Bronco's Deli, located in Bishop, California takes it's name from the football team of Bishop Union High School, who are the Bishop Broncos. The restaurant is located just a couple of blocks away from the school, and offers after-school specials to students who are walking on their way home from school. Note: Nearly everything is "walkable" in Bishop, as it's not only a small city in terms of population, but it also sports a small footprint. I'm not a high school student, but I know about good food, and you'll definitely find good food at Bronco's Deli... As with all of reviews that I publish, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's mid Saturday morning, November 17, 2018, and I've arrived at Bronco's Deli and I have two choices: Breakfast or Lunch. No worries, as you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This photo is taken looking at the restaurant from Academy Ave. This restaurant is interesting, as it's divided into two sections. The door opening to Warren St. is where you enter and place your order, and the other section, on Academy Ave., which runs perpendicular to Main Street - U.S. 395 - is where you dine, as there's no room on the Warren St. entrance, as that's where the order counter and the kitchen are located. Photo: As you enter the restaurant from the Warren St. entrance - you can enter through the Academy Ave. entrance, and the dining room, if you prefer - you're greeted at the order counter by Anna and her husband, the owners and operators of the restaurant. Bronco's Deli operates "taqueria" style, in that you choose your order from the menu above the kitchen, pay for it at the counter, and when your order is ready, it will be brought to you. During busy times you'll receive a number, but on this mid-Saturday morning I was the only customer, so a number wasn't necessary. Photo: Bronco's Deli main breakfast and lunch menu. The flip side of the menu features Mexican selections, and I ordered a carne asada torta from the "other" side of the menu. Photo: After I placed my order for a carne asada torta, I had the chance to look around, and caught a photo of my friendly server, Anna, at work in the small kitchen. Photo: After entering on the Warren Street entrance and placing your order, you pass by the kitchen and enter the dining room, which actually faces Academy Avenue. The dining room is large and spacious, and is decorated with sports jerseys, plaques and posters from Bishop Union High School, who's mascot just happens to be a bronco. Bronco's Deli offers daily specials just before their closing time at 3:45 in the afternoon geared to the after school, high school crowd, as the restaurant is only a couple blocks away from the high school. Photo: My carne asada torta was ready five minutes after placing my order, and was brought to me by my friendly server, Anna. Photo: Thanks, Anna, for taking my photo, as I smile, as I know I'm about to enjoy a delicious carne asada torta at Bronco's Deli. Photo: My "Carne Asada Torta," from the Mexican side of the menu, for only $7.15. The sandwich included a couple of sport peppers and a small bowl of some of the best dipping sauce I've tasted on the planet. The torta is built on bread baked fresh at nearby Great Basin Bakery, and is lightly toasted, and a light coat of mayonnaise is spread on the bread. The carne asada is marinated, delicious, and there's a lot of it on the sandwich, as the restaurant doesn't skimp on the meat. The lettuce, tomato and cheese are fresh, and compliment the fine sandwich. The sport peppers were a complete surprise, but very welcome, as for me, this was a Bishop dining first-ever experience. I was not sure about the origin of the dipping sauce, and I first "tested the sauce," so to speak, by dipping the tip of a sport pepper into it, but after one dip... OH BOY!!! I ended up dipping my sandwich into it, and cleaned up every drop. Photo: Cross section of my delicious torta. Needless to say, this was an amazing lunch! My carne asada torta was delicious, very filling, reasonable priced, and the dipping sauce was out-of-this-world, and really made the torta outstanding. My server, Anna, was friendly, and the service was outstanding. Great sandwiches and good times at Bronco's Deli, located in Bishop, CA! Bronco's Deli Copyright(c) 2018 eRench Productions.
