Langostino's Restaurant has been a seafood lover's destination restaurant, located in the city of Rio Bravo for many years.  If you're in the mood to enjoy amazing seafood, elegant dining, along with friendly service, Langostino's Restaurant and bar should be your seafood destination in Cd. Rio Bravo, in beautiful Tamaulipas.

Photo:  Langostino's Restaurant is located in downtown Cd. Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas.  It's early Wednesday evening, September 27, 2007, and I'm headed to enjoy dinner at this fine restaurant with my friends Jerry and Edna Flinn.

Photo:  As you enter the restaurant, you'll always find a friendly greeter to welcome you to the spacious dining room. Note the decor is very "retro" and painted in bright colors.

Photo:  The restaurant manager, Edalia Benavides at the counter, as you enter the restaurant, and she provides a warm welcome for you as you walk in.  Well, maybe not this instant, as she stares at he camera, as I take her photo.

Photo:  We take a peek into the kitchen and watch the kitchen staff at work preparing our fish.  Tina, who is a long-time chef at the restaurant stands to the right, as she and her co-workers remove shells from seafood.

Photo:  The kitchen staff is preparing seafood for tonight's dinner.  Langostino's is noted for the delicious seafood dishes the restaurant is famous for.

Photo:  Our friendly waiter, Roberto Barrera, has already brought drinks, along with chips and salsa, and is now taking our dinner order.  My friends Edna and Jerry Flinn place their orders, as I take the photo.  The second course, a bowl of fish soup, is on the table for the three of us.

Photo:  Edna's dinner of "Filete Almendrado" is placed on the table by one of the friendly wait staff, as Jerry looks on.  My order of "Camarones Rellenos Empanizados" is already on the table, waiting for me to enjoy after taking the photo.  Before the main course arrived we'd been enjoying appetizers of chips and salsa - two varieties of salsa - along with bowls of fish soup.  Langostino's speciliazes in seafood dishes, and the menu offers at least 20 options for shrimp alone.

Photo:  Edna ordered her favorite dish of "Filete Almendrado," which is fried fish fillets, covered with white almond sauce, and a side of white rice.

Photo:  Jerry and I orderdered identical dinners of "Camarones Rellenos Empanizados," which features breaded shrimp, stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon, and deep-fried to a golden goodness.  Included with the main course are white rice, fries, and a small dinner salad.  Where are the refried beans?  Hey pilgrim... you're on the east coast of Mexico... travel to Sonora or Baja California if you're looking for beans.

Photo:  Jerry Flinn, your author, and Edna Flinn pose for the photo, as our charming waiter, Roberto, takes our photo.

Photo:  It's early Friday evening, February 03, 2006, and we're ready to enjoy a delicious dinner at Langostino's Restaurant in Cd. Rio Bravo.  These photos were taken by my friend, Jerry Flinn.

Photo:  We seem to be the only diners on this early Friday evening.  The dining room is spacious, clean and very elegant.  Note the "old school" television monitors, as hi-def television hasn't arrived at Langostino's.

Photo:  The restaurant manager, Edalia Bamavodes, along with waiter Roberto Barrera welcomed us to dinner on this early Friday evening.  Note the liquor bottles behind the counter, as the restaurant offers cocktails, but they're served on an informal, "as-needed" basis.  Basically, you ask your waiter for a drink, and if they have the ingredients, they'll mix it for you.

Photo:  One of tonight's chefs, David Duenes, is helping to get things ready, as "Filete Almendrado" is cooking on the main burners.

Photo:  Our friendly chef, Justina (Tina) Hernandez smiles, as she's cooking two orders of "Filete Almendrado" as part of tonight's dinner.  In case you're not familiar with felete almendrado, it's basically fish fillets cooked in a white almond sauce, which makes for a delicious dinner.

Photo:  Martin Perez, is hard at work, in the kitchen.

Photo:  Our amazing server, Roberto, brings dinner to our table.

Photo:  As appetizers, before we enjoy dinner, we're treated to freshly made tortillas chips, two varieties of salsa, one of which is basically fresh salsa, the other is made with cheese, and key limes.  The key limes are especially welcome, as they provide fresh juice for our icy-cold Mexican beers!

Photo:  Don McBride enjoys his dinner of "Camarones Empaizados," which is breaded, deep-fried shrimp, along with side dishes of fries, white rice and salad.

Photo:  Bev McBriede ordered "Filetes Almendrado" and loved every bit of it.  The dinner was so large that she couldn't eat it al tonight, but too the remainder home in a box to enjoy the next day.

Photo:  Bev's amazing dinner of "Filetes Almendrado," which is deep fried fish cooked in white almond sauce.

Photo:  Edna's dinner of fried shrimp, white rice, fries and a small dinner salad.  She was so hungry to enjoy her dinner that she took a bit out of one of the shrimp before I was able to take the photo!  That's Langostino's good!

My friend Jerry Flinn describes Langostino's Restaurant as "affordable elegance" and I would agree with him, as the restaurant is elegant, the service is remarkable, the food is fantastic, and the cost of dining is more than affordable, even by Mexican standards.

When you're in the mood for fine dining in Cd. Rio Bravo, with the emphasis on the best seafood you can find, look no further than Langostino's Restaurant.
