Bull Wings Bar and Grill is an upbeat sports bar/restaurant located in Elk Grove, CA, and has been dishing out amazing food and drink for the last several years.  As of this writing, the restaurant is undergoing a complete remodeling, but that doesn't stop you from enjoying the fine cuisine on their wonderful patio.

As with all reviews  I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  It's Monday, November 02, 2020, just a little after 12:30 in the afternoon, and we've arrived at Bull Wings Bar & Grill to enjoy a delicious lunch.  The restaurant is undergoing an extensive remodeling, and all dining is done on the patio, until the remodeling is complete.

Photo:  The patio is very comfortable, and has been rigged for outdoor dining at night, including strings of lights. There are even television monitors outside, as this fine restaurant is also a sports bar.  On this beautiful 75-degree afternoon, we would always prefer to dine outside.

Photo:  The interior of the restaurant is undergoing an extensive renovation and has been completely stripped of everything, with the exception of the bar.  Propane heaters are stored inside, and brought outside on the patio during the chilly evening hours.

We chatted with the staff and they said that management had wanted to remodel the restaurant for quite some time, and they're using the limited seating option - as of this writing - during the COVID-19 virus times, to get the work done.  The interior is scheduled to be finished around January, 2021.

Photo:  Looking out on to the patio, you can see the large propane fireplace, that provides cozy warmth and ambiance for your evening dining pleasure.

Photo:  The first page of the menu features appetizers, wings, pizza and much more.  Since today was our first time at Bull Wings, we decided to go with the "Sampler Platter," to get an idea of what the menu is all about. A couple dining near to us suggested going with pizza during our next visit, as they said the pizza is "legendary."

Photo:  Since Bull Wings Bar and Grill is noted for their wings, we wanted to get the full "experience," so we ordered six wings, and our friendly server, Nicole, brought out a bowl of carrot and celery sticks, along with ranch and bleu cheese dressing for dip.  This was un unexpected treat, as the menu doesn't mention this!

Photo:  My "foodie" friend and dining companion, Adrienne M. joined me for lunch today.  We're friends, and we've bonded together, as we enjoy each other's company, great food and cold beer.  Thanks, Nicole, for taking our photo, as we get ready to enjoy our amazing lunch.

Photo:  From the "Appetizers" section of the menu, we went with the "Sampler Platter," which includes four items of our choice from the "Appetizers" section.  If that wasn't enough, we ordered a bowl of six deep fried wings, which included sauce of our choice, along with a bowl of carrot and celery sticks.  A pitcher of Corona beer topped off our delicious lunch.

Photo:  From the "Appetizers" section of the menu, we ordered the "Sampler Platter."  This platter is a great plate to share, as you get your choice of four selections from the menu, which makes a perfect plate to share with your dining companion.  The platter includes cups of ranch and bleu cheese dressing for dipping, along with a lime wedge.

After looking over the wide array of offerings on the "Appetizers" menu, the questions were, "Where do you start?" along with "Which ones to choose?" as they all looked amazing!  It was a difficult choice, but in the end, we went with "Moe's Tacos," "Fried Chicken Sliders," "Jalapiņo Poppers," and "Potato Skins."  Too bad we couldn't try all of the appetizers on the menu!

"Moe's Tacos" stole the show!  Each taco was built on two, DVD-size toasted corn tortillas, and covered with a generous portion of juicy carnitas, diced white onion, chopped cilantro, and melted Mexican cheese.  These little tacos were simply delicious, as the carnitas was perfectly seasoned, juicy and grilled to perfection, and the toppings were fresh and crisp.  The meat-to-toppings ratio was perfect, and these small "street" tacos made for amazing way to get the platter started.  We chose carnitas for our tacos, but other meat is available, including pulled pork, carne asada and chicken.

The "Potato Skins" didn't disappoint, as each potato skin was a hollowed out baked russet potato, loaded with diced fried bacon, chopped green onion and chives, with a scoop of sour cream to make them moist and tender.  I noted the potato skins were drizzled in butter, which made for a soft, yet crunchy texture.  All of the ingredients complemented each other, and each bite was a taste sensation.

The menu advertises the "Fried Chicken Sliders" as, "Seasoned fried chicken and spicy thousand island."  Each patty of chicken was juicy white meat, seasoned, breaded and deep fried.  We noted the patties were on the spicy side, with a definite touch of jalapiņo pepper, which gave them a little "kick" and made for a taste sensation.  Each miniature bun was toasted, buttered, and spicy thousand island dressing was spread on each one of them. Perhaps that's where the jalapiņo pepper taste comes from?  I don't know, but I do know these sliders are delicious!

The "Jalapiņo Poppers" were small jalapiņo peppers, stuffed with cream cheese, breaded, and deep fried to a tender, crispy golden brown.  Contrary to popular belief, these weren't at all spicy or hot, and made for a melt-in-your-mouth taste sensation.

The "Sampler Plate" is a perfect plate for two to share, or if you have the appetite of a lumberjack or a linebacker, it would make for a great lunch, especially if you want to get a little something from the menu.

Photo:  Bull Wings Bar and Grill specializes in wings, so how could we resist passing on ordering a side of wings, to go with our "Sampler Platter?"  The "Wings" section of the menu asks a simple question, "How hot would you like to go?  Pick your level of medium, hot, extra hot, or five alarm?"  Alright, we're brave, but not that brave, so we went with medium.

You get to choose between boneless or bone-in wings, and you can order your wings either deep fried or baked.  We went with bone-in wings, which in our "buffalo wing" opinion, has superior flavor, and we went with deep fried, as in our opinion, that's the quintessential way to enjoy your "Buffalo Wings."

As far as dipping sauce... the menu lists no less than a dozen different choices, covering just about any genre of dipping sauce you can imagine.  Adrienne recommended the "Lemon Pepper" sauce, and I chose the "Original Buffalo" sauce, as that seemed like a great place to begin.  Bull Wings Bar and Grill is very accommodating when it comes to the sauce, as I'm certain they would cheerfully provide a couple more choices upon request.

Each wing was deep fried perfectly, with crispy skin and tender, juicy white meat inside.  Simply perfect!  I was disappointed as I dipped my first wing into the "Original Buffalo" sauce, as it tasted like the major commercial "red hot" buffalo wing sauce, which is found on the shelves of every grocery store.  The "Lemon Pepper" sauce was simply amazing, as it was creamy, zesty, and made each dip of your wing just bounce back at you with flavor!  My friend and dining companion has great taste!

The menu has a selection for every taste, there are television monitors outside on the patio, the fireplace is warm and inviting, the food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the beer is cold.  What's not to love about Bull Wings Bar and Grill, located in Elk Grove, CA?
