Turlock is a city that just SHOUTS diversity, as it's a college town, and is rapidly becoming a centure of culture, and in the last 10 years or so, it has become quite cosmopolitan, and sports many fine restaurants.  Today's Turlock is quite a change from the "turkey town" it used to be, back in the 1970's when I was a resident.  On Friday, August 01, 2014, I had the opportunity to visit Tacos Mexico, a rather unique operation located in a parking lot, on South Golden State Blvd., in Turlock, CA.

Photo:  It's 1130 on Friday morning, August 01, 2014, and I'm on the way home from a great camping trip with family and friends at Jerseydale, in the Sierra National Forest.  Hint:  Check out the link.  Tacos Mexico occupies a vacant lot at the corner of South Golden State Blvd., and East Ave., in the pleasant city of Turlock.  The blue Dodge truck belongs to the owners of the restaurant, and the bed sports three 10-pound tanks of propane, to ensure the restaurant will never run dry.  The restaurant seems to be devoid of city services, so I assume the must be very self sufficient.

Photo:  Lucky me, as I arrived at 1100, I was the only customer, as by the time my order was delivered, fifteen minutes later, there was a line extending back to the white truck - my truck - to the left of the photo.  Tacos Mexico offers a protected, shaded dining area, which includes two large picnic tables, and is pictured at the left side of the photo.  I'm definitely glad I hit the place early, as by the time I was munching on my tacos, the place was packed.

Photo:  The menu is posted on the side of the truck.  Note the prices... Cheap!  Cheap! and more Cheap!  The price for a street taco is just above what you pay in Mexico, and this makes Tacos Mexico a bargain!  Combine rock-bottom prices with friendly people, and you can't beat this restaurant.  I assume since they're operating out of a trailer, their overhead must be much lower than "brick and mortar" restaurants.  No worries, as Tacos Mexico serves delicious tacos!

Photo:  The kitchen is located to the rear of the trailer, and I have the opportunity to snap hubby's photo, as he cooks my tacos.  Photo was taken through a large, plexiglass window.  The order counter has screens, which wife has to raise, to prevent the entrance of unwanted flies, and other unwanted visitors.  But, you have to admit that it's nice to be able to sit at a table, sip on a Jarrito, and watch your meal being cooked.

Photo:  Wife delivers my order of three tacos, and actually allowed me to take her photo.  Such a beautiful woman!  I asked her to take my photo, with the tacos, but she goofed it up - most cooking staff seem to share that dubious talent - and my "gut" told me not to ask her to take another photo, so you don't get to see my smiling face on this restaurant review.

Photo:  Such a feast for lunch!  One shrimp, and one fish taco, prices at $2.00 each, and one chorizo taco, priced at $1.25 each.  A Jarritos Lime to drink, and the entire lunch was priced at under $6.00.  You're talking about prices similar to Tijuana, Mexico!  As if yo have to wonder, the photo speaks 1000 words, but in a short description, the tacos were OUTSTANDING!  Tacos Mexico is a keeper...

Yes, the tacos are delicious, authentic, and priced on the CHEAP.  At $1.25 a taco, that's not more than you'd expect to pay at a street vendor in downtown Tijuana, Mexico!  The tacos are great, and the people are friendly.  If you love tacos, and you're in "T-town," stop by Tacos Mexico and treat yourself to delicious tacos.
