Tacos El Chente is unique among Ensenada taquerias, as they're open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so no matter when you're in the mood for a taco, Tacos El Chente is there to satisfy your taco craving.

As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's almost midnight on Monday, September 10, 2012, and Tacos El Chente is staffed by two friendly guys, and is in business, this time of the evening!  How many restaurants do you find open in Ensenada this time of the night?

Like most small restaurants in Mexico, there is no posted menu, so you just ask the friendly staff what they have on hand, and they'll prepare your order for you.  It's also a good idea to agree on the price when you place your order... remember... you're in Mexico.

If you venture out of the "tourist areas" in Ensenada or any other Mexican city, I recommend a basic knowledge of Spanish, as at Tacos El Chente, English isn't spoken.

Photo:  Unfortunately, due to the lateness of the hour, they were out of fish, camarones and carne asada, so I had to settle for a couple of tacos de chorizo, which makes a pretty good late night snack.  Jim, who is very friendly, is cooking my tacos in the open kitchen.  Like most all small restaurants in Ensenada, and in western Mexico, Tacos El Chente is open to the street, and features an open kitchen.

Photo:  Jim heated my corn tortillas on the griddle, as the chorizo is cooking next to the tortillas.  He's scooping chorizo from the griddle onto the tortillas, which will make for great tacos!  Each taco uses two corn tortillas.  When it comes to making tacos, Jim displays talent!

Photo:  The other gentleman - I didn't get his name - is making tacos for another customer.  It's almost midnight, and Tacos El Chente is busy... Ensenada night life at it's best!

Note the kitchen is very rustic and quite "basic," but that makes their delicious fare taste even better.

Photo:  I pose with my delicious late-night snack, as friendly Jim snaps my photo.  Thanks, Chef Jim for snapping my photo.

Photo:  I ordered my tacos with everything, which is the way I like them.  Each taco had a large helping of chorizo, diced onion, pepper, cilantro, and a large scooping of guacamole.

Each taco began with two toasted corn tortillas, which is the "norm" in Mexico.  I really wanted seafood, but at midnight, you get what you can get, so I settled for choirzo, as that's ll the restaurant had to offer.  No worries, as the chorizo was fresh, and delicious.  Chef Jim told me that the chorizo was made locally, by his grandparents, and I don't doubt what he said, as the chorizo was delicious!

Of course a taco wouldn't work without diced onion, pepper, cilantro, and in the case of Tacos El Chente, a large helping of amazing guacamole graces each taco!  These tacos are absolutely amazing, and are as good as tacos get... anywhere at any price.  As if to heap on the praise... these delicious tacos came to MEX $20.00...

I was a bit disappointed that they were out of fish and camarrones, but since it was nearly midnight, a couple of tacos de chorizo seemed to hit the spot, as that's a very popular breakfast selection in Mexico.  Tacos El Chente makes delicious tacos!
