The Window Box Cafe is a small mom 'n pop restaurant, located on the west end or Rocklin, CA, in a nice, suburban setting. The Window Box Cafe offers breakfast and lunch, and is open every day of the week from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon. As with all of my reviews, I have no affiliation with the restaurant reviewed, and there is no monetary gain on my part, as I am simply a person who likes to eat, and I love to write-up, and publish my dining experiences. Photo: It's a little past the 07:00 in the morning opening time, and I've arrived at The Window Box Cafe, located in Rocklin, CA, to enjoy breakfast. It's Thursday, March 02, 2023, and it's time for breakfast! Photo: As you enter the restaurant, you'll be meeted and greeted by a staff member. Since I'd "opened" up the restaurant on this early Thursday morning, I simply walked into the dining room and seated myself. Photo: On your way past the "meet and greet" counter, you'll pass a wall that is decorated with family photos, and photos from happy diners. Photo: The first page of the extensive breakfast menu lists "Breakfast Specials," and was as far as I needed to go, as biscuits and gravy seemed like a great choice on this Thursday morning. Photo: The dining room is spacious, comfortable, and offers a great combination of tables and booths. The room is attractively lighted by natural lighting, thanks to the many windows. Today I "opened up" the restaurant, so during today's dining adventure, I had the entire restaurant to myself. Photo: "No No No!" That's what Minami said to me as I tried to snap her photo, as she delivered my breakfast to my table. Gee... when I walked in and introduced myself, I told her about photos, and she agreed, but when it came time to take photos, it was "No No No!" Minami... you should have told me in advance that you were "camera shy" and I would have simply bid you a "Good Day" and walked out. Despite all of this, I actually left her a 15% tip... Photo: I'm ready to enjoy my "Biscuit and Gravy Platter," along with an icy-cold 805 beer - I wasn't driving - at The Window Box Cafe. Photo: From the "Breakfast Specials" section of the menu, I went with "Biscuit and Gravy Platter." My choice of sides was link sausage and hash brown potatoes. Great choice of sides for a solid breakfast. Oh... the 805 beer was on the side... This menu dish features flexibility, as when you place your order, you get many choices, such as hash brown potatoes or homestyle potatoes, bacon, link or patty sausage, and how you want your eggs fried. The "star" of my meal were two large, flavorful, grilled sausages, which were my "protein" of choice. Along with the sausages, I went with hash brown potatoes, which were grilled to a light golden brown crisp on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside. Lately, "sunnyside up" seems to be my eggs of choice, and my eggs arrived perfectly fried, as per my order. "Biscuit and Gravy Platter" is the correct description of this breakfast, as I received ONE medium size biscuit, which was fresh and tasty, covered in thick, sausage gravy. This was a solid breakfast choice, and for $14.00, was to me, on the "high-end" of breakfast, yet not out of line, in today's crazy world. Photo: My "Biscuit and Gravy Platter," after I transferred the biscuit and gravy to the plate - on top of the hash brown potatoes - so I could enjoy all of the goodness on the same plate. I'm guessing The Window Box Cafe has changed owners since my last visit, as the hospitality has changed drastically... The Window Box Cafe offers a solid breakfast choice for "foodies" in Rocklin, who enjoy breakfast. The breakfast is good, but it's not a breakfast that I'd drive out of my way for, and in the future, I think I'll pass on by, as there are many other breakfast restaurants to enjoy in Western Placer County. Back on Monday, August 16, 2016, my wife Sharlene and I enjoyed a late morning breakfast at The Window Box Cafe, located in Rocklin, CA... Let's face it, in order to stay in business a restaurant must have good food, good service - most of the time - and it must be a place where diners actually feel welcome. I have actually been to restaurants that are missing one, or all three of the "must have" qualities, and I've seen many of them go under. I love a restaurant that has good food, good service, and a friendly atmosphere. Meet the fine staff at Window Box Cafe in Rocklin, where the food is amazingly delirious, the service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is a sunny as the cheerful decor of the restaurant. Photo: It's late-morning on Monday, August 29, 2016, and we've arrived at The Window Box Cafe to enjoy one of the best breakfasts that Rocklin has to offer. The light is perfect for photography, and the inside of the restaurant is as sunny as the pretty exterior. Photo: The Window Box Cafe has two dining rooms, which are very similar to each other. The decor is comfortable, fresh and sunny, and so is the atmosphere, due to the comfortable seating, and the super friendly staff. Our wonderful server, Destinee, can be seen near the center of the photo, taking order from another table. Photo: The Window Box Cafe is open every day from 0700 to 1500, and breakfast is served anytime the restaurant is open. If you're a breakfast lover, Window Box should be on your list, as the restaurant is serious about breakfast. Here's a portion of the breakfast menu - note the loose leaf - so the menu lies flat on the table, which is a nice touch. Not to mention glasses of ice water, brought to your table without having to ask, which also adds a note of class. The prices are very reasonable, and the servings are large, which makes for a winning combination. Photo: Check out the daily specials, offered weekday mornings. I ended up choosing #2, but now I regret not choosing #6. I'll be back soon to enjoy a #6, and update this web posting. You certainly can't beat the price, especially the $.99 coffee with each weekday special. Photo: After placing our order, our breakfast arrived in only about 10 minutes, which is very fast, especially considering the fact the restaurant was nearly full. Our order was brought to us by our friendly server, Destinee, with a smile, and a lot of friendly conversation. Destinee is a great server, a nice person, and an absolute superlative ambassador and representative of all that is good about The Window Box Cafe. Photo: Sharlene chose the "California Benedict" from the main breakfast menu. The menu describes the benedict as, "Two soft poached eggs on an English muffin, with roasted turkey breast, tomato slices and avocado. Topped with Hollandaise sauce. Your choice of potatoes or fresh fruit." Sharlene chose the country potatoes, and just to "mix and match," I chose hash brown potatoes. Sharlene raved about her breakfast, and couldn't eat all of it, so I helped her out. The breakfast was amazing. Photo: I couldn't resist the $4.95 price of the #2 choice on the "Daily Special" menu, which included two eggs of my choice, potatoes and toast. Because my wife chose country potatoes, I chose hash browns, just to "mix and match" between us, so to speak. I also added the $.99 coffee the "Daily Special" menu offers. My breakfast was delicious, and the price was right. Imagine: This is about what you'd expect to pay for breakfast at a national fast food restaurant, and there is no comparison between a fast food breakfast, and a wonderful breakfast enjoyed at The Window Box Cafe. Interesting enough, my wife's coffee was priced at $2.25, while mine was $.99, because I ordered my breakfast from the "Daily Special" menu. Same cup of coffee! It seems a little odd, but the delicious breakfast, and the charming personality of our server, Destinee, made up for the small difference in price. Photo; My wife and I are ready to enjoy a delicious breakfast at The Window Box Cafe. Thanks, Destinee, for snapping our photo. I'm looking forward to another enjoyable eating adventure at this wonderful restaurant. The Window Box Cafe may now be my favorite breakfast restaurant in West Placer County. Combine amazingly good food, fast, super friendly service, weekday breakfast specials, and the sunny atmosphere, and it all adds up to a superb dining experience.
