The Cavalier Restaurant, located within the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort, features some of the best food that you'll find on California's Central Coast, in beautiful San Simeon. Normally when I stay at a resort, there are a couple of things that I tend to avoid: 1) Banquets 2) The hotel restaurant, as both are normally over-priced, under-serviced, and are noted for serving skimpy portions of food. You know what I mean, as most in-house resort restaurants are convienient, serve almost everything, and are usually way-overpriced and feature surly staf! Not so at the Cavalier Restaurant, as the Cavalier Restaurant is friendly, elegant, and serves fine food at very reasonable prices. If you're staying at the Cavalier Resort, or just passing through beautiful San Simeon, you don't want to pass on the Cavalier Restaurant, as the food, service and friendly staff make this a restaurant that you don't want to miss.
Left: Cavalier Restaurant, in San Simeon, CA. Right: You're greeted when you walk into the restaurant by friendly greeters, who will seat you and place a menu on your table. What kind of food do you like? I bet they serve it; their menu features a little bit of everything. Are you really hungry? They can accommodate you. Or, if you're like me and you're a sometimes "food lightweight," they can dish you up a meal that won't make you feel bloated. Everybody can choose from the "senior" menu if smaller portions (and at a smaller price) seems to be the right thing to do. Did I mention that the employees are fast, efficient, friendly and seem eager to make your dining experience an experience to remember? They've "dotted the i's and crossed the t's" on the little things, and it all adds up to a wonderful dining experience in one of the most beautiful environments that you can imagine.
Left: Looking into the dining room at Cavalier Restaurant. The windows to the rear afford wonderful views of the sun setting over the ocean. Right: Sharlene orders dinner from the friendly waiter. While we were staying at the Cavalier Resort, we ate at the Cavalier Restaurant two nights and one morning. It's not really necessary to make reservations, but we did, as we wanted a booth at the west end, facing the ocean. Yes, you can gaze out on the majestic Pacific Ocean while you eat, but you'll notice the lovely potted geraniums that are just outside the window as you gaze out toward the ocean. The atmosphere is causal, relaxed and unhurried, yet bordering on an elegant atnosphere, and the staff makes you feel like you're welcome and part of one big, happy family.
Left: Our meal arrives! Right: Sharlene wasn't too humgry, so she ordered a club sandwich. For the photo, she managed to procure my bowl of clam chowder. The prices are reasonable, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is breathtaking. Oh yes the food... when you eat their food, you'd think that you've died and gone to heaven. It's that good. California cuisine at its best...
Left: Sharlene's club sandwich, with the red coleslaw back in place. Right: Pasta and bread sounded good to me, so that's what I decided to have, for a fairly light dinner. When you visit San Simeon, on the scenic central coast of California, stop at the Cavalier Restaurant for a fine meal, any time of the day. You'll be glad you did, as you'll enjoy the friendly sevice, savor the good food, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. I really mean it! Copyright(c) 2006 Eric's Enterprises, Etc. All rights reserved.
