Any day of the year, and any time, no matter what the weather is like, for me, it's grilling season, but local nursery Green Acres Nursery and Supply held a "Grill-A-Palooza," the last Saturday in May, 2026, to kick off the "official" start of grilling season. This fun event was billed as a "celebration of outdoor grilling, and included vendor shows, grilling demonstrations, free small bite samples, cold beer, live music, and lots of fun! A family-friendly celebration of grilling in Roseville, CA! Photo: It's 11:00 o'clock in the morning, Saturday, May 30, 2026, and I've arrived at a very busy Green Acres Nursery and Supply to enjoy grilling, great food, cold beer, entertainment and more! It's "Grill-A-Palooza" time! Green Acres Nursery and Supply is located on Galilee Rd., in Roseville, CA, and is one of the largest nurseries in Placer County. This event was billed as, "Grill-A-Palooza, a celebration of outdoor grilling, with grilling, great food, cold beer, live entertainment with event day details." Photo: Here's a sign posted in the parking lot that lists all of the fun things happening at today's special event. I found out about this several weeks ago on social media, as I try to keep an eye on local "foodie" events. Photo: The event featured a lineup of around a dozen barbecue sauce and spice vendors, who were grilling fine cuisine, and giving away free samples to showcase their fine products. There was also a group of major-name grill vendors giving demonstrations of their grills and highlighting grilling tips and techniques.
Photo: Danny Young, of Prohibition BBQ L.L.C., an El Dorado county-based vendor of rubs, sauces and seasonings, cuts grilled tri-tip for the small bite samples his store was giving out to highlight the great products they sell. Danny did the grilling, while Kristen handed out samples. Photo: Co-owner Kristen hands out a sample of grilled tri-tip and pulled pork to one of the many "foodies" enjoying today's event. Photo: My sample of grilled tri-tip, pulled pork, along with a chicken wing. I enjoyed "Original BBQ Sauce" on my chicken, and the tri-tip and pulled pork were rubbed with "Rebel's Wing Roost Rub." I loved it all! Prohibition BBQ L.L.C. Photo: Pawpa Flavor LLC, a local Roseville operation, was offering samples of tri-tip and chicken, which highlighted some of the seasonings the company produces. Pawpa Flavor LLC produces seasonings, rubs, brines, BBQ sauces and hot sauces, and had many of them for sale at today's event. Photo: Chicken and tri-tip were being grilled at the event for "small bite" samples. Photo: I'm a happy guy as I toast the friendly staff at Pawpa Flavor LLC with a sample of grilled tri-tip. Photo: Grilled tri-tip, seasoned with "All Flavor," which made for an attractive and delicious crust to my sample of meat. Pawpa Flavor LLC Photo: Oden's Kitchen is a family-run spice and rub company, located in Rocklin, and it's a family act, as all family members contribute. Dad does the grilling, Mom ends the crock pot, makes sandwiches and oversees the operation, while Brother and Sister hand out samples. The youngest member of the family seems to offer technical support as needed. Photo: Mom prepares small samples of tri-tip, which showcases their "All-Purpose Rub," also known as "The All Father." Photo: Brother and Sister smile for the camera, as Mom pauses from her sandwich duties to watch the event unfold. Brother and Sister did a great job in handing out samples. Photo: Sister hands out a sample of Dad's grilled chicken, rubbed with "Basic Blend" run, also known as "Basic B." Photo: My delicious samples of a small pulled pork sandwich, along with a "small bite" of chicken. Delicious! Oden's Kitchen Photo: Live entertainment was provided by Elise Nova, a local singer/songwriter, who sang many of her own compositions. Photo: Josh hands out samples, while his partner, Dave, works the grill. These guys are the chefs and owners of Bearfoot Calif. BBQ, a Granite Bay-local company that produces and sells delicious "California style" barbecue sauce. The company produces three "California style" barbecue sauces: "Apricot Habnero, Fig Serrano" and "Pomegranate Fresno." They all are "fruity" sauces and include a combination of heat and sweetness, and they're all simply AMAZING! Photo: Meet Mr. Josh Bauer, co-owner of Bearfoot Calif BBQ as he showcases a bottle of his delicious "Pomegranate Fresno" barbecue sauce. Photo: My "small bite" sample of grilled tri-tip, with a sample of "Apricot Habanero" sauce. This made for a winning combination, as both the sauce and the meat were out-of-this-world delicious! With a name like "Apricot Habanero" you'd expect the sauce to be blazing hot, but that wasn't the case. The heat was on the medium side, which worked perfectly for me, and the sweetness was right in the middle. This barbecue sauce was an absolute winner! About the "Fig Serrano and the "Pomegranate Fresno" varieties, I couldn't decide which one I loved the most. I brought a bottle of the "Apricot Habanero" home with me and I plan to purchase the other flavors, since they're available at my local supermarket. Another superior Placer County local product! Photo: A grilling and "foodie" event, such as today's "Grill-A-Palooza" wouldn't have been complete without a beer garden, and thanks to Urban Roots Brewery and Smokehouse, a Sacramento craft brewery and restaurant, today's event was complete. Local singer Elise Nova provided live music to add to the festive atmosphere. Photo: Green Acres Nursery and Supply was gracious to give the first 150 attendees a free beer! All you had to do was visit one of the vendors, ask to get your hand stamped, and enjoy a cold one on the house. Photo: Three varieties of Sacramento-brewed beer were offered at the event. I began with the "Like Riding A Bike" and eventually enjoyed all three fine, craft beers. Photo: The friendly bartender fixed me up with my first beer on the house, thanks to the generosity of the host. I absolutely adore a great West Coast IPA, and "Like Riding A Bike" is as good as it gets. Photo: I toast my friendly bartender with a "Like Riding A Bike" West Coast IPA, and the great staff at Green Acres Nursery and Supply for hosing this festive event. Cheers! Urban Roots Brewery and Smokehouse Photo: Cuso Cuts came all the way from Rochester, NY to set up shop, prepare delicious "Jambalaya" on the griddle, and highlight some of the many all-natural blends and seasonings the company produces. Chef Jack, a.k.a., "Chef Cuso" himself, was running the show and chatting with fellow "foodies." Photo: Chef Jack and staff prepare delicious "Jambalaya" to showcase some of the delicious products they produce. Photo: Chef Jack seasons a pan of freshly-prepared "Jambalaya" with some of his "Spicy Garlic Buffalo" seasoning. Unlike other vendors, you grabbed a bowl and helped yourself, as Jack and his sous chef kept the food coming. Photo: My delicious bowl of "Jambalaya," seasoned with Cuso's "Spicy Garlic Buffalo" seasoning, which added zest and flavor to this amazing dish. The "Jambalaya" was truly deluxe, as it included steak, shrimp, eggs, green onion, seasoning, and, naturally, lots of rice. Photo: One bite of well-seasoned steak... simply delicious! Cuso Cuts Grilling season 2026 got off to a roaring staff for Placer County grill enthusiasts, at this year's Green Acres Nursery and Supply "Grill-A-Palooza" event, held at their sprawling nursery, located on Galilee Rd. in Roseville. Great food, cold beer, live music and great people helped to make the event perfect for greater Sacramento area grill enthusiasts, "foodies" and everyone who appreciates the art of grilling. Shout out to the great people at Green Acres Nursery and Supply, located in Roseville, CA. for throwing such an amazing grilling event!
