Fat Dawg Cafe is located on the sidewalk, in front of the Fairway Drive Home Depot, Roseville, CA location, so when you're shopping for all of your home improvemen needs, it's easy to grab one of Jennifer's delicious hot dogs... or maybe even a tri tip sandwich, a burrito, or a couple of  Mexican style "street tacos." You'll be rewarded with an amazing meal, along with a friendly word and a smile from Jennifer, the friendly chef, and owner of this fine restaurant.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  Good morning!  Fat Dawg Cafe is located in a small building in front of the Fairway Drive Home Depot location in Roseville, CA.  The restaurant is a favorite of Home Depot employees, customers, and anybody who appreciates a delicious hot dog at a very reasonable price.

Over the past fifteen years or so, I've visited this fine restaurant countless times, as I can't resist hot dogs, sandwiches or tacos.  The gracious owner of the restaurant, Jennifer Johnson, adds to the fine dining and the friendly atmosphere.

Photo:  Good Wednesday morning!  It's a little past 09:30 in the morning, Wednesday, March 24, 2026, and today, I'm enjoying a "Spicy Cajun," presented by friendly Chef Shannon.  Shannon works the restaurant Sunday through Wednesday, and owner Jennifer picks up the other three days of the week.  You can enjoy their fine "American" cuisine every day of the week until five in the afternoon.

Photo:  I'm a happy hot dogger as I hold my "Spicy Cajun" dog with pride, ready to enjoy.  I simply LOVE hot dogs!

Photo:  From the "Fat Dawgs" section of the hot dog menu, I went with a "Spicy Cajun" dressed with all of the trimmings, with the exception of ketchup, as ketchup desecrates a hot dog and is a crime against nature.

My delicious jumbo-sized hot dog began with a large, quarter pound, premium dog, complete with natural casing, and grilled to perfection.  The dog was placed on a large, fresh bun, which matched the size of the dog, and left a little of the dog peeking out at both ends.  I requested "everything" for my dog, except ketchup, and my dog was dressed with mustard, dill pickle relish, diced white onion, sauerkraut, and pickled jalapeņo chili pepper slices, for lots of flavor and a little bit of heat.  The dog, along with the fixin's matched the bun perfectly, which is crucial to a quality hot dog.

Despite the name "Spicy Cajun," the dog was quite mild, yet I could detect a slight "kick," but nothing that your 83 year old grandmother couldn't handle.  Most of the heat came from the pickled jalapeņo chili pepper slices that I'd requested.  So if heat doesn't agree with you, leave off the pickled jalapeņo chili pepper slices and you'll be fine, and you'll enjoy the flavor of this delicious hot dog.

It was love at first bite, as I was rewarded with a "snap," thanks to the natural casing, along with a tender bite of the dog, and a rush of juicy flavor.  The mustard, relish, sauerkraut, onion, along with the jalapeņo slices really enhanced the dog, and the fresh bun held it all together.  "Spicy Cajun" is an amazing hot dog, and it will spice up your life when you savor your first bite!

Photo:  I cut my "Spicy Cajun" dog in half, so I could see all the layers of goodness this fine hot dog had to offer.  Simply delicious!

Lets go back three months to Friday, January 02, 2026, where I enjoyed the company of owner Jennifer Johnsen, and a "BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich" along with an order of "Nachos" as a side dish.

Good morning!  It's a little past 10:30 in the morning, Friday, January 02, 2026, and I'm off to start the new year right with my first dining adventure in 2026 at Fat Dawg Cafe, located on Fairway Drive, at Home Depot, in Roseville, CA.

Photo:  The menu is quite compact and is posted in front, so it's easy to see when you place your order.  Since my last visit, back on Friday, September 05, 2025, there weren't any changes on the menu prices, which was a welcome sight.

Photo:  I looked through the order window at Jennifer, as she placed tri tip beef on the grill to get my sandwich started.

Photo:  Jennifer grills my tri tip with a smile.

Photo:  Meet Jennifer Johnsen, the super friendly owner of Fat Dawg Cafe, as she shows me the delicious "BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich" she has just made for me. Between her delicious food and her friendly hospitality, my Friday was made complete late in the morning.

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I hold my "BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich," and prepare to enjoy an order of "Nachos," with EVERYTHING!  You can't ask for better food, friendlier service than what you enjoy at Fat Dawg Cafe, located at Home Depot on Fairway Blvd, in Roseville, CA.  This is certainly fine Gold Country Dining!

Photo:  "BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich."  How many ways can you say the word "delicious?"  This sandwich pretty well sums up the word, and you can also add the adjective "perfection" to the description.

The sandwich began with a generous portion of tri tip beef, grilled to perfection on the grill, outside in front of the restaurant.  Melted American cheese, diced white onion and bell pepper were added.  It all was stacked together on a toasted, lightly buttered hoagie roll, which was just the right size to keep everything together, and add goodness.  There was no barbecue sauce, but it wasn't needed, as this sandwich was standalone delicious!  Looking back, I'm sure if I had felt the need for barbecue sauce all I would have had to have done is to have asked my friendly chef, as I'm sure she had some on hand.

My only complaint, and it's microscopic, is the tri tip beef was from the day before, as I arrived a little after 10:00 in the morning, just as Jennifer was firing up the grill, and adding meat for today's business day.  That's what happens when you arrive early!  No worries, as this sandwich was simply delicious.

The first bite into this delicious sandwich was pure tri tip heaven... it was juicy goodness, with love at first bite!  I believe I'm in love this sandwich, and it really rates high on the ladder with the amazing hot dogs I've enjoyed during previous visits to Fat Dawg Cafe.

Photo:  To compliment my "BBQ Tri Tip Sandwich," I went with an order of "Nachos" as a side, with everything on them.  Yes, I specified "everything," as that's the way I like my nachos... EVERYTHING!

EVERYTHING on my nachos included gooey, melted American cheese - yowza! - chili, diced onions and pickled jalapeņo chili pepper slices.  Yes... I said chili on my nachos... delicious, made in-house with loving care and skill.  Jennifer asked me twice whether I wanted hot jalapeņo chili pepper slices on my nachos and it was a resounding YES!! on my part.  I truly enjoy pickled jalapeņo chili pepper slices on almost anything, at almost any time.

This was a "splurge" on my part, as I normally don't treat myself to such an indulgence, but since today was January 2, 2026, and my first dining adventure of the new year... why not splurge a little bit and enjoy?

Today's "splurge" was worth it, as the nachos were simply delicious!  This was fine Placer County dining, and a great way to begin a new year of fine dining.

You'll LOVE Jennifer's delicious hot dogs, tacos, sandwiches, nachos and more as everything  on the menu is simply delicious AND you'll be rewarded with Jennifer's amazingly friendly service and awesome culinary skills.  You'll love the great meal you enjoy at Fat Dawg Cafe, located in Roseville, CA.  No matter what your pleasure, you'll enjoy great hot dogs, friendly service, and a great way to make your day, and your dining, complete.
