I have great difficulty resisting a bargain, especially when it comes to eating, so when I received "junk mail" coupons from Del Taco, advertising their specials and offering special discounts, I knew it was time to pay my local Del Taco, Store #1359 a visit, after a year-and-a-half hiatus. As with all restaurant reviews I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: Breakfast at Del Taco, located on Blue Oaks Blvd. in Roseville, CA? In the words of Del Taco's advertising... "Del Yeah!" It's just past 08:00 in the morning, Thursday, March 28, 2023, and it's time to enjoy breakfast at this fine restaurant. Note the foggy morning, which is extremely rare in Roseville during late March. Photo: I received in the mail a page of coupons from Del Taco - corporate, I assume - offering discounts on many choices on their menu. Great coincidence, as I'd been thinking about re-visiting my local Del Taco, as it had been well over a year since I'd paid a visit to this fine restaurant. With a "Buy 1 Get 1 Free," burrito, along with a "99-cent Quesadilla," I couldn't resist a visit, as how could I resist enjoying a breakfast priced at under $3.00? In Roseville, the old saying is so true: "So many restaurants, and so little time." I'm sorry to say that I'm not a great "repeat" customer, as the Placer County restaurant scene is dynamic, and I simply can't keep up with it. Photo: The menu is posted inside, and outside on the drive-through menu board. It's hard to read on this foggy morning, thanks to condensation. Photo: The dining room, as you enter the restaurant, looking toward the order counter. The dining room is clean, spacious and very comfortable, and painted in contrasting "earthy" colors. Low partitions make for "booth" seating, but make the dining room kind of "choppy" and separated. I can't say I'm a fan of the dining room layout, but it's clean, comfortable and inviting. Like most "fast food" restaurants, the Blue Oaks location of Del Taco seems to most of their business of folks using the drive-through, who do not prefer to enjoy the dining room atmosphere. I suppose I'm "old school," as when I pay for a meal, I prefer to dine "in-house." Photo: Like nearly all "fast food" restaurants, you ponder the overhead menu, make your selection and pay for it at the counter. Your reward will be a ticket with your name on it, and when your order is ready, your name will be called and you can pick it up from the counter. Unlike many other "fast food" restaurants, the Roseville location of Del Taco displays a cooler, located behind the counter, where fresh onions, tomatoes and avocados are stored, and on display. As the motto of the cooler displays, "Fresher is Better!" Photo: Del Taco features an open kitchen, where you can see the fresh ingredients and the talented kitchen staff preparing your meal. Photo: Mr. Robert was a busy guy today, as he wore several hats, including meeting and greeting the drive-thru customers - thanks to his headset - taking drive-thru orders, and performing prep and chef duties in the kitchen. This gentleman has talent in every way! Photo: After I placed my order, I took a view of the spacious and attractive dining room. Del Taco, like most "fast food" restaurants, seems to cater to the drive-thru crowd, as I had the whole dining room to myself on this early Thursday morning. Photo: Meet the talented chef of the restaurant, Robert, who grilled my order to perfection, and delivered it to me with a friendly smile. Del Taco is truly "fast food" as my order was ready for me to enjoy in less than five minutes after I'd placed my order and payed for it. My name was called and I simply picked up my order from counter, as delivered by chef Robert, who prepared my fine breakfast. Photo: I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready to enjoy breakfast at Del Taco, located on Blue Oaks Blvd. in Roseville. I hold my "Green Burrito" with pride and enthusiasm! Photo: From the "Buy 1 get 1 Free" coupon, I ordered two "Bean and Cheese Burrito" with one with green sauce and the other with red sauce. I added a "Cheddar Cheese Quesadilla," which at the regular price of $1.49 is great, but at $.99 it was a spectacular "how could you ever resist?" addition to this fine breakfast. I added several packages of complimentary "Mild" sauce from the sauce bar, located next to the soda dispenser. At way less than $3.00, this was a delicious "steal of a meal" and an amazing value for 2023! The "Sauce Bar" offers little packages of sauce - sorry, it's not salsa - in varieties ranging from mild to quite hot, along with ketchup. Napkins, drinking straws and plastic utensils are included. It's all "on the house," which adds to the great value you'll enjoy dining at Del Taco. I ordered one "Bean and Cheese Burrito" with red sauce, and the other with green sauce. Both burritos arrived rolled in a medium-large flour tortilla, stuffed with refried beans and delicious, melted Cheddar cheese. I suspect the beans and the cheese were already prepared, as is the custom with "fast food" restaurants, but it made no difference to me, as I simply loved the burritos. Honestly, I could not tell the difference between the red or green sauce, by either looking at, or tasting the burrito. I was simply AMAZED at the "Cheddar Cheese Quesadilla" as it was simply HUGE! It was a large flour tortilla, perfectly fried on the griddle - complete with grill marks - stuffed with perfectly melted Cheddar cheese, and grilled to perfection. It arrived cut into perfect bite-size pieces and it made for a delicious and filling side for my burritos. The regular price of the quesadilla is $1.49, but the coupon gave it to me for $.99, which was an absolute rock-bottom great "bang for the buck." Del Taco is a "fast food" restaurant, but that doesn't mean it isn't "good food." My bean burritos, although very basic were simply delicious, and the melted cheese quesadilla, on the perfectly grilled flour tortillas was an amazing side dish. I simply LOVED my breakfast! As an aside, my simple "breakfast" kept me full until dinner, as I skipped lunch, thanks to the great food and friendly staff at Del Taco.
Photo: One bite into my "Bean and Cheese Burrito" shows all of the refried bean and melted Cheddar cheese goodness. For under $2.00, this is a great value, and when you get TWO burritos for the same, low price... it's simply amazing! The food is GOOD! Alright, it's "fast food" and it's Del Taco, but how could I have ever gone wrong with a great breakfast, that lasted me until dinner for less than $3.00? Combine the great Del Taco cuisine, the super friendly service, and the laid-back atmosphere... Del Taco, on Blue Oaks Blvd. in Roseville, CA is a "winner of a restaurant in every way. Let's go back to Monday, September 07, 2021 as I enjoyed my first visit to Del Taco... Back on Friday, July 9th of this year, Del Taco opened Store #1359, which is only a 15-minute walk from my place. Since that date, I've passed the restaurant by several times a week, and although I rarely dine at "fast food" restaurants... I just couldn't resist he allure of one of their delicious "Double Del Cheeseburgers," along with an order of their "Crinkle Cut Fries." Photo: It's a little after 10:30 on this Monday, Labor Day morning, September 07, 2021, and I've arrived at the new Del Taco #1359, located on Blue Oaks Blvd. in Roseville, CA. Although the restaurant has been open for nearly 2 months, today will be my first visit, as I'd been somehow putting it off. Photo: The drive-thru menu preview showcases "Quick Combos" along with "Stuffed Quesadilla Tacos." You don't order here, as this is simply a preview of the main menu, and a great place to start. Photo: You drive 20 feet further, and you arrive at the complete menu that lists everything the restaurant offers. You place your order from here, if you're using the drive through. No me, as I prefer to dine inside, in the dining room. Any selection listed on the menu is available any time the restaurant is open. In my case, there was nothing like a "Double Del Cheeseburger" at 10:30 on this Labor Day morning. Photo: The dining room is large, super clean, very spacious, and the furniture is your typical "fast food" booth/chairs combination. The decor is super colorful, but the colors are subdued, and make for a pleasing combination. The dining room is separated into two sections by a low partition, and the order/pickup area is separated by another partition, along with decorations that only allow the dining room to see the menu, and not the kitchen, the staff or the diners ordering/picking up their food. Like most "fast food" restaurant, the menu is placed above the order/pickup counter. As of this writing, the restaurant had been opened for less than two months, and when you entered, the entire dining room SMELLED brand new! Photo: As you wait to place your order, you can get a look into the open kitchen, and watch the friendly staff preparing your order. Photo: Del Taco works on the "fast food" order format, where you make your selection from the menu, pay for it, receive a "number" on your receipt, and when your order is ready, it's placed on counter, and your "number" is called, and you simply pick up your order and enjoy. Today, I dined in the dining room, but if your order was "to-go," it would have been placed in a bag. Since the restaurant wasn't busy on this late morning, the gal simply called out "Your Double Del and Fries are ready," and I picked up my order, seated myself, and enjoyed the great cuisine. Photo: I'm ready to enjoy my "Double Del Cheeseburger," along with a small order of "Crinkle Cut Fries." No matter what you order during your visit to Del Taco, don't pass on the fries. Photo: From the "Burgers and Fries" section of the menu, I went with a "Double Del Cheeseburger," along with a small order of "Crinkle Cut Fries." At Del Taco, this is a winning combination, and it makes for the perfect, small lunch. My lunch was ready in less than five minutes after paying for my order. In my opinion, the Del Taco restaurant chain serves one of the best cheeseburgers of any "fast food" chain, which is sort of an oddity, as the fine cuisine offered has Mexican influence, although it's totally American "comfort food." The "Double Del Cheeseburger" starts with two meat patties, grilled to a juicy medium, and I'd guess the total weight of the meat to be around a quarter of a pound, give or take a gram or two. Two perfectly melted slices of American cheese graced my burger, and you could actually taste the cheese, which added to the delicious taste of the cheeseburger. The burger was served using a small, lightly toasted bun, and the meat-to-bun ratio was "spot on." Unlike many other "fast food" burgers, the shredded lettuce was cold, along with the tomato slices, which makes for an excellent burger. No mustard or ketchup was included with the burger, as it was garnished with a "house" white sauce, that tasted like a cross between "Thousand Island" and "Ranch." I loved it! No order of ANYTHING at Del Taco is complete without an order of "Crinkle Cut Fries," which are some of the best "fast food" fries around. My fries didn't disappoint me, as like always, they were simply delicious! The "Double Del Cheeseburger," along with the "Crinkle Cut Fries" were simply delicious, just as you'd expect at a fine chain as Del Taco. The burger actually LOOKED exactly like what you see on advertisements, which certainly added to the appeal and the presentation. The menu at Del Taco only offers one burger, but it's a good choice, and the restaurant knows how to serve a delicious burger. Yes, the new Roseville outlet is a Del Taco... yes, the menu is the same at each link of the chain, and... yes, the decor and format are the same as most of the newer restaurants in the national chain. At Del Taco #1359, the food is what you'd expect - great - the price is what you expect from Del Taco - reasonable - but the service is different, as it's fast, friendly and efficient, especially when contrasted against the competition across the street. I've just found a new "fast food" outlet that I can embrace! Del Taco #1359 Copyright(c) 2023 eRench Productions. All rights reserved. We've been on the web since December 22, 2002.
