In addition to the hamburgers, desert dogs and burritos, the dinner menu for Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Chef Andy's Ruff Rock Run Café, during Hi-Desert Roundup, 2010 advertised a T-bone steak dinner with all of the fixin's, and that sounded too good for us to pass on.  Think of it:  A perfectly cooked T-bone steak in the desert that you don't have to cook, and you don't have to do dishes.  You just can't pass on that!

When you order Sunday night dinner at Chef Andy's, there is an added bonus, as if there are any side dishes left over from the Saturday night barbecue dinner, Chef Andy places them on the salad bar, as potato salad and seafood salad don't keep very well.  So in addition to a delicious T-bone steak, you can help yourself to the salad bar, and load up your plate with all of the goodies.

Tonight, Robert, Matthew and I were in complete agreement, as after a hungry day of enjoying the vehicle games, we all hungered for a steak dinner.

Photo:  U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Robert Kipperman can't wait to dig into his delicious steak dinner.  Robert especially enjoyed the fried cabbage, seasoned with bacon.

Photo:  I asked Matthew what he thought of his dinner, and he gave it a thumbs up, while enjoying an after-dinner smoke.

We went to Marilyn, placed or order, paid her, and she handed us a paper plate.  Then, cafeteria style, you move to the right, where a friendly girl places a roll on your plate, another girl gives you a helping of corn, and then it's to the fried cabbage station.  Andy shreds the cabbage, mixes in bacon slices, and fries it on the griddle, and Andy's fried cabbage makes a delicious side dish to accompany the T-bone steak.  It may not make the health police happy, but it sure is good.  While you're getting your cabbage dished up, Andy cooks your steak to order, and will be happy to add grilled mushrooms if that's what you want.  Matthew, Robert and I all had our steaks cooked medium.

Photo:  You can barely see my steak, corn, mashed potatoes and cabbage, as its covered with seafood and potato salad.  I've never met a potato or seafood salad that I didn't love, and Chef Andy's is no exception to the rule, so I piled my plate high.  I went back for seconds of the salad, so I went to be quite stuffed with delicious food.

My companions didn't seem to care about the salad bar, as they made their way back to camp, but I took a couple of minutes to add a huge scoop of potato salad and seafood salad to my dinner.  The extra salad pretty much covered everything else, but I didn't care, as it's all good.

We sat around camp enjoying a few beers and a delicious steak dinner, cooked at Hi-Desert Roundup, at Chef Andy's Ruff Rock Run Café.
