At the last meeting of the Sacramento Breakfast Club, I looked at the rotation sheet and I noted that it was David's turn to choose the location of the next meeting.  For David, it wasn't a problem, as he'd already scoped out Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar, as it's close to where he lives, and it's a favorite hangout place for the neighborhood locals.  Friday morning, February 01, 2013, we held our bi-monthly meeting at Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar.

Photo:  Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar is located in a small strip mall, near the American River.  It offers comfortable indoor seating, and a few outdoor tables on the patio, if you prefer to dine outdoors.

Photo:  As you walk in the front door, you're greeted with the espresso bar, and the breakfast counter.  There are several hi-def television monitors on the walls, which help keep you up on the latest sports and local events.  Note the San Francisco and Baltimore pennants on the wall behind the cashier station... Superbowl is only two days away, and the Forty Niners play the Ravens.  Go Forty Niners!!!

Photo:  Our friendly server, Mike, takes Bev's order.  The espresso bar, and a couple of hi-def monitors can be seen in the rear of the photo, the kitchen is to the extreme right of the photo.

Photo:  The Sacramento Breakfast Club had the supreme pleasure to be seated, and welcomed to Rivers Edge Café by the owner, Ms. Shannen Park.  I can't resist having my photo taken with a beautiful woman, so of course I got Tony to snap my photo with Shannen.  Rivers Edge is on Facebook, and Twitter, so if you FB or "tweet," you might want to look them up.

Photo:  Breakfast is served!!!  Two servers bring our food... we felt blessed!  Rivers Edge Café offers friendly service, efficient service, and delicious food.  This place is a breakfast keeper!!!

Photo:  My breakfast of scrambled eggs, stuffed hash browns, and sourdough toast.  Not shown is the bottomless cup of great coffee.  The stuffed hash browns are massive:  Hash brown potatoes, stuffed with bacon, sour cream and cheese, which are a meal in themselves.  The menu describes my breakfast in the following terms, "College Combo:  Original stuffed hash browns, two eggs made your way and choice of toast or pancakes."  The stuffed hash browns seem to be an exclusive at Rivers Edge Café, so when you visit this restaurant, stuffed hash brown potatoes should be on your agenda.

Photo:  Today's members of the Sacramento Breakfast Club, from left to right:  Tony Godsey, Eric Rench, Teri McCloud, Sean McCloud, Bev MacLeod, Dan MacLeod, David DeMario, Mary Rupp and Sharlene Rench.

So now we have to discuss the post-mortem meeting in the parking lot... of course the MAJOR topic of discussion was the stuffed hash brown potatoes.  Where else in town can you find stuffed hash brown potatoes?  The hash brown potatoes are stuffed with bacon, cheese, onions and sour cream, and alone, are worth the price of admission to the restaurant.  It was a forgone conclusion in our parking lot meeting that we LOVE Rivers Edge Café and Espresso Bar... for the friendly service, the comfortable decor, and the great food... oh, did I forget? ... the stuffed hash brown potatoes...
