For the last fifteen years or so, Fountains of Roseville has become a charming Northern California destination for those who enjoy shopping, strolling, entertainment, people watching, and good food. Speaking of good food, especially when you're thinking about enjoying a great grass-fed burger, you need to pay a visit to Burger Lounge, located in Roseville, CA. As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's early Thursday afternoon, January 06, 2022, and I've arrived for the first time at Burger Lounge, located in Roseville, CA. Burger Lounge is located at the heart of Fountains of Roseville, which includes several attractive fountains in the large traffic circle in the middle of the outdoor mall. The mall is beautifully landscaped, and exhibits the feeling of a small village. It's located across the street from the regional mall, Westfield Galleria of Roseville. Photo: As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the order counter, with the menu posted above it, and you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member, who will cheerfully welcome you to this fine restaurant. Burger Lounge operates on what I refer to as the "taqueria format," where you make your selection from the overhead menu, pay for it, and receive a number. You take your number to the table of your choice, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you by one of the friendly staff. No tips are expected, but they are welcome, of course. I didn't see any printed "to-go" menus, but during my visit, the phone was very busy, and many customers arrived and quickly picked up completed orders to eat elsewhere. Photo: The menu is on a bright, video display, and is located above the order counter. The menu is simple, as it's mostly meat and plant burgers, chicken and fish sandwiches, fries, onion rings and drinks. Drinks include a small selection of beer on tap, wine, Mexican Coke, milkshakes and soft drinks. There is something on the menu for every taste. In the photo, the menu is hard to read, but the complete menu is posted on the restaurant's web site, which is listed at the end of this article. Photo: The kitchen is located next to the order counter, and you can peek into the kitchen, and watch the talented staff at work. Hannah was busy preparing orders, but she took the time to welcome me to the restaurant, and answer my many questions. Photo: The dining room is quite large, but it's separated by partitions into sections, to allow for dining privacy and add to the atmosphere. The furniture is mostly tables and booths combined, which seems to be the trend for many casual restaurants that specialize in burgers. Burger Lounge is a small "fast casual" chain of burger restaurants, which began in the San Diego area back in 2007, and migrated to Roseville a couple years ago. Besides San Diego, there are Burger Lounge locations in the greater Los Angeles area, Bay Area, with one restaurant in Sacramento, and the location in Roseville. Photo: On this early Thursday afternoon, the main dining room is mostly empty, as I arrived during an "off-peak" time, which makes for better photography. The sinage in the dining room leaves no doubt that you're enjoying a fine burger at Burger Lounge. Photo: From the dining room, you can look out onto the patio, and the beautiful, "village-like" view of Fountains at Roseville. Since today was a mild day for early January, I chose to enjoy my meal on the patio, in order to take in the view of the mall, and the staff apologized that patio heaters would not be in operation until evening. Photo: Hannah worked at the kitchen window, assembling orders, but for the dining room and for take out. She was very welcoming and friendly, and treated me like family. Photo: Meet Greg, who cheerfully took my order at the counter and brought it to me, with a smile. My order arrived very quickly, in less than fifteen minutes after placing it. Photo: Today was a very mild day for early January, with temperatures in the low 50's, which made for the perfect opportunity to dine on the wonderful patio, which offers a commanding view of Fountains of Roseville in action. I'm a happy burger lover, as I'm ready enjoy my "Lounge Burger," along with fries and a Coke. Thanks, Greg, for snapping my photo. Photo: From the "Meats" section of the menu, I started at the top and went for the "Lounge Burger," which is the signature burger on the menu. The menu simply describes this burger as, "Grass fed beef, organic Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, Burger Lounge1000 Island dressing." To make my meal complete, I ordered a regular side of "Fresh-Cut French Fries," with a small cup of ketchup, a cup of "Ranch" dressing, and a Mexican Coke to quench my thirst. Since today was my first foray into the culinary world of Burger Lounge, the "Lounge Burger" seemed like a great place to begin. The burger starts with a beef patty that's probably about a third of a pound, with what the menu advertises as "grass fed beef." Excuse me, but I thought all cattle ate grass, alfalfa or similar "vegan" choices? You can easily tell that Burger Lounge uses quality beef, as the beef patty was tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked to medium. My beef patty was cooked medium, which is the way I prefer my meat to be cooked, but if you have other preferences, I'm sure you'd simply have to tell the friendly staff how you preferred your beef to be cooked. The juicy beef patty was topped with melted "organic" Cheddar cheese, and placed on a toasted, sweet, brioche bun, with the perfect meat-to-bun ratio. Thousand Island dressing, diced onion, sliced dill pickles, tomato slices, and lots of crisp, shredded lettuce covered the bun, then the meat and cheese were placed on top of the vegetables. I might add the meat, cheese and bun were warm, and the veggies were cold, which is a benchmark of a superior burger. In the case of the "Lounge Burger," Burger Lounge knows their craft, as this burger was perfect. As listed on the menu, the fries were freshly cut from a potato, which makes for a superior French fry The fries were simply delicious, as they were deep fried to a perfect, golden brown on the outside, and were crispy delicious on the outside, and tender, chewy inside. The fries were simply perfect, as they arrived fresh and hot from the kitchen, and you could s-m-e-l-l the goodness, even before enjoying them. The little cups of ketchup and ranch dressing made for great dipping, but simply as an enhancement, as the fries were "stand-alone" delicious. The bottle of Mexican Coke made for the perfect drink. If you're not familiar with Mexican Coke, it has a distinctive taste, as it uses cane sugar, which sets it apart from American Coke that uses corn syrup for sweetening. Personally, the Mexican version is my favorite variety of Coca Cola. Burger Lounge serves an amazing burger, and the fries are among the best the area has to offer. My lunch was made from quality ingredients, cooked to perfection, and served by friendly staff, who seem to actually enjoy their jobs. Photo: The flagship of the menu, "Lounge Burger" is a big, juicy and delicious burger. I was impressed that the bun, meat and cheese arrived very warm, while the dressing, onion, pickle, tomato and lettuce were cold. The hot and cold combination helps to make a superior burger, and Burger Lounge has that "nailed." I highly recommend this amazing burger! This burger looks delicious, but it tastes even better than it looks! Burger Lounge serves an amazing burger, with some of the best fries in town, and if you're a connoisseur of fine soft drinks, you can't beat a genuine Mexican Coke... the food is delicious, the friendly service is amazing, and the patio is as relaxing and enjoyable as it gets.
