There is nothing like a delicious Mexican breakfast or lunch to warm up your stomach, and your soul, on a rainy, late Friday morning in February.  Los Gallos Taqueria, located in downtown Lincoln, is just such a restaurant, as the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly.

As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's late Friday morning, February 17, 2017, at we're ready to enjoy brunch at Los Gallos Taqueria in downtown Lincoln.  It's brunch because Sharlene ordered lunch, and I ordered breakfast.  Originally, we'd planned on eating at a couple diners in Roseville, but each one was packed, so we headed over to Los Gallos, which has been on my "bucket list" for quite some time.

Photo:  Los Gallos Taqueria is a small, "mom and pop" Mexican restaurant in downtown Lincoln.  The dining room is quite, shall we say, compact, as nearly all of it viable in the photo.  Unlike many taquerias, it's a full-service restaurant, as you sit down at a table, and your server brings you a menu.  If you're dining-in, you get a complimentary basket of chips, and a bowl of delicious in-house-made salsa.

Photo:  The breakfast and lunch menu, along with the selection of appetizers.  The restaurant's menu includes all of your Mexican favorites, and offers menudo on weekends.  Talk about Mexican "comfort food!"

Photo:  As soon as we were seated, our hostess brought menus, along with a bowl of salsa, and a basket of chips. If you're dining "in," chips and salsa are complementary.  This is a "sit-down" taqueria, as you don't order from the counter.

Photo:  As you stand at the counter, you can see the cooler where beer and Mexican soft drinks live.  A couple of stand-outs include real Mexican Coca Cola, along with every variety of Jarritos.  You can see inside the kitchen in the center of the photo.

Photo:  Our hostess moved so fast that the only photo I was able to take of her was from the back, as she places my breakfast on the table.  I got the impression that she didn't particularly want her photo taken, so I didn't press the point.  Other than that, she was friendly and efficient, and very nice.  Our meals were ready in only 10 minutes or so after we ordered them.

Photo:  Thanks to our friendly hostess - I didn't catch her name - for taking our photo, as we're ready to enjoy brunch.  It's 11 in the morning, and Sharlene ordered from the lunch menu, and I ordered from the breakfast menu, as the only breakfast I'd eaten on this Friday morning was a couple of oranges, three hours prior, and I was hungry.

Photo:  Sharlene ordered flautas from the "Lunch Special" menu.  She got two flautas, salad, rice and beans for only $5.50!  You couldn't even touch a meal this good at a fast food restaurant for this price.

Photo:  I agonized between the breakfast and lunch menu, but breakfast won out, as chorizo and eggs is one of my favorites.  Delicious chorizo and eggs, along with four corn tortillas, for only $6.25, which is three dollars less expensive than most other restaurants serving the same fare.  The breakfast was delicious, and filling, and a bargain any way you look at it.

We enjoyed our brunch, it would be, it was 11 in the morning, and I enjoyed breakfast, and Sharlene enjoyed lunch. Whatever you want to call it, the food was delicious, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was very friendly, and you can't beat the prices anywhere else in town.  When you're in downtown Lincoln, and you're in the mood for delicious Mexican food, head over to Los Gallos Taqueria.
