Mariscos El Pulinganos is one of the friendliest restaurants that I've had the pleasure of visiting during my travels to the enchanting city of Ensenada, Baja California.  El Pulinganos is located on the west side of Blvd. Lazano Cardenas, about a block north of the Fish Market.  Not only is the staff very friendly, and they make you feel at home, but they serve delicious fish tacos, and more!

Photo:  Like most small restaurants in Ensenada, and other Mexican towns, Mariscos El Pulinganos is open to the street, and features plenty of outdoor seating.  The restaurant is located on Blvd. Cardenas, a couple of blocks south of where Highway 1 splits.  In her spare time, my server, Delanda, hangs out on the sidewalk, menu in hand, and invites passing motorists or pedestrians into the restaurant.

Photo:  The menu features an excellent of seafood favorites, and it is printed in English and Spanish.  Since the restaurant is located near the Fish Market, and the tourist area, the prices are a bit on the high side, compared to many of the small taco stands that are located downtown.

Photo:  The kitchen is open to the dining room, and easily photographed, but the gentleman seems a bit surprised that I'm taking a photo.  The staff at Mariscos El Pulinganos were very friendly, and were curious as to why I was taking photos.  Naturally, I had to give them the run-down of my mission:  Eat, drink, take photos, and publish on my web site!

Photo:  I'm holding my two fish tacos, in the manner that they arrived from the kitchen.  The black pouch on my belt contains a GPS unit, as Ensenada can be very confusing.  My motel was located near the Flag Plaza, but if you loose sight of the flag, due to fog or darkness, the streets of Ensenada can be quite confusing, as my legs take me quite a ways from my motel room.

Photo:  Each taco contained two corn tortillas, and two pieces of lightly battered fish, deep fried to a golden brown.

Photo:  I dressed my tacos with shredded cabbage, pico de gallo, pico de gallo, and a touch of crema.  Delanda told me that all ingredients are made in-house, and I believe her, as the garnishes were fresh, flavorful and very tasty.

Photo:  My delicious meal of two fish tacos, condiments, and two Dos Equis beer.  The fish tacos were delicious and the condiment were fresh, and didn't mask the wonderful taste of the fish.  Oddly, Mariscos El Pulinganos doesn't supply chips like most restaurants.  I asked Delanda for a bowl of chips, and she gave me blank look and said that they don't have any!  Odd... The price of the fish tacos and two beers came to around MEX $80.00, which is definitely on the steep side, but the tacos were good, and the beer was cold, and I was on vacation.  So I left her a MEX $100.00 and told her to keep the change.

Mariscos El Pulinganos serves delicious Ensenada style fish tacos, along with just about every variety of seafood to be found in Ensenada, at a great price.  The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious, and it's a fun place to relax at.  The only negative thing that I could find is that the restaurant doesn't bring a bowl of tortilla chips to the table, as is the custom in most Mexican restaurants.  If you can live without chips, Mariscos El Pulinganos is worthy of your dining consideration.
