In Roseville, California, there are so many restaurant choices to choose from that it's difficult to keep up with the dining scene, even if you frequent restaurants on a weekly basis, as I do.  The Roseville restaurant scene is definitely dynamic, but today, Saturday, January 21, 2017, we decided to pay a visit to Cafe Delicias, which we haven't visited for nearly 10 years.  Click on the hyperlink to read the article I posted almost 10 years ago.  In the Roseville restaurant world, that's a long time!

As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's late Saturday morning, January 21, 2017, and it's time for us to enjoy a fine Mexican lunch at Cafe Delicias.  We wondered about the bicycle parked in the parking spot, to the right of the restaurant.  Who does it belong to... customer or employee?  As an aside, when we left the restaurant an hour later, it was still parked, in place.

Photo:  The decor is "homey," comfortable, and lens itself well to fine dining.  As you walk in, you're greeted with a "Please wait to be Seated" sign, and we were seated immediately, and given two of the printed, "old school" menus.  Cafe Delicias is a "sit-down" restaurant, not a taqueria, as you are treated to full service as soon as you enter this delightful restaurant.

Photo:  A peek at one page of the extensive menu.  Although the restaurant serves menudo, which is one of my favorite Mexican favorites to enjoy on weekends - today was Saturday - I just "had" to go with Huevos a Caballo, as I've never enjoyed this particular treat before, I hadn't eaten breakfast, and the dish sounded exotic and tasty.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you can get a peek into the kitchen and watch the two chefs at work.

Photo:  After we were seated, our server brought a basket of complimentary tortilla chips, in-house-made salsa, and a squeeze bottle of what appeared to be ketchup, along with a couple of small, empty bowls.  No ketchup in the squeeze bottle, as it was amazing-delicias red salsa, that had a little "kick," but really tasted good.  The chips were a tad on the stale side, but I had no complaints, as I just piled on both varieties of salsa for an excellent dining experience.

Photo:  Our friendly server, Maria, brings our lunch to the table.  Maria was friendly, helpful and an excellent and professional server.

Photo:  Thanks, Maria, for snapping my photo.  My wife didn't want to be included in the photo, so I edited her out of it.  Despite all of my physical flaws, I'm getting ready to enjoy a delicious lunch at Cafe Delicias.

Photo:  It's late Saturday morning, and menudo is on the weekend menu, but I agonized between menudo - one of my Mexican favorites - and Huevos a Caballo.  The egg  dish  won out, as I've never enjoyed this particular entree, and the "Walter Mitty" in me called for ADVENTURE!

Huevos a Caballo is two fried eggs, topped with rancheria sauce, placed on two cheese enchiladas.  So, I suppose you could call me "vegetarian..."  Rice, beans and three corn tortillas are included with this meal.  Is this breakfast or lunch?  I don't care, as I'm good for any dish, at any time of the day.

Oh my goodness... where do I start?  I didn't ask our server how the eggs would be fried, but they came out over easy, which is my favorite way to enjoy fried eggs.  The menu didn't say anything about rancheria sauce, so it was an exciting and pleasant surprise.  This meal was enjoyable, fantastic and perfect in every way.  The photo truly shows how "delicias" this meal really was.  If you like breakfast, lunch and Mexican food, and you can't make up your mind, this dish will work for you, as it combines the best of everything.

After a nearly 10-year lapse, nothing at Cafe Delicias has changed, as the food is, like the name implies, delicious, the staff are friendly, the portions are large, and the atmosphere is delightful.  Cafe Delicias is a solid choice for great Mexican cuisine in Roseville.
