Hot dog vendors are a common sight on the streets of downtown Tijuana, but if you're an early riser, you're out of luck, as you won't be able to find a hot dog cart until early evening. But during the evening hours, you can find a hot dog vendor on nearly every corner, selling the classic, Tijuana, bacon-wrapped hot dog!
Photo: This hot dog cart is located at the base of the Tijuana arch, at the corner of Articulo 1-2-3, a.k.a., Calle Premira... First Street, and the famous Av. Revolución. Like most hot dog guys, look for him in the late afternoon or early evening.
Photo: Sunday afternoon, about 1700, March 18, 2012, and I order a bacon wrapped hot dog from this hot dog guy, with all of the trimmings. At MEX $15.00, the hot dog is a great deal, as it's about U.S. $1.20, give or take a penny or two...
Photo: Hot Dog Guy applies the finishing touches to my Tijuana style, bacon wrapped hot dog. He wasn't overly friendly, and I didn't get his name, but the dog was good. Photos were taken with my iPhone, as the rain had spotted the lens on my "real" camera, and the photos I took with it were unusable. Glad I took iPhone photos...
Photo: My typical Tijuana-style hot dog... For starters, it's bacon wrapped, and grilled... Yeah! Condiments include diced tomatoes and white onions, mustard, catsup and mayonnaise. Tijuana-style hot dogs rule the world... the only better dog that I've enjoyed have been the dogs that I've eaten in the Mexican state of Sonora, which is just east of Baja California. But that's another story... Like most hot dog vendors, this "restaurant" didn't have a name, excpet for "Hot Dogs." I asked Sam what the name of his "restaurant" was, and he simply replied, "hot dogs." Oh well, it works for me... Hot
