Memorial Day Weekend, 2010, we attended the 39th Hi-Desert Roundup, which is, in our opinion, one of the premier four wheel drive events in the country.   Click on the link of interest to relive the fantastic weekend in the desert that we enjoyed.

Hi-Desert Roundup:  If you're never enjoyed Hi-Desert Roundup, or you're not familiar with CA4WDC, this is the place to begin, as it will give you an overview of this year's event.

Safety Check:  At any CA4WDC event, before you're allowed on the train, you have to pass a vehicle safety check. At Hi-Desert Roundup 2010, safety duties were performed by the San Diego 4 Wheelers.

Registration:  After passing the safety check and placing a sticker on your vehicle, if you've pre-registered, you go over to registration and pick up your registration package, raffle and dinner tickets, and other goodies.

Our Camp:  After taking care of business, we set up our camp, close, but yet on the fringes of H.D.R. base camp, as we like to party, and we don't want to disturb those who aren't of the persuasion.

Chef Andy's Ruff Rock Run Café:  Chef Andy sets up a complete restaurant in the desert, so you don't have to cook. The link will take you to a write-up of each meal we enjoyed, with lots of photos.

Blue Moon Trail Run:  Led by Jessie May of the Dirt Devils, this scenic run was fun and rated a relatively easy score of "2," but in terms of fun, it was rated a perfect "10."

Saturday Night Barbecue:  Chef Andy cooks beef over hardwood coals in a six-foot deep, earth-covered pit for 18 hours, and the delicious meal was served with all of the fixin's.

Vehicle Games:  Sunday, you have your choice of running a few trails, or attending the vehicle games, which are like a four wheel drive rodeo.  We chose the games, held a mile or so north of base camp.

Sunday Awards:  The climax of the event is held Sunday night, where awards are presented to both children and adults, followed by the raffle, with lots of great prizes, including a Warn 9.5ti winch.
