Most beer trucks want to be seen, as how are you going to dispense beer, and make a tidy profit from the back of a truck if it blends into the scenery?  Have you ever seen a Budweiser beer truck painted Desert Storm camoflauge, much have you ever enjoyed a cold one from a truck painted like that?  Me neither... No, I hadn't ever seen, nor had I ever imagined a cammo beer truck, that there's a first for everything, and this new event happened in my life at the Nugget Rib Cook-off on Monday, September 6, 2010.

Photo:  Check it out... you can hardly see it, as it blends in well with the urban landscape on Victorian Avenue at the Nugget Rib Cook-off.  Yes, that's a genuine Desert Storm camoflauge Budweiser beer truck!

The camoflauge paint wasn't doing it's job, as the cammo beer truck didn't seem to blend into the landscape of rib restaurants, beer stands, hotels, shops and the other buildings that line Victorian Avenue in Sparks, Nevada, along Victorian Square.  For me, the cammo had just the opposite effect, as when I spotted the truck, I just had to purchase a beer, despite the rather steep price of $5.00 for a 16-oz Budweiser beer in a plastic glass.  Yet some experiences are priceless, and this moment was to be just that... priceless.

Photo:  April grabs the tap and pours my icy-cold beer from the back of the camo beer truck.  The camoflauge painted back of the truck is easy to spot in this photo, but don't distance yourself from the truck, or you'll miss it. It took two days before I noticed the truck, no kidding!

The beer truck in question is a 1970's vintage Ford C-Series truck, painted in Desert Storm camoflauge, with the word Budweiser painted in brown, on the side of it.  The bar is located at the rear of the truck, complete with beer taps attached to the rear of the truck, and the bar and catchier's station are protected from the elements by a canvas canopy.  It's located on the north side of Victorian Ave., but since the cammo paint lends an outdoor flair, I whipped out my GPS and noted it was parked at N39.32.097 W119.45.533.  Now that's cammo!

Photo:  The gentleman in black looks sort of melancholy as he's about ready to hand over his $5.00 bill, so the other gentleman can enjoy the expensive beer that he's holding.

Photo:  The bartender suggested to me that I should ask April, standing next to the bar in this photo, to take off her top, but like the gentleman I am, I didn't pose the question to her, but she got a laugh out of it anyway.

I bellied up to the bar, handed over my hard-earned $5.00 to the friendly cashier, April, and marveled as the bartender poured my beer from the tap, attached to the back of the truck.  As he poured my beer, the cashier joked that I should ask April to take off her top, but I replied that I was masquerading as a gentleman, and that I'd prefer to ask her to take my photo, with my beer in hand, which she gladly did.  I told the dude that I'd never had the pleasure of drinking a beer, dispensed from a camo truck before, and both he and April broke out into laughter.

Photo:  I did get April to snap my photo, as I toast to the camoflauge beer truck, April the rib cook-off, and to this beautiful holiday in Sparks, Nevada.

Oh yes, the beer was icy-cold and your typical smooth, delicious Budweiser, which hails itself as the "King of Beers."  I can't say that Budweiser is my favorite brand of beer, but like women, all beer is good, the only difference is that some beers are better than other's but in the end, like women, they're all good.

Well kids, there's a first time for everything, and today was the first day that I'd ever enjoyed a beer, dispensed from a camoflauge beer truck.
