The Elk Grove, CA location if BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is one of 64 stores located in the state of California, and a member of a little over 200  chain of restaurants scattered across 17 states.  BJ's is a fun place to enjoy good times, as it's high-energy, similar to a sports bar, yet very family friendly, showcases a HUGE menu and serves delicious "Americana" cuisine.

As with all reviews  I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences.

Photo:  The Elk Grove location of BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is located on Laguna Springs Drive, just off of Laguna Blvd.  The restaurant faces Laguna Blvd. and all parking is to the side, and in back of the restaurant.

Photo:  It's just around 1:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, February 17, 2024, and I've arrived at BJ's to join friends for lunch.

As you enter the restaurant, there is a meeter/greater counter, where you'll be greeted, and be seated by a friendly staff member.  Your host/hostess will come to your table, bring you a menu, and you'll go from there.  BJ's is a full-service in every aspect.

Photo:  The main dining room is large - maybe GIGANTIC - and features a full-service bar, along with countless video monitors, which offers "sports bar" atmosphere.  Furniture is a mixture of tables, booths, and high, bar tables. Seating choices seem to be endless.

Photo:  The main dining room is quite seated on this early Saturday afternoon.  Note the full service bar to the right and the many video monitors tuned to sports programming.

Despite the full service bar and the sports bar-like atmosphere, BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is very family friendly.

Photo:  The menu is truly extensive, and features something for every taste.  It's spiral bound, which makes it easy to lay flat on the table and ponder the wide array of choices.  This is the page from the "Loaded Burgers" section of the menu.

Photo:  Our amazingly friendly hostess, Ruth Ann, takes Brian and Anna's order on her computer.  BJ's is certainly high tech, as considering the fact that I usually patronize "old school" diners... I'd never seen anything like this before.  Perhaps I'm a child of the 1960's?

Photo:  After I placed my order, I had the chance to take a peek into the very busy main dining room.

Photo:  Anna went with a "Soup and Salad Combo," with a "House Salad" and a bowl of clam chowder soup.

Photo:  Pasta salad and more was Mike's choice... but I didn't get the exact offering.

Photo:  Meet our amazingly friendly hostess, Ruth Ann, who brings our cheeseburgers to us with a friendly smile.

Photo:  Our group of long time friends enjoy an amazing lunch together.  Anna and Brian, seated on the right... I've been friends with them for over 40 years.  Thanks Ruth Ann for the photo.

Photo:  Brian went with a "Classic Cheeseburger," an order of fries, and a small cup of ranch dressing.

Photo:  Jason went with a "BJ's Classic Rib-Eye," complete with white Cheddar mashed potatoes and garlic roasted vegetables.

Photo:  From the "Burgers" section of the menu, I went with a "Classic Cheeseburger," fries, and a cup of ranch dressing on the side.  I simply can't resist a cheeseburger under any circumstances!

The menu describes this delicious burger as "American cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, dill pickles, BJ's signature burger sauce, premium parker house bun."  I describe the burger as simply delicious!

The burger is "old school" in every way and starts with a large beef patty - probably about 6 oz - and cooked to your order, in my case, I ordered my beef cooked medium.  The meat is sandwiched between a fresh parker house bun, slightly toasted and lightly buttered, and sits on a bed of fresh lettuce, tomato slices, dell pickle chips, and topped with a slice of American cheese, melted "just right."  Sauce is what the menu describes as "BJ's Signature Burger Sauce," but it's pretty much "Thousand Island Dressing."  Whatever the case, this is an "old school" burger, and reminds me of the countless burgers I enjoyed as a child, at various diners in the 1960's.

The burger came with an order of fries, but should fries not be your choice - what? - the staff will be more than happy to substitute other options such as potato salad, soup or more.  I asked for a small cup of ranch dressing on the side for dipping, and it was happily provided at no charge.  Curiously, no mustard or ketchup was provided on the table - just ask your server - but no condiments were needed, as the cheeseburger was standalone delicious.

One bite into the cheeseburger and I was rewarded to a juiciness goodness that every burger lover cherishes... juicy meat, tender bun, crisp, fresh veggies, and cheese that you can actually taste.  I was rewarded with a complete burger sensation, as the meat-to-bun balance was right, the beef was juicy, the cheese was melted perfectly, and the fresh veggies added the perfect contrast.

Speaking of the fries... they were cut medium size but were all over the "page" as far as length.  Who cares?  The fries were deep fried to a beautiful golden brown on the outside, and tender, juicy inside.  Simply delicious! Although they didn't need any enhancement, the small cup of ranch dressing worked wonders for dipping.

Friends, "foodies" and fellow lovers of burgers... The "Classic Cheeseburger" served at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse is a burger lover's dream come true!

Photo:  "Classic Cheeseburger," along with fries cut in half, showing all of the layers of goodness in this delicious burger.  If you're a fan of 1960's diner burgers, you'll love this amazing cheeseburger.  The cup of ranch dressing worked for a great dip for the fries.

It was great catching up with friends, and enjoying good times, friendly service, and the great cuisine this fine chain of restaurants offers.  For amazing food and good times, look to BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, located on Laguna Springs Drive, in Elk Grove, CA.
