Death Valley National Park is noted for HOT weather - READ: Stay home during summer months - awesome desert scenery, amazing camping, and a laid back atmosphere. Dining? Yes... you have to seek your dining, and great dining can be a challenge, but fine dining happens at Toll Road Restaurant, located at Stovepipe Wells, in Death Valley National Park. As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's just a little past 09:00 in the morning, Monday, November 11, 2024, and we've arrived at Toll Road Restaurant and we're looking forward to a great buffet breakfast. Photo: As you enter the restaurant there's a "Please Wait to be Seated" sign, but we didn't pay attention, as the dining room was lightly seater. Photo: Co-located with the restaurant is the saloon, which doesn't open until mid afternoon. I took a peek through the door, and took a photo. Photo: The breakfast buffet lineup. All selections were labled, so if you're challenged, you can tell corn beef hash from bacon Unlike many breakfast buffets, Toll Road Restaurant featured a great all-you-can-eat fruit selection, which was a welcome addition to our Monday morning breakfast. Photo: The dining room is furnished with tables and chairs, and is very "rustic" and western in character. Photo: Robert struck up a conversation with fellow diner George, who like Robert, is a veteran of the United States Air Force. As for me... I'm Navy. Photo: Like me, my friend Robert isn't shy when it comes to a buffet. Photo: If you're thirsty, it's good at the buffet, as you'll enjoy orange, apple and cranberry fruit juice, along with some of the best coffee you'll find in the Inyo County desert. Photo: The pot of breakfast gravy was truly welcome. Photo: Pancakes and French Toast are offered for the breakfast, but I passed, as I prefer hash brown potatoes, any day of the week. Photo: Corn beef hash and hash brown potatoes made the buffet both delicious and complete. This was my "go-to" station on the breakfast buffet. Photo: I truly loved the bacon, as it was juicy, tender and perfectly cooked. Photo: This friendly diner helps herself to scambled eggs. The sous chef is in the background, just over her shoulder, and I complimented him on the delicious breakfast. Photo: Juicy sausage links, perfectly grilled... Photo: Scrambled eggs made for a great start to this Monday morning breakfast. Photo: My first plate - I pigged out and enjoyed three plates of food - juicy sausage, perfectly cooked bacon, scrambled eggs and delicious hash browns, covered in some of the most delicious country gravy you'd ever dream of while dining in a national park. I extended my compliments to the chef, as Toll Road Restaurant offers an outstanding breakfast buffet at Stovepipe Wells, in Death Valley National Park. Our friendly hostess, Debbie, let me know the chef arrives every morning at 04:30 to get things ready, as all breakfast choices are made fresh every morning. Photo: Meet Debbie, our super friendly hostess who kept the buffet well stocked and treated us like family. Photo: My friend Robert and I enjoy breakfast. Thanks, Debbie for taking the photo. Photo: My second plate showcased more of the simply delicious hash brown potatoes, topped with creamy country gravy, two slices of bacon, along with another helping of scrambled eggs. We asked our hostess for spicy hot sauce, and she brought over a bottle of Cholula Mexican Hot Sauce, which is the perfect topping for eggs. Photo: Breakfast plate number three... I truly left with a full stomach today! More of the delicious hash brown potatoes - I simply could not stay away from them - topped with country gravy, turkey apple sausage, along with another helping of scrambled eggs. Cholula Mexican Hot Sauce always works wonders for breakfast! Yes, breakfast is buffet, but the food is delicious, and Debbie and her staff will keep you happy, and offer you the best food you could ever imagine.
