It seems like we get flyers deposited on our front door nearly every day, and I rarely even look at them, and immediately deposit them into the trash can. Several weeks ago, we found another one on our door, but for some reason, this one caught my eye, as it advertised a new restaurant in our area, which always will get my interest. The flyer advertised their web site, so I looked it up, checked out their menu, and noticed they we open for breakfast and lunch only, which is another factor that always grabs my attention. On Friday, June 21, 2013, the Sacramento Breakfast Club held the first meeting of the summer at Café Americano. Photo: Café Americano is located in a small shopping center, on Foothills Blvd., right next to a major gym, which makes it easy to work off a few calories in you're so inclined to do, after enjoying a delicious meal. Photo: I paid a visit to the restaurant the day before our meeting, and told the staff to expect about 10 of us, and when we arrived at 0900, three tables were pushed together to accommodate our club members. Good going! The decor has a very light, "California feel," and is very comfortable, and the dining room is squeaky clean. Our friendly server, Savannah, takes our order. Photo: Savannah places Teri's order of hash browns, scrambled eggs and sausage on the table. The food was delicious, our coffee cups were always full, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only criticism that we had is that our orders arrived somewhat unevenly, and Valarie had to wait for her food for a few minutes after everybody else had been served, which make things a bit awkward. Granted, we were a large group, and the restaurant has been open only a couple months, so we felt it was just part of the growing process. Photo: Savannah and friend pose with some of our breakfasts. Her friend is holding my breakfast of chicken fried steak. As an aside, if you're a fan of Facebook, be sure to "friend" Café Americano, as they're active on Facebook, as well as the web. Photo: My breakfast of three eggs, over easy, home-style potatoes, and a perfectly cooked chicken fried steak, covered with delicious country gravy. Oh boy, this was good! Not shown in the photo is the side of biscuits and gravy. Café Americano serves a great breakfast! Thanks to Savannah, our friendly server, for taking the photo. Like many new restaurants, Café Americano has a few kinks to iron out, but after they've had time to settle into a groove, they will be a welcome addition to the greater Sacramento area breakfast scene.
