A couple of Sundays ago I was watching the N.F.L. - professional football - NfC West game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49'ers on television. I normally don't pay attention to commercials, but a Burger King advertisement of the "$5 Your Way Meal" grabbed my attention, and sounded like something that I should check out, as I hadn't visited a Burger King store for quite some time. As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's just a little before 11:00 o'clock in the morning, Tuesday, February 08, 2022, and I've arrived at the Foothills Blvd. location of Burger King, in Roseville, CA. Photo: Like most fast food restaurants, most of the action takes place at the drive-through, and the Foothills location of Burger King is no different. I fail to see the attraction, as I always prefer to dine inside, but I suppose that I'm simply "old school..." Photo: As you enter the restaurant, the first thing you'll notice is the order counter, to the right. The Foothills Blvd. location of Burger King is your typical fast food restaurant, as it's spacious, clean, well-lit, and the decor is very spartan and functional, to say the least. Photo: As in all fast food restaurants, you make your selection from the menu, which is posted above the order counter, pay for it, receive a receipt, and when your order is ready, your number is called. You pick up your order at the pick-up window, located next to the order window. I noted the national media-advertized "Five Dollar Your Way Value Meal" wasn't posted on the menu, or featured on a poster, so I asked the staff. Here's a caveat: Many Burger King outlets are franchises and don't offer the national specials. So... ask the staff. Today, I got lucky, as my restaurant was serving the value meal! The complete menu for breakfast and lunch selections are posted on the inside menu, but the menu at the drive-through is on a video board, and changes from breakfast to lunch/dinner selections as the time changes. Check out both breakfast and lunch/dinner menus by clicking on this link. I arrived during a slack period, as I had the whole dining room to myself, and there were only a couple cars in the drive through line. My order was ready in about two minutes, and I simply picked it up from the counter when it was ready. Photo: The dining room is large, spacious, and very tidy and clean. The furniture is all tables, as the booths that once lined the walls have been removed. Is this because of the virus, or is the dining room ready to undergo a redecoration? The decor is definitely plain and simply functional, as to be expected in a fast food restaurant dining room. During my visit, I was the only dine-in customer, as the drive-through kept the staff very busy. Photo: Meet Eric, the friendly staff member who was working the order counter, and taking drive through orders at the same time. He, along with the two other staff members were friendly, efficient, and treated me well. Unfortunately, due to the still-lingering effects of COVID, the management at Burger King has decided that all meals, whether dine-in, to-go or drive-through, are to be packaged in a bag for take-out. Since I was going to be enjoying the pleasure of the dining room, I had requested a tray and utensils, but it didn't happen that way. Photo: I'm a happy guy as I'm ready to enjoy my "Five Dollar Your Way Value Meal" for today's early lunch. Photo: I went with the promotional "Five Dollar Your Way Value Meal," which included a "Double Whopper Jr.," a small order of "Classic Fries," a "4-piece Chicken Nuggets," along with a small drink. My choice of dipping sauce was "Honey Mustard," and I sent with a Diet Coke for my drink of choice. For $5.00 plus tax, you can't beat the price of this lunch! The meal features the "Double Whopper Jr.," as the main entree, and like the name implies, it's a smaller, carbon-copy of it's big brother. The burger includes two small "flame-grilled" beef patties, tender, juicy and perfectly grilled. Each patty was on the small size, and I'd guess the weight of both patties was probably four or five ounces, before cooking. Layered on top of the meat was fresh lettuce, a tomato slice, dill pickle slices, and a slice of white onion. The meat and condiments were on a soft, sesame seed bun, and the burger was dressed with ketchup, and a little mayonnaise. The burger was perfectly cooked, made of fresh ingredients, and made for a great lunch entree. The small order of "Classic Fries" were deep fried perfectly, and salted just right, and arrived piping hot from the kitchen, which was truly welcome. The nuggets were basically tender pieces of chicken, coated in a batter with bread crumbs, and deep fried just right. Both the fries and the nuggets tasted great, as you'd expect from a quality fast food restaurant, and made a perfect side to the burger. Kudos go to Burger King for getting the mix of the Diet Coke perfect! The difference between an AMAZING Coke, and a Coke that tastes like dishwater is in the mix, and Burger King simply "nailed" the mix! My burger, fries and nuggets were ready at the pick-up window in only a couple of minutes after I placed my order. I was pleasantly surprised at the LIGHTNING-FAST service, along with the freshness of my meal. The burger was made fresh, and hadn't been sitting under a heat lamp. I mush hand it to Burger King, as the "Five Dollar Your Way Value Meal" is a great meal and an outstanding value. Photo: I opened up the "Double Whopper Jr." to take a look at all of the junior burger goodness inside. The "junior" size burger was good, tasty, and tasted exactly like it's big brother. I was pleasantly surprised to find that everything was fresh about this fine, little burger! I enjoyed the "Chicken Nuggets" and the "Classic Fries," as they made for outstanding sides. Photo: I took a bite into my "Double Whopper Jr." and was rewarded by the taste of a freshly made burger. You get an idea of the small size of the burger, as I hold it. For $5.00, plus tax, you can't beat this meal! Yes, it's generic, it's fast food, but the meal is good, tasty and the price is right. The staff at the Roseville Foothills Burger King location are friendly, efficient, and will treat you right. Add everything up, and it makes for a winning combination of a meal, your way.
