Strawberry Inn, located in the small unincorporated hamplet of Strawberry, Tuloumne County - there is another "Strawberry" a few miles north in Eldorado County - is a small resort, which includes a motel, bar, and a small restaurant. The food is good, the service is friendly, and the decor is rustic. Not to mention a breathtaking view of the Stanislaus River! As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's 8 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, June 30, 2016, and I'm parked at Strawberry Inn and ready to enjoy breakfast. The restaurant is located in Tuloumne County, in the Stanislaus National Forest, at the 5500' level, and the mountain scenery is spectacular. Photo: To get to the restaurant, you walk through the full-service bar, that also includes hi-def television monitors, a pool table, and lots of comfortable seating. I didn't ask, but I suppose I could have enjoyed my breakfast at the bar, but since I was the only patron at the restaurant on this Thursday morning, I decided to eat in the restaurant, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Stanislaus River. Photo: The dining room is quite small, and features small tables. If you have a larger group, there are large tables in the bar, which is located in the next room. The windows give a beautiful view of the Stanislaus National Forest, and the Stanislaus River. If souvenirs are you're "thing," you can purchase tee shirts and coffee mugs. I found it interesting the coffee station was just behind the soft drink dispenser, so I told my friendly hostess not to worry about keeping my coffee mug full, as I'd just serve myself, as the coffee station was only a few feet from my table. Photo: The breakfast menu is quite "compact," this is the top half the menu, as the "From the Grill" section - not shown in the photo - is mostly pancakes and waffles, which I tend to avoid. I didn't read the menu very well, as I settled on Corned Beef Hash, but when my meal arrived, I found out my breakfast didn't include potatoes, which I sorely missed. Photo: Strawberry Inn doesn't have an "open" kitchen, but there is a window where you can peak inside, and snap a photo, if you're in the same "mindset" as I am. Photo: My friendly server, Goda, brings my breakfast to my table with a smile. She was very pleasant and took good care of me, but her English was a bit difficult to understand, as I assume she is Czech, as the owners of the restaurant are of Czech origin. No worries, as she took good care of me, and "put up" with my picture taking. Photo: Thanks, Goda, for snapping my photo, as I'm ready to enjoy breakfast. I'd been camping in the wilds of the Stanislaus National Forest for a couple of days, and I was ready to enjoy breakfast. Photo: My delicious breakfast of corned beef hash, two eggs, over easy, and sourdough toast. It was a great breakfast, especially after eating canned food for a couple of days, but there were a few "nits" to pick, including... * No potatoes! Silly me, as I didn't carefully read the menu... Yes, since Strawberry Inn is in an out-of-the-way place, I expected to pay a bit more for breakfast, but I was sadly disappointed in having breakfast without potatoes, and only one slice of toast seemed a bit on the stingy side. But, the breakfast was good, the service was excellent, and I'll return, and I'll recommend the restaurant to travelers over Sonora Pass, or for breakfast in the Pinecrest area. After enjoying my breakfast, and the company of my friendly server, Goda, despite the many bad ratings this restaurant has suffered at the hands of Yelp, I recommend it, and I plan to return. Just bring plenty of dollars with you, and carefully read the menu... Strawberry Inn Copyright(c) 2016 eRench Productions. All rights reserved. This site has been on the web since December 22, 2002.
