If you're a regular reader of our breakfast adventures, you're undoubtedly wondering why the Sacramento Breakfast Club would choose to enjoy breakfast at the Madison Ave. location IHOP, which is only a link in a chain of national chain of restaurants. You've probably figured out that IHOP doesn't fit our de facto standard, as it's not "unique," not a mom and pop operation, and isn't native to the Sacramento region. But most protocol, including our own, isn't etched in stone, and rules are made to be broken. Protocol was left behind, as we held our bi-monthly meeting on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Madison Ave. location of IHOP... Photo: It's rare in mid-October to get a cloudy day in Sacramento, but a few clouds doesn't cast a shadow on the prospect of breakfast at IHOP. There are many IHOPs scattered around the area, but the restaurant on Madison Ave. rules the IHOP world in Sacramento. Checking past meetings of our club, I noted the last time we held a meeting at this location was back in June, 2009, which was far too long ago. Photo: Due to the fact that we had a larger-size group, we were seated in a semi-private dining room, separated from the main dining room. Photo shows the modern, comfortable decor, as our friendly server, Sabrina, takes our orders. Photo: After Sabrina placed my order on the table, I asked her to pose for the camera, which she gladly did. Photo: Sabrina brings Matt's breakfast to the table, as Sean proudly shows off his breakfast for the camera. Photo: How could I resist ordering a breakfast of machaca, hash brown potatoes, salsa and corn tortillas? In case you're not aware of what machaca is, it's a breakfast that's very popular in Mexico, consisting of grilled steak, onion, peppers, cheese, mixed with scrambled eggs. On the side, the choices include toast, pancakes, corn or flour tortillas... my obvious choice was corn tortillas. This breakfast was simply delicious, and I highly recommend the IHOP on Madison Ave. to those who appreciate an outstanding breakfast. You just can't go wrong with breakfast at this IHOP location! IHOP's web site refers to the restaurant as "An American Icon," and I think that catch phrase pretty well describes the dining experience that members of the Sacramento Breakfast Club enjoyed. We'll be back... International
