Picture this:  You're in Anaconda, Montana, it's 3 o'clock in the morning, you're hungry, and you're looking for a restaurant where you can grab a great meal at a fair price.  No problem, just head over to Copper City Bowl and Café, located just outside downtown Anaconda for your meal, as the restaurant is open 24/7/365.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  Copper Bowl Cafe is home to the Anaconda, Montana working man, as shown by the pickup trucks parked in front of this fine restaurant.  On this early Wednesday morning, August 23, 2017, Copper Bowl was one of the few restaurants open in town for breakfast.  Unfortunately for the local Anaconda economy, the copper mine, which was once the town's principal employer, has been shut down for many years, and now the town doesn't seem to have a whole lot going for it.

Photo:  As you walk in the door to the restaurant, the decor strikes you as pure "Americana," complete with dated wall paneling and torn vinyl on the stools at the counter.  This is the kind of restaurant I love!

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll pass by a break in the counter, where the serving staff uses, and the window to the kitchen, where you can catch a glimpse of the chef at work.  Note the order wheel, which is still used for the orders, as everything in this fine diner is "old school."

Photo:  The breakfast menu carries all the basics, and breakfast is served every day, 24 hours a day.  When I visit a restaurant for the first time, I like to order the "signature" dish on the menu, so today, I ordered the "Copper Bowl Special."  Why didn't I read the menu a little closer and order a side of gravy?

Photo:  The main dining room is very comfortable, "homey" and definitely caters to the Anaconda working man.  I was seated at the counter, at the stool that doesn't match.  The gentlemen sitting next to me were truck drivers, who were discussing plans for today, and winning the lottery.  All customers were locals, as there weren't any tourists except me, and I "blended in," as I dressed like the locals.

The restaurant also includes a casino - there seems to be a casino on every block in the State of Montana - and a bowling alley that appeared to be in disuse.  I drove through downtown Anaconda and noted many closed business, but the town seems to be in good shape.

Photo:  My server, Mike, delivers my breakfast to my place at the counter.  He provided good service, but seemed a bit awkward with my photos, and my many questions.  I can imagine that Anaconda probably doesn't see many photographers who show up for breakfast with their camera, and a boat load of questions.

Photo:  I grip the ketchup bottle, as Mike snaps my photo.  Thanks, Mike, for snapping my photo.

Photo:  I ordered the "Copper Bowl Special" breakfast, which includes your choice of meat, hash brown potatoes, eggs cooked your way, along with toast.  For meat, I chose Polish sausage, which is always a great choice for me, and my de facto standard if it's on the menu.  I ordered my eggs cooked over easy, and was disappointed that one of them was more "medium" and the other one was "hard."  The toast covers the sausage, and despite the eggs being cooked not to my request, the breakfast was good, but not great.

The previous night I'd been camping at East Fork Campground, in the mountains east of town, near East Fork Reservoir, so a decent breakfast was definitely appreciated!

Copper City Bowl and Café is definitely a favorite of the Anaconda locals, who love this fine restaurant, for it's friendly atmosphere, retro decor, and most of all, great food any time of the day or night.  When you're in Anaconda, and you're hungry at 3 o'clock in the morning, you now know where to go to enjoy a great breakfast!
