" without leaving the Gold Country of California's Sierra Nevada foothills.  Maybe, just maybe I enjoyed the BEST "Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich" EVER!

Lunch isn't complete without a side dish, so I simply went to the deli case and ordered a small side of coleslaw. Like all selections, the salads sold at Dominick's, including the "Coleslaw" is made in-house, from scratch by the talented staff.  The coleslaw seemed to be mostly shredded green and purple lettuce, held together by a creamy mayonnaise dressing, with just enough sweetness and "tang" to made this delicious slaw jump out at you.  On the side were several dill pickle slices, which were wonderful when dipped into the slaw.  The order of coleslaw made a perfect side to my lunch!

Since a "Whole Order" is two complete sandwiches, it would be perfect to share with your significant other, especially if each of your order a side dish from the deli case.

Both the sandwich - I brought the second home with me for dinner - and the coleslaw were simply delicious!  The difference is in the taste and when you enjoy lunch at Dominick's, you can taste the fresh ingredients, and the in-house quality, crafted by the talented staff.  No wonder Granite Bay locals rave about the fine cuisine served at Dominick's Italian Market and Deli!

Photo:  Here's looking at one of the finest "Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches" in Placer County, and maybe even California.  You simply can't go wrong with these fine sandwiches!

Photo:  My order of "Coleslaw" wasn't fancy, but it was fresh, tasty, and made for the perfect side dish.  I loved it! The dill pickle slices added a nice touch to the meal.

Dominick's Italian Market and Deli serves one of the best "Philly Cheese Steak" sandwiches that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy!  The sandwich and "Coleslaw" were simply delicious, the staff was friendly and the dining on the patio was a pleasant experience.  You simply MUST order a selection from the "Hot Hero Sandwiches" section of the menu to taste the goodness!  Dominick's Italian Market and Deli, located in the Granite Bay section of Roseville, CA, serves delicious Italian cuisine...
