Late Tuesday afternoon, September 18, 2012, after a hard day of partying,  I was wandering the Las Vegas Strip, thinking about food, specifically dinner.  I'd decided that dinner would be either hot dogs or a burger, as I prefer simple food, and never dine at fancy restaurants.  As I hiked past Fatburger, I thought, "Hmmmmm, now that's a possibility..." but what really got my attention is the fact that they have a full service bar - on the street - and a lovely young lady gave me a buy-one-and-get-one-free drink coupon.  Hot diggity dog!!!  Fatburger, here I come!

Photo:  Open 24 hours a day!  Oh, how I love Las Vegas!  The name of the restaurant is Fatburger, but the receipt calls it The Last Great Hamburger Stand.  I suppose I should have asked one of the staff to explain, but after a day of enjoying the Las Vegas Strip, I just didn't think about it...

Photo:  I'm just inside the front door, and the restaurant decor is pure, updated, Las Vegas-style chitz, faux 1950's. It's complete with chrome barstools, with red vinyl upholstery, and black and white tile on the floor.  You can dine inside the comfortable dining room, or you can dine outside, by the bar and under the shade.  My choice was simple:  Outside.

Photo:  You walk up to the counter, make your choice from the overhead menu, pay for it, and you're rewarded with a plastic number.  The menu offers hot dogs and burgers, with lots of options.  In the burger department, you can order anywhere from regular to XXXL, and you can order any number of options, including cheese, bacon, guacamole, just to name a few.  Your burger is custom-tailored to your taste, and it's cooked to your specifications.

Photo:  Friendly Mallory takes my order, and rewards me with a plastic, "12."  A portion of the open kitchen can be seen in the background of the photo.

Photo:  Fatburger has two outdoor bars!  This bar is open to the sidewalk on Las Vegas Blvd, and is staffed by two lovely ladies.  Note the pedestrians walking by, and the how "open" the bar is to the street.  It's legal to drink booze openly on the Las Vegas Strip, all the way north to Fremont Street, so this puts me in paradise.  Not to mention that the Las Vegas Strip offers some of the best people watching in the world.  No wonder it's known as "Fabulous Las Vegas!"

Photo:  Friendly bartender Amanda pours my two Budweiser beers from the tap, at the main outdoor bar.  You pay for your drinks separately at the bar.  Since I'm not big on mixed drinks, I ordered two draught Buds for the price of one, as per the two-for-one coupon that I'd been given.  I paid $7.00 for two 16-oz draught Buds, which is very reasonable, considering that you're at the heart of the strip.

Photo:  Folks relax outside at the main bar, as Amanda pours another round of draught beers.  You can enter the restaurant through the double doors at the left of the  photo.

Photo:  I ordered a "Medium Burger," with the standard lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard, and an order of "Fat Fries."  I ordered bacon and cheese as options for my burger.  Besides "Fat Fries," Fatburger offers, "Skinny Fries" and a host of other side dishes.  The burger was delicious, juicy, and perfectly cooked to order.  The fries were golden on the outside, chewy on the inside, and neither salty or greasy.  This burger and fries is one of the best that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy.  I HIGHLY recommend Fatburger!

For a delicious, made-to-order burger, you can't beat Fatburger, as their burgers are spectacular.  Combine superior burgers with a full-service bar, friendly staff, shaded outdoor dining, and you've got a made-to-order good time. Add the equation one of the best people-watching locations on the planet, and Fatburger will be your choice for a fantastic dining experience!
