Here's a great way to get your weekend off to a delicious start: Enjoy brunch at Land Ocean Restaurant, located inside the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, in Rosevlle, CA. You'll enjoy delicious cuisine from their "New American Grill," and when you order brunch, you'll have to option to enjoy bottomless mimosas! As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: Land Ocean Restaurant is located on the top level of Westfield Galleria of Roseville, an large, upscale indoor shopping mall, located in Roseville, CA. The mall is one of the largest malls in the greater Sacramento area. It's just before 10:00 in the morning, Saturday, July 30, 2022, and I've arrived to enjoy "Weekend Brunch," featured every Saturday and Sunday at Land Ocean. Since the temperature was in the upper 70-degree range, I chose to enjoy brunch on the patio, at the front of the restaurant, which can be seen in the photo by the red umbrellas. Photo: The restaurant opens to the inside of the mall, which is very convenient. You'll be greeted by a friendly staff member who will check for reservations - which are highly recommended for later-in-the-day dining, especially on weekends and holidays - who will seat you and provide you with a menu. Since I was planning to dine on the patio, she simply showed me to the patio and had me sit at the table of my choosing. Reservations aren't at all necessary when "opening" up the restaurant on weekends, but I did notice by the time I left, both the dining rooms and the patio were filling up quickly. Photo: The restaurant actually has two dining rooms, which are separated by the "meet/greet" station at the front door, and by the large kitchen. The largest dining room is long and relatively narrow and leads out to the patio. Furniture is mostly booths with several booths large enough to allow seating for groups and large families. Of the two dining rooms, this one seems to be quieter and more formal. Photo: The second dining features a full-service bar, with friendly staff who will be glad to mix up the drink of your choosing. Photo: The second dining room is dominated by the large bar, and is much louder, brighter and on the casual side, yet with the charm and elegance the restaurant offers. The windows in both dining rooms look out into the interior of the mall. Photo: Today was Saturday, and on weekends, "bottomless" mimosas are on the menu, and at the rear of the dining room, near the entrance to the patio, the staff had set up a mimosa station, with plenty of juice and bottled champagne. From the looks of things, many who choose to enjoy a "bottomless" mimosa with their breakfast seem to prefer to dine on the patio. On this beautiful Saturday morning in late July, the weather was perfect to enjoy my meal on the comfortable patio. Photo: The patio is located in the front of the restaurant, and is reached from the second dining room. The large windows provide natural lighting which makes the end of the dining room somewhat brighter than the rest of it. Photo: The patio is located in front of the restaurant and is mostly covered, except for a few of the tables near the edge, which are shaded by umbrellas. The patio is used all year and there are electric heaters to take away the chill on winter evenings. During the winter, Roseville gets many cold, foggy days, and without the heaters, the patio wouldn't be a good place to dine! The patio is surrounded by a fence, so alcohol can be enjoyed, and comply with state law. Photo: The "Weekend Brunch" menu offers many choices for a delicious and upscale breakfast, including "Bottomless Mimosas" which are available to enjoy during your meal. You can also order from the full "Lunch Menu" if brunch isn't your interest. Photo: Since I wasn't driving, I chose to order a "Bottomless Mimosa" with my brunch order. My charming hostess, Zoie, custom mixed each mimosa for me, with a friendly smile. When you order "Bottomless Mimosas," the staff will bring champagne and either cranberry or orange juice and mix the mimosa, right at your table, just the way you want it. All you have to do is to tell them how much champagne you want in your glass, and they will custom mix each mimosa for you. Since I wasn't driving, I went with about 90% champagne for each of my mimosas, and after about the second glass, I wasn't feeling any pain. The staff makes a "mimosa run" about every ten minutes or so, which means your glass seldom gets empty. Photo: This male Brewer's Blackbird kept busy around the patio, searching for crumbs, and he didn't seem overly-concerned about human company. He flew away when Zoie was making a mimosa run, and never came back. Photo: Zoie pours a "Bottomless Mimosa" for a couple of diners, on the other side of the patio. The patio offers a great view to the entrance to the mall, so if "people watching" is your sport, you've come to the right place. Photo: I wasn't the only person enjoying the beautiful summer morning on the patio, as this waiter brings a couple their order. The patio looks out to the parking lot which isn't overly exciting or beautiful. Photo: Meet my charming and friendly hostess Zoie, who brought my breakfast to me with a smile. Zoie treated me like royalty, and kept my mimosa glass full. Photo: I'm all smiles as I prepare to enjoy my amazing brunch of "Country Fried Steak and Eggs" outside on the patio. The patio is very clean and comfortable, and furnished nicely with very solid furniture. Photo: From the "Weekend Brunch" section of the menu, I went with "Country Fried Steak and Eggs," which is one of my favorites. I was pleasantly surprised when Zoie placed a basket of freshly-baked sweet muffins on my table, as they weren't listed on the menu with the entree. The menu also states the eggs are "scrambled," but when Zoie asked my how I wanted my eggs, I replied "Sunnyside up." My delicious breakfast began with a good-size piece of beef, flattened and very tendertized. The piece of beef was coated in batter, and deep fried to a perfect golden brown, with a light crisp. The deep fried batter on this steak had a fine texture, which is a very different than what you're served at a typical diner. The batter-to-meat ratio was perfect, and the delicious batter enhanced the taste of the tender beer, rather than overpowered it. Land Ocean Restaurant is an upscale restaurant, and their "Weekend Brunch" reflects that distinction. At first glance, I wondered, "where are the potatoes?" but upon insepction, it was east to see the meat was resting on top a bed of fried potatoes. The potatoes were cut into small squares, and deep fried to a perfect, golden brown, with just a little "crisp," on the outside, while soft and tender on the inside. After sampling a couple of the potatoes, I became a true believer in the goodness of these potatoes! About half of the meat and potatoes were covered with thick, rich, in-house-made country gravy that was some of the best country gravy that I've had the pleasure to enjoy in Roseville. It was rich, tasty and loaded with chunks of sausage. My two eggs, fried "Sunnyside up," were placed on top of the meat, potatoes and gravy, and sprinkled with a little diced cilantro, for taste enhancement and presentation. The breakfast came with a steak knife which was mostly "decoration," as the meat was fork-tender and a knife wasn't needed to cut it into bite-size pieces. The menu didn't mention anything about muffins, and I was pleasantly surprised when Zoie brought a basket of six, small muffins. The basket contained three chocolate muffins, and three vanila, with small bits of cranberry. I'm more of a "toast" kind of breakfast guy, but I broke out of my mould and simply devoured these muffins, as they were amazingly delicious! During a mimosa visit, I mentioned to Zoie who delicious the muffins were, and she told me they're baked in-house, just before the restaurant opens on weekends. One bite into this amazing breakfast made a true believer out of me, as it was simply delicious! The combination of breaded meat, crispy potatoes, country gravy and egg was simply out-of-this-world delicious! This was truly a delicious "Country Fried Steak," and the chef who created this amazing entree has talent! I requested to Zoie for her to pass my compliments to the talented kitchen staff, for a job well done. Photo: The "Country Fried Steak and Eggs" served on weekends at Land Ocean Restaurant is simply delicious, and it will set your weekend started the right way. At first glance, you may wonder, "Where are the potatoes?" but you'll find them nestled under the meat and eggs. This was truly an amazing breakfast creation! Photo: Hot sauce, in the form of Tabasco or Cholula is provided upon request, so I went with Cholula, as it made for wonderful dipping of small pieces of the meat. The whipped butter added another layer of delicious flavor for the muffins. The restaurant opens for brunch at 10:00 am and runs until three in the afternoon, both Saturday and Sunday, so you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to enjoy an amazing brunch! The food is delicious, the staff is courteous and friendly, and you simply can't beat the relaxed atmosphere on the lovely patio as you enjoy fine dining, and a bottomless mimosa.
