Rocklin, CA is home to one of the best burger restaurants in Placer County, and... perhaps California?  When I'm talking about a top shelf burger in Rocklin, I'm talking about  Moo Moo's Burger Barn, where you'll enjoy one of the amazing burgers in western Placer County.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little past 09:00 in the morning, Saturday, March 28, 2026, and I've arrived at Moo Moo's Burger Barn, located in the Stanford Ranch Plaza in Rocklin, CA to enjoy a delicious breakfast.  Moo Moo's opens early at 08;00 on weekends for breakfast, but selections from the lunch menu are served anytime the restaurant is open.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted and seated at a table, booth or counter of your choice.  Moo Moo's specializes in burger and sandwiches, but it's a full-service restaurant, complete with a friendly server and a menu.

Take-out menus are placed on the counter, which you can take home with you if you want to enjoy your meal elsewhere.  All items are the menu are available to-go, as the restaurant serves a large to-go clientele who prefer to order online, or by phone and dine their meal elsewhere.

Photo:  The dining room is very large, spotlessly clean, decorated in a contemporary decor, and will make you feel comfortable and at home.  The furniture is a mixture of tables and booths, and there is counter seating around the kitchen.  There are also several large television monitors that were tuned to news programs.

Today I "opened up" the restaurant, and during the first fifteen minutes of my visit, I had the entire dining room to myself, which made for great photo-taking so as not to annoy other diners.

Photo:  Today I sat at the counter, as when I dine solo, I prefer the counter, as it's a great place to chit-chat with the staff, assuming they're not to busy, and it's a great vantage point to watch all of the action that's happening.  On this beautiful morning in late March, I looked out the entry doors to the small, upscale shopping center, and I realized that all was good with my spring morning.

Photo:  Here's the burger and sandwich page from the current menu.  Printed take-out menus of regular and weekend menus are available to take home with you, as the restaurant does a brisk phone-in order business.  You can also order from their website.

Photo:  My order is ready, placed on the kitchen window, and Jenna picks it up to deliver to me, just across the counter.

Photo:  Meet Jenna A., my amazingly friendly server, who brought my "Classic Moo" burger and beer-battered fries to me with a smile.  As she performed her duties, Jenna and I had quite a chat about area restaurants, food and dining in general.  I told her all about this website, gave her my business card, and talked her up on my Facebook forum, Gold Country Dining.  She said she'll check it out.

Photo:  I'm a happy burger guy, as I raise my glass and toast Jenna, the beautiful Saturday morning, and the fine burgers served at Moo Moo's Burger Barn, located in Rocklin, CA.

Photo:  Today, I started at the top of the "Burger" section of the menu, and I went with their "signature" burger, the "Classic Moo," along with an order of beer battered fries,  The menu describes the classic as, "On a sesame seed bun with "Moo Sauce," lettuce, tomato and red onions."  I couldn't help myself, so I ordered an optional slice of melted pepper jack cheese, along with a Modelo Negro Mexican beer for an appetizer... or was it dessert?  Jenna gave me a little cup of ranch dressing on the side for dipping, which was an added bonus.  Give me ranch over ketchup, please.

Gee, what an understatement in describing such a wonderful burger!  Allow me to elaborate... First, "Moo Sauce" is nearly identical to Thousand Island dressing, which makes this an "old school" burger.  If you're not a fan of "Moo Sauce," you can have it omitted, or served on the side, and dress your burger with ketchup, mustard, or Tabasco sauce, which inhabit the counter everywhere, in plastic squeeze bottles.

This classic burger started with a fresh, sesame seed bun, stuffed with a third-pound, perfectly-cooked beef patty, cooked medium, along with fresh lettuce, tomato and red onion.  The burger is garnished with "Moo Sauce," and - surprise! - includes a fresh dill pickle slice on the side.  You can order your burger a-la-carte, or you can choose sides, including beer battered fries - which I chose today - regular fries, onion rings, sweet potato fries, coleslaw or a house garden salad, all at the same price.  Note, unlike many other restaurants, there is no additional charge for onion rings.

The beef patty was perfectly grilled to medium, as per my request, and was juicy, tender and delicious.  The meat was covered with a slice of perfectly melted pepper jack cheese, and the burger was garnished with crisp, fresh fancy lettuce, tomato slices, along with a slice of red onion, all sandwiched between the amazing fresh and delicious sesame seed bun.

It was love at first bite!  The delicious meat, cheese, veggies and bun worked in harmony to create a burger sensation.  As I savored my first bite, I noted the bun, meat and melted cheese were warm, and the lettuce, tomato an onion were chilled.  The warm mixed with chilled added an extra dimension to this amazing burger, and elevated it to the top of the Rocklin burger shelf.

The icy-cold Modelo Negro beer in the frosted glass truly made this amazing brunch complete.  Such a great dessert!

I had originally intended to enjoy breakfast, but when I opened the menu and saw the "Classic Moo," I just HAD to go for a burger, as I couldn't help myself. During my visit, I enjoyed quite a chat with Jenna and I promised her I'd return in three weeks for breakfast.  She'll be on duty, so I'll be looking forward to a great breakfast, another beer, and her friendly company.

Moo Moo's Burger Barn serves an amazing burger!  This fine restaurant should be a destination for all burger enthusiasts.

Photo:  I cut my burger in half so I could admire the juicy goodness, and to make I a little easier to eat.  You know, take a bit, put it down, grab a fry, dip fry into ranch dressing, pop in mouth, take another bite of burger, another fry, repeat... repeat and repeat.

Now that you've read this article, you know that I'm a dedicated fan of Moo Moo's Burger Barn!  Since I'm always in the mood, or perhaps I should say I'm always in the "moo-d..." for a great burger... Moo Moo's Burger Barn fits right in, as they serve some of the best burgers in western Placer County.  Cheers!
