Today, Thursday, June 16, 2022, Raley's Companies opened a new store in Roseville, CA Raley's O-N-E Market, and there's nothing else like it in Roseville! This modern and beautiful store in very innovative, as it offers a GIANT bakery of fresh, in-house baked goods, an interactive soup, salad and Asian food bar, a 10-yard long deli counter, a fresh meat and seafood counter, which even has a section of dry, aged beef! Naturally, the store features all of the things you've come to expect in an upscale, 2022-vintage supermarket, including an cafe area, where shoppers can relax and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. You can even enjoy a craft beer from the tap at "TAPS" bar! As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's 10 minutes before the 09:30 grand opening of Raley's O-N-E Market, on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Raley's O-N-E Market is a new and innovative supermarket concept to Roseville, and Placer County, as it differs significantly from other Raley's supermarkets. There is no other supermaket like this in the area! It's located in the brand new shopping center, "The Plaza at Blue Oaks" in west Roseville. The store will be open from 06:00 in the morning until 11:00 at night, every day of the week. According to my research, Raley's customers have become increasingly interested in the "concept" of "where does my food come from?" and are moving over the "green side" and the "farm to fork" concept, which has gained traction the last few years in the greater Sacramento area. This new store offers innovations such as renewable, environment-friendly infrastructure, increased emphasis on organic, locally-sourced products and lots of healthy choices. Tobacco products are not sold at this store! Other innovations include a large server-yourself salad and soup bar, along with lots of Asian cuisine choices, and a lounge, complete with a few craft beers on tap. This is exactly what west Roseville needed! Photo: Roseville High School "Tiger Band" was in front of the store, playing pop standards and contemporary music. Photo: I entered the store just past today's 09:30 morning grand opening time to a very busy store, filled with curious onlookers, shoppers, and any Rosevillian who enjoys a new concept in supermarket shopping. Several Raley's company executives were at the door, greeting customers. Like many others, I bid them a cheery "Welcome to our neighborhood." Photo: The entry lobby area of the store was a very busy place on this grand opening morning. Photo: As you enter the store, the first thing you'll notice is the large produce section, with emphasis on fresh, locally-grown produce. Roseville is located in Placer County, on the extreme east side of the Sacramento Valley, next to the Sierra Nevada foothills, and the county is noted for mandarin oranges, apples and wine grapes. The Sacramento Valley, along with the San Joaquin Valley is the south, make up California's Central Valley, which is one of the most bountiful agricultural environments on earth. The produce section at Raley's O-N-E Market is truly remarkable! Photo: Produce is displayed in bins in the middle of the aisle, on shelves, and pre-packaged, in a cooler. There is a large video monitor that displays hacks and hints about produce, along with advertising many of the products found in the supermarket. Photo: After the doors were open for the grand opening, the "Tiger Band" relocated inside, near the health and beauty displays, and began to play. I notice their motto is "Spiritus Ipsum," which I recall, going back to my high school Latin, means "Begin Again." Photo: Cheerleaders were cheering, which added to the festive atmosphere of the grand opening. Photo: The Health and Beauty section of the store was a busy place, as the band played on... and the atmosphere was fun and festive! Note the rack of bananas, as there is produce scattered all over the store. Dishes, coffee cups, and locally made crafts are also displayed in this section of the store. Photo: Raley's Supermarkets is headquarted in West Sacramento, across the Sacramento River from the state capitol, and has had a footprint in Roseville since 1935. Don't ask me, as that was almost 20 years before I was born, but Raley's is certainly proud to be a long-time member of the Roseville community. Photo: The store has a full-service meat counter, with custom-cuts of meat, along with an amazing selection of fresh seafood. There is a display of "Dry Aged Beef," which is something that I've never seen before in a supermarket. Note the lady taking photos of the beef, with her smartphone. I wasn't alone in taking photos, as it seems that every other person was snapping photos, so I let my "photo imagination" run wild, without any shackles, as this was a prime environment for "street photography." I noted a photographer with professional equipment, who seemed to have access behind the counters, as he must be a corporate photographer. Photo: The store offers a full meat department, with butchers who lovingly keep the meat stocked. Raley's corporation prides themselves on their fresh, locally-procured - when at all possible - meat. Their meat is some of the best in town! Photo: Customers at the fish counter seemed to be asking more questions, and simply admiring the amazing fare, rather than purchasing. The gentleman in the blue shirt was very vocal and gracious with his happy compliments. Photo: Just a small sample of the amazing fresh seafood you can purchase at this fine, environmentally-friendly supermarket. Photo: Just past the meat/seafood counter, there are racks of packaged meat, just like you'd find in any other supermarket. Note the corn and asparagus, as displays of produce are scattered all over the store. Photo: Here comes the marching "Tiger Band" as they play an up-tempo tune as they march over to the bakery/deli section of the store. How many times are you treated to a live band while grocery shopping? Ah... the perks of attending a grand opening! Photo: Just around the corner from the meat department, there is a long salad, soup and Asian cuisine bar, where you serve yourself and pay by the pound. Photo: Here's a small sample of some of the goodies you can add to your salad. Like everything at all Raley's corporate stores, all ingredients are fresh and delicious. Photo: On the other side of the salad bar, there are heated trays of practically every variety of Asian cuisine that you can imaging, with heavy emphasis on the cuisine of China and the Philippines. I love it! Photo: I'm a happy guy as I checked out the liquor department to find all of the treasures I desire, which makes my life even better. Photo: Next to the bakery there is a lounge area, where staff and customers can relax, and enjoy coffee, pastries or other goodies from the bakery. Yes, the sign reads "Taps" as there is a small beer bar, with a few craft and IPA beers on tap, which, in my book, is a significant innovation. Photo: These gentlemen are enjoying the ambiance of Raley's O-N-E Market over doughnuts at a raised table in the lounge area. There is no doubt that you're in west Roseville! Photo: These ladies are sharing a laugh over coffee and doughnuts as they relax at the "TAPS" bar. Note the beer taps, which serve a couple IPAs and a few craft beers. Photo: The bakery and deli is a busy place on this mid Thursday morning in June, 2022. Note the motto that reads, "REAL FOOD Thoughtfully Crafted." Photo: Deli staff is ready to prepare practically any type of sandwich, including "Specialty Sandwiches" that you can imagine. There are countless options available to enjoy for your dining pleasure. Photo: This gentleman is helping himself to a dozen doughnuts from the "serve yourself" doughnut case. All doughnuts in the bakery, along with bread, cakes, cookies and other baked goods are baked fresh in the store's bakery. Photo: The "Tiger Band" made their way over the deli/bakery, and added to the festivity by performing a number of up-tempo numbers, including cheerleading to go along with it. Photo: Raley's "Cafe" offers slices of cake, pie, brownies and other baked delights from 06:00 in the morning until 06:00 in the evening. Photo: The gentleman at the cash register seems to be a little surprised, as he assists a friendly customers. I've been shopping at various Raley's stores for over 40 years, and all staff have always been friendly and helpful. Photo: What would a grand opening be without trays of delicious, free samples? Kathy, with Columbus Craft Meats, of San Francisco, was handing out free samples of their delicious product. Photo: Samples of salami, pepperoni and Italian cheese were delicious! The samples were free, and very generous, as only a couple of them made for a great mid-morning snack. Photo: Meet Kathy, the Columbus representative, along with a friendly co-worker, who presented me with a sample of her delicious product. Photo: I'm a happy guy as I hold samples of salami and other fine Italian craft meat, thanks to friendly Kathy and Columbus Craft Meats. Photo: Felino salami, dry coppa, cheese and a green olive make for a delightful snack, which made for an unexpected treat. Photo: Last stop is the checkout line, which, during the time of my visit, had four cash registers in operation. Despite the fact that Raley's O-N-E Market resides considerably higher up the "scale" than the "regular" Raley's supermarkets, the prices are identical. Photo: If you're so inclined, the store offers a battery of self-serve checkout registers. I'm told their more innovative and high-tech than the registers at older stores, but during my visit today, I didn't get a chance to use them, as I was too busy taking photos. This brand-new Raley's O-N-E Market is a welcome addition to west Roseville, and judging from the crowd at this crowd of happy shoppers attending today's grand opening celebration, this new concept is sure to be a hit with all Rosevillians who appreciate a quality and innovative shopping experience.
