Thursday evening, September 13, 2012 found me strolling along San Felipe's malecón, admiring the gorgeous scenery, but natural and cultural, and looking for a place to enjoy a fish taco or two. In San Felipe, finding a restaurant that serves seafood tacos is an easy thing to do, as there's a three block stretch of Av. Malecón that is lined wall-to-wall with small restaurants that serve mariscos, seafood dishes, and fish tacos. Yet, which place to choose? How about Taqueria Adriana?
Photo: It's almost 8 o'clock on the evening of September 13, 2012, and it's almost twilight time, as I decide to enjoy a couple of fish tacos at Taqueria Adriana. Tacos and mariscos... how can that be beat? This restaurant does not have a dining room, and during the time of my visit, the only seating was the picnic table, to the left of the photo. The open kitchen is pictured behind the picnic table.
Photo: I ordered two fish tacos, so before she started cooking the fish, the only gal working the restaurant, Maria, grabbed a couple of corn tortillas and put them on the griddle to toast. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, which makes photo taking an easy task.
Photo: Maria grabbed two pieces of fish from a refrigerator, rolled them in batter, and then placed them in the deep frier. She uses tongs to stir them in the large, propane-fired wok-like pan. Note the decour and the arrangement of the kitchen, which I doubt would pass muster north of the border. Personally, I could care less about the arrangement of the kitchen, as long as the fish tacos are good!
Photo: As I waited for my order to arrive, Maria's granson approached me several times, and was very interested in observing me, but was very coy and shy, as I attempted to make light conversation. For several minutes, it was almost like a game of "peek-a-boo," until Maria brought him a plate of quesadilla wedges that she made for him. I invited him to sit at the table with me - the only table at the restaurant - and without saying a word, he sat at the end of the table and enjoyed his plate of quesadillas. I actually got him to pose for me!

Taqueria Adriana is an oddity, as the restaurant doesn't provide a bowl of chips, or unlimited chips, as most restaurants in San Felipe do. The table indeed looks bare without a bowl of chips. Other than the lack of chips, I was extremely satisfied with the food, the price, and the service at Taqueria Adriana.
Photo: My order of two fish tacos and two Tecate beers. The price for the entire meal was MEX $80.00, which was on the pricey side of reasonable. Garnishes were shredded cabbage, diced tomato and onions, a squeeze bottle of crema, and delicious, in-house-made salsa verde. Tacos arrive from the kitchen quite bare, as the tacos are basically two pieces of battered, fried fish, on a couple of toasted tortillas. Bare or otherwise, these fish tacos were delicious...
Photo: I dressed out my two fish tacos with shredded cabbage, diced onion, tomatoes, along with Taqueria Adriana's delicious salsa verde. The tacos arrive as just cooked fish on corn tortillas, and you dress your tacos "your way" from the condiments provided. As you would expect, the fried fish was delicious, as it was cooked in the large wok-like bowl to a golden brown on the outside, and white, juicy-tender inside. The fish was placed on perfectly toasted medium size corn tortillas - not "street taco" size tortillas - and when the fresh condiments were added... I enjoyed two amazing fish tacos! I really enjoyed dinner at Taqueria Adriana, as the tacos were delicious, the people were entertaining, and it was such a pleasure to relax on a balmy evening in mid September, and gaze at the beautiful Sea of Cortez, and watch the beautiful San Felipe women. Outside of the lack of all-you-can-eat tortilla chips, Taqueria Adriana is a great restaurant! Taqueria
