Brookfields Restaurant is a small chain of three family owned and operated restaurants, that have been serving delicious "Americana" cuisine in the greater Sacramento area since 1981.  Over the years, they have become a favorite of local diners who enjoy fine cuisine, served by friendly staff, in a welcoming, comfortable dining room. Lucky for me, one of the three restaurants is located on Taylor Road, in Roseville, CA.

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's a little past the 07:00 morning opening time, Tuesday, February 04, 2025, and I've arrived at Brookfields Restaurant, located on Taylor Rd. in Roseville, CA, to enjoy a fine breakfast.

Brookfields has three locations in the greater Sacramento area, and has been serving delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1981.  I've lived in Roseville for 25+ years, and I must confess, today was my first visit to this fine restaurant.  What took me so long?

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, there is a welcoming counter, where you'll be greeted, and seated by a friendly staff member.  On this early Tuesday morning, the restaurant was lightly seated - to say the least - so I simply walked up to the counter and grabbed a seat.

The welcoming counter contains samples of some of the freshly baked goodies the restaurant is known for, along with a few of the many bottles of wine that are available.

Photo:  The restaurant has two dining rooms, separated by the entry way, with divides it, with makes for an interesting and unique layout.

Photo:  The second dining room is nearly identical to the first, and both are furnished with a mixture of tables and booths.  Each dining room is divided by a low partition decorated with plants.  I didn't take the time to observe whether the plants were artificial or real, but in any case, they were attractive and added a nice touch to the dining room decor.

Photo:  I ordered from the "Sunrise Specialties" page of the breakfast menu.  This is only one page of the menu, which totals several pages, as the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Photo:  The "Daily Specials" and the "Soup of the Day" selections are posted behind the counter.  I asked my server is the soup varied and she said the soup menu doesn't change.  So... if you're in the mood for "Navy Bean Soup" - count me in - Saturday would be the day to visit.

Photo:  I was surprised to see "Brookfields" house-brand seasoned salt at my place the counter, and on nearly every table in both dining rooms.  I couldn't resist a sample on my breakfast, and it truly passed the taste test.

Photo:  Here's an attractive display near the entrance with various bottles of wine, vintage household items, and period photos, of employees and customers.

Photo:  When I dine by myself, if the restaurant has a counter, that's where you'll find me, as it's fun to watch the action and chit-chat, when possible, with the staff.  My server, Kayla butters my toast, as my breakfast waits on the shelf, hot from the kitchen.  If you look through the window, you can see the talented chef who prepared my breakfast.

Photo:  Meet Kayla, my super friendly server, who provided friendly service, and treated me like a rock star.  I could not believe how quickly my breakfast arrived, as Kayla delivered it from the kitchen in just over five minutes after I'd placed my order.  That's MINUTES faster than most "fast food" restaurants!

Photo:  I'm a happy guy, as I'm ready enjoy a delicious breakfast at Brookfields Restaurant, located in Roseville, CA.

Yes, I've enjoyed fine dining at the Brookfields Sacramento location as well, and you can check out the visit by clicking on the hyperlink.

Photo:  From the "Sunrise Specialties" section of the breakfast menu, I went with "Chilie Verde Skillet."  The menu advertises biscuit on the side, but toast or pancakes are offered, so I classically went with sourdough toast.  Such a great breakfast!

Photo:  My "Chilie Verde Skillet" showing all of the goodness this fine breakfast had to offer.  It was truly a delicious breakfast, and definitely different, which is what I had in mind for this Tuesday morning.

The "star" of the breakfast was the chili verde, but the "foundation" of the breakfast was a layer of diced, perfectly seasoned home style potatoes, fried to a golden brown on the outside, with the inside tender and juicy. I suspect the potatoes were seasoned with Brookfields' house seasoned salt... why not?  Whatever the case, the potatoes were perfectly seasoned and made for a great start to this delicious skillet.

Shredded and melted jack cheese was placed on top of the potatoes, which not only added taste, but it helped to keep each bite together.  I also noted there was a small amount of green chili verde sauce on the potatoes and the cheese for added flavor.

The "showcase" of this amazing breakfast was the diced, perfectly seasoned chili verde, which was placed on top of the bed of potatoes.  The pork was juicy and tender, and the portion size was great, as with each bite of this delicious skillet, I was rewarded with a piece of pork.

Two eggs, fried over easy as per my request topped the meat, potatoes and cheese, along with a helping of pico de gallo and a scoop of sour cream.

The skillet was skillfully prepared by the talented kitchen staff, as with each bite, I was rewarded with a little bit of everything this fine breakfast had to offer.  All of the ingredients worked together to make a truly delicious skillet, with a lot of Mexican influence and flavor.  Muy sabroso!

The menu lists this comes with a biscuit, but toast is an option, so I went with sourdough toast.  My two pieces of toast were toasted, and coated with lots of melted butter.  The toast included a little cup of strawberry jam, which I left behind, as I don't have a sweet tooth.

The skillet and the toast worked together to make a delicious breakfast, which kept me happily fueled-up until dinner.

It was definitely a respite from bacon and eggs, and maybe not for every taste, but especially with the Mexican influence, I loved this fine breakfast!

Photo:  Here's my first fork of goodness from my "Chilie Verde Skillet."  This breakfast was simply delicious in every way, and I highly recommend it.

I love the high ceilings and the elegant, yet "country" atmosphere the comfortable dining room offers.  The food is delicious, the staff is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable.  What's not to LOVE about Brookfields Restaurant?

Early Saturday afternoon, February 12, 2011, my wife and I enjoyed a lunch "date" at Brookfield's Restaurant in Roseville, which is number three in the small chain of three Brookfield's Restaurants in the greater Sacramento, CA area.

Photo:  Framed by a Sacramento Valley live oak tree that frames the photo, Brookfield's Restaurant stands alone, and beautiful, near busy Interstate 80, at the east end of Roseville, CA.

Photo:  As you walk into Brookfield's, this is what you'll see:  Friendly faces, an offer of cherry pie, a view of the kitchen, and a sparkling clean, family-friendly dining room.  People seem to grin when I take photos... am I weird or what?

Photo:  Jennifer poses with my Brookfield Gourmet Avocado  Burger, as Sharlene looks on, as she's already been served her lunch of Strawberry's Wild!  Strawberry Fields forever?  I'm confused...

Photo:  My hat is still on, but it goes off to Jennifer, our friendly and efficient server who took this photo of Sharlene and I, before we started to dig into our delicious lunch.  Brookfield's Restaurant serves a very balanced menu, which offers something for everybody, and the food is great, the service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable.  Brookfield's Restaurant represents an outstanding value for dining in the greater Sacramento area.

Photo:  Sharlene's lunch of Strawberries Wild!  This is before she added the balsamic vinegar.  The main entrée consisted of grilled salmon, placed on a bed of fresh spinach, garnished with fresh strawberries.

Photo:  Well... what can I say?   ... perhaps my lunch doesn't score any points with the health guys, or the green team, but it sure was good!  I ordered a Brookfield's Gourmet Avocado Burger with everything! on it... and had the option to choose between somewhat healthy turkey or beef... I chose beef, cooked medium rare, which is the way I like by beef.  OK... look at the photo... isn't this a burger to die for?  Yes.. it is... Check this out:  Bacon... guacamole... cheese... tomato slices... dill pickles.... plus a bed of fries!  Not to mention the fact that the dining room in elegant and comfortable, the servers are friendly and efficient, and you coffee cup is always full.  Good food, good prices... Brookfield's Restaurant rules!
