Mela's Mexican Restaurant is a family-friendly diner, located about 8 miles north of Marysville, Ca, along CA Highway 70, on the road to Chico, Lassen Nat'l Park, or whatever destination north works with you.  Mela's offers amazing Mexican cuisine... just like I've enjoyed in a Tijuana loncheria...

As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences

Photo:  It's just a little past 12 in the afternoon, and my friend Cindy and I have arrived at Mela's Mexican Restaurant, located on CA Highway 70, north of Marysville, to enjoy lunch.

It's Saturday, February 08, 2020.

Photo:  The dining room is very "basic," so to speak, but it's comfortable and very inviting.  Mela's Mexican Restaurant features a full service bar.

Photo:  As you walk into the restaurant, you'll notice the bar, and the dining room, furnished with tables and chairs. Look to the upper left of the photo and you'll get a peek into the kitchen.

Photo:  The menu is posted on the wall above the bar.  There are no printed menus offered.  Prices aren't  posted on the menu... you have to ask.

Photo:  After we were seated, we asked for chips and salsa.  Unlike many other Mexican restaurants, Mela's does not bring chips and salsa to you table... you have to ask.

Photo:  I took a peek into the kitchen to catch a photo of the friendly staff at work.

Photo:  Delores puts my plate of "Birria de Chivo" on the table, in front of my friend, and dining companion, Cindy.

Photo:  From the menu, posted above the bar, Cindy ordered, "9 Enchiladas de Pollo," chicken enchiladas, along with rice, beans and Mexican cheese.

Photo:  Here come the corn tortillas!!  Esperanza brings my plate of corn tortillas to the table as my friend, and dining companion, Cindy, looks on.

Photo:  My lunch of "Biriia de Reis" arrived with onion, lime, tomato, along with of fresh corn tortillas, and a great dipping sauce.

Photo:  Our friendly hostess, Eusebia, brings Cindy's plate of chicken enchiladas to the table.

Photo:  From the menu posted above the bar, I went with "Birria de Chivo." How could I resist not ordering such an amazing entree?

You got it... marinated goat, complete with marinade in chili... such a perfect lunch,  Combine this delicious stew with refried beans and rice... close your eyes and you'd think you were enjoying lunch in a loncheria in Tijuana, rather than in Marysville, California, 575 miles north of the Mexican border.

Photo:  My friend and dining companion Cindy, and I smile, and enjoy Mela's Mexican Restaurant. Thanks, Yolanda, for taking our photo.
