If you plan to grill or smoke a turkey, this is the baste for you, as it is flavorful, easy to make, utilizes common ingredients, and it helps to keep the turkey moist during the cooking process. Whether you are grilling or smoking a turkey, this baste keeps the meat moist, and it adds a delicious, butter-garlic flavor to the turkey. Plus, you get to enjoy the leftover beer. It takes about 10 minutes to make this delicious baste. Ingredients as follows... 1 cup butter Mix ingredients together. Nuke in ingredients in a microwave oven for about 45 seconds, until the butter is melted, and everything is thoroughly blended. That's all there is to it! Baste turkey about every 30 minutes, using basting brush, which is similar to a paint brush. In a pinch, I've even used a spotlessly clean paint brush to baste a turkey, but I don't recommend it, unless you're quite desperate. If you want your turkey to have a southwestern flavor, add the cumin. My wife and kids don't care for a Texas twang to their turkey, so I usually omit the cumin, unless I'm cooking a small portion of turkey for myself. This baste will not only keep your turkey moist, but it will implant a delicious, butter-garlic flavor to the bird, and helps brown the skin to a savory, golden brown color. You'll probably have to double this recipe for a large turkey, but since this recipe is simple, you can make more, as the turkey cooks. The drippings provide the base for delicious turkey gravy. All you have to do is mix in a little flour, maybe some additional butter, stir fry, and you have turkey gravy. Copyright(c) 2008 eRench Productions, Inc. All rights reserved.
