During the past four years, Trax Taproom and Kitchen, located in downtown Roseville, CA become a hangout for Roseville locals who enjoy great pub cuisine, friendly service and the 30-something mostly west coast beers the restaurant serves on tap.  Trax has become the go-to spot to relax, enjoy a great beer, mingle with friends, and watch the happenings of downtown Roseville from the comfort of the taproom.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's about 12:20 in the afternoon, on a very chilly and rainy Friday, April 10, 2026, and I'm ready to enjoy an amazing lunch at The Trax Taproom and Kitchen, located in downtown Roseville, CA.  The restaurant/taproom gets it's name from the railroad tracks, which are just behind the restaurant.

Roseville is home to Union Pacific Railroad's Roseville Yard, which is one of the largest railroad freight switching yards in the western United States.  Roseville began as a "railroad town," and it still retains much railroad legacy, as the railroad yard is simply enormous, and Union Pacific is one of the largest employers in town.

As an aside, Union Pacific Railroad runs the world's largest operating steam locomotive for excursions and publicity, #4014, also known as "Big Boy.  During April, 2026 , as part of Union Pacific's "coast to coast steam tour," #4014 headed a special train west to Roseville, to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America.  Today, the locomotive was in the Roseville yard on public display.  To see more about this great event, click on my Big Boy article.

Photo:  The centerpiece of the dining room is the large bar at the rear, with thirty west coast beers on tap, including several brewed locally, in Sacramento or Auburn.  There are several television monitors tuned to sports, and a large, railroad-theme mural on the wall, which depicts the days when steam engines ruled the rails.

Photo:  Trax features a full-service bar and the talented staff can fix you up with any mixed drink that you can imagine.  There is an ever-changing rotation of craft beers on tap, which are listed on a video board behind the bar.

I always have difficulty choosing what beer to enjoy, as I love them all.  No worries, as Trax Taproom and Kitchen has you covered, as they offer flights of four beers, with four beers of your choice.  I went with a flight... as bartender Marissa begins to work on my flight.

Photo:  One page of the menu showing the "Handhelds" and "Bigger Bites."  Most of the menu could be labeled as "pub fare," which is a great thing, as it's all delicious.  Anything listed on the menu is available anytime the restaurant is open.

Photo:  Meet friendly bartender Marissa, who brought my flight of beer to me with a smile.  Today, I randomly went with the first four odd-numbered brews on the menu.  The on-tap beer menu is dynamic, as it constantly changes, which keeps life interesting.  Thank goodness for flights, as it's a great way to sample new beers!

Photo:  My flight of four samples, the first three "odd numbered" beers - along with a cider - completed today's adventure into the sky.  Here we go...

#1:  Belching Beaver "Tropical Punch"  - Hard seltzer, brewed in Oceanside.  Sparkling punch/cider taste.  I prefer beer.
#3:  Pizza Port "California Honey Ale" - Blonde ale, brewed in Carlsbad.  Delicious pale ale, almost like an IPA.  I loved it!
#5:  High Water "Campfire Stout" - American, brewed in Tracy.  This beer was dark, and tasted like coffee.
#7:  Feather Falls "Soaring Eagle" - German pilsner.  I love pilsners and I loved this beer!

Alright, here is:  I absolutely LOVED the "Honey Ale" and the "Soaring Eagle," and I give them complete equality as my favorites.  The "Campfire Stout" was alright if you like coffee with your beer, and the "Tropical Punch" was seltzer with alcohol.

That's the beauty of a flight, as you get to sample a little bit of everything for every taste.

Photo:  I toast friendly Bartender Marissa, Trax Taproom and Kitchen, along with Union Pacific Railroad #4014 with a "Tropical Punch."  Cheers!

Photo:  Marissa does double duty as bartender and server, as she takes an order from the kitchen window to bring to a fellow diner.  This restaurant offers great dining and good vibrations!

Photo:  Meet Julia, my friendly hostess who brought my "Trax Double Decker Burger" and fries to me with a smile.  Julia has been with the restaurant since it opened over four years ago, and is the manager, but she also spends time in the kitchen.  She's truly multi-talented!

Photo:  I toast my gracious hostess Julia with a shot of "Soaring Eagle" before enjoying the rest of my flight, and my delicious lunch.

Photo:  From the "Bigger Bites" section of the menu, I went with "Trax Double Decker Burger," which included a side of beer battered fries, along with a cup of ketchup and a cup of ranch dressing, which made for perfect fry dipping.  My flight of beers did double duty for me, as it served as both an appetizer and as dessert.

The menu describes this delightful burger as, "Two beef patties, American cheese, red onion, mixed greens, tomato and pickles.  Served with fries."  I describe it as one of the best burger and fry combinations in western Placer County.

The delicious double decker began with two large seasoned, tender beef patties, grilled medium, and topped with two slices of American cheese, perfectly melted to enhance the beef patties.  Each bun was lightly buttered, and toasted to a light, golden brown, with a little mayonnaise spread on each bun, to enhance the taste, and to help hold things together.  The meat and cheese were on top, and beneath the meat I found fancy lettuce, tomato slices, red onion slices, and finally, a layer of sliced dill pickles.  All of this goodness added up to a top shelf cheeseburger!

I was pleasantly surprised to find the fries were lightly beer battered, deep fried to a perfect, golden brown, and sprinkled with fine parsley flakes.  The outside of the fries were crunchy, golden brown, while the inside was white, tender and chewy.  When I bit into the fries, I was rewarded with a satisfying "crunch" and a rush of delicious flavor.  Like the "Trax Double Decker Burger," these fries were simply delicious.

Between the "Trax Double Decker Burger," and the fries, Trax Taproom and Kitchen has you covered with one of the best burgers in the area, and a side of fries that you'll remember.  Count on Trax as a double burger destination.

Photo:  I hold up my "Trax Double Decker Burger" so I can see all the layers of goodness this premium burger has to offer.  It was truly a work of art, and almost to pretty to bite into.  Well... almost, as I succumbed to temptation and took my first bite... and then went back for more.  This burger was simply delicious!

Good times, good food, good beer and great staff and lots of fun... Trax Taproom and Kitchen has it all, in downtown Roseville, CA.  As the motto of the restaurant states, "Good times, Good beer..." I'll drink to that!
