If you're a lover of churros, then you won't want to pass by this little churro cart located at the south end of Av. Arguello, where it runs into busy Av. Constitución, in Tijuana's Zona Centro.  It's staffed by two women who not only dispense some of the best churros in town, but also are prone to giving a friendly smile, as they hand you a bag of freshly-cooked churros.  For the small price of MEX $10.00 for a bag of delicious deep fried churros, how can you pass this cart by?  I must confess, I did for years, but in March, 2009, that changed...

Photo:  Even churro gals are allowed to read the latest news between customers!  These gals take a break at Se Vende Churros, located along busy Av. Constitución, in downtown Tijuana.

I've noticed this churro cart during my last several visits to Tijuana, and on Saturday, March 14, 2009, I finally took the plunge and purchased a bag of churros from these ladies.  What took me so long to finally patronize these gals?  It was mostly a matter of timing, as by the time I got to their area, I'd already had my fill of something else, but during this visit, the timing was right, as I was on my way to Av. Arguello to enjoy a beer, but first I needed something to cater to my sweet side - what else could be better than a bag of churros?

Photo:  The gal to the right is scooping freshly deep fried churros from the large pot of hot oil, as her helper looks on.

The gals operate in tandem, as one turns the "steering wheel" which molds the dough to the proper shape, and dispenses it into a pan of hot oil, and the other gal scoops the cooked churros from the pan, places them into a bowl to cool, and then bags them, and sets the bags on a rack.  It's a constant evolution, and the freshly cooked bags of churros seem to have about a two-minute turnaround before they're sold, so the customer always gets a freshly cooked bag of churros.  You won't find a finer snack to enjoy on the streets of Tijuana than a bag of freshly cooked churros!

Photo:  The churros are then placed in a bowl where they're allowed to cool slightly, before being placed in a bag, for sale to pedestrians, for less than a dollar a bag.

Photo:  My bag of delicious churros... it took a lot of willpower on my part to find a suitable place to place the bag, and snap the photo, before digging in and enjoying my churros.

No name, identification, or markings of any kind are painted on the cart, so I asked one of the gals what the name of their business was, and she simply replied "Se vende churros," which translates to churros for sale.  So that's the name of the restaurant, Se Vende Churros... which works for me!
